The Yo-Yo part is actually a parallel to the common childhood spin-toy called "Lattu". It's run by threads, spider webs in this case. It got changed to a Yo-Yo because of the whole Mumbai x Manhattan reference.
30:53 That's actually quite brilliant. Just like Peter says "Spider-Man is supposed to be funny". Spider-Man is known to be quippy and always ready for a comeback. So, the fact that they all just started pulling jokes out of their sleeves is so in line with the character.
44:26 They used Alfred Molina's "Hello Peter" from No way home in that scene. Also one of the details he missed is Genki was playing Spiderman 2 when Miles entered the room.
“Hey…” is a reference to what Uncle Aaron taught Miles in the first movie. Putting your hand on a girl’s shoulder as part of flirting. The move that resulted in Gwen getting half her head shaved. Eric was saying Miles was almost mirroring that move in his confrontation with Miguel. (Miles also used it on King Pin at the end of that 1st movie)
Also, Miguel's powers are different compared to everyone else's which is why he's never "crawling" on walls. He's always using his talons since his powers didn't come from a spider bite.
54:33 Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield & Tom Holland's Spider-Men wouldn't be there, Jaby. Miguel & the Spider-Society accepts Spider-People who are willing to let people die for the greater sake of the Multiverse. In _No Way Home_ Doctor Strange told Spider-Man that the villains had to die, but Peter refused & the other two Spider-Men joined him in his quest to cure the villains & alter some canon instead. So that + Miguel mentioning what a mess they caused in NWH, those 3 wouldn't have been invited to join
The yoyo is an improvised thing they added. It has nothing to do with the culture other than him wearing it. In India people are fond of bracelets and in ancient India people used to wear those kinds of jewels. I just love how they weaponised it as an yoyo❤
Yo-Yo is the parallel of Lattu. Since it's a hybrid of Mumbai and Manhattan, it's safe to assume they'd have grown up with Yo-Yo instead of Lattu there.
46:05 “Giving Him A Classic , Hey” Voss Is Referencing The (Hey) That His Uncle Aaron Taught Him In The First Movie To Pick Up Chicks. Miles Saying “Hey” Was How He Defeated Kingpin. So That’s Why Voss Said That He “Gives Him A Classic Hey”
I had the time of my life watching this movie. So many cool things caught me off guard while I was watching it. Other than the fact that how incredible this movie was, I appreciate the commercial strategy of Sony for this movie. They absolutely gave nothing up in the Trailers and TV spots. Can't wait for Beyond the Spider-Verse.
Also it’s very much a Lord&Miller thing to do to mix live action and animation. Just think of the last act of The Lego Movie and how that re-conceptualizes everything you saw before.
36:00 That's interesting. It'd be like the reverse of Roger Rabbit where it's not a cartoon character in a live-action world but a live-action character in a cartoon world. I remember when they announced a sequel for Into the Spider-Verse, way before any trailers dropped, I was wondering if we'd get scenes of Miles and Gwen and the others entering a live-action world where Shameik Moore and Hailee Steinfeld would actually get to be their live-action selves for a little bit, but then I realised that in the first movie the characters retain their original style when they travel to other universes; Spider-Man Noir stays black and white, Peni Parker still looks like an anime character, so I knew we wouldn't get the actors in live-action then. Don't know how distracting it would be if we got Andrew Garfield or the others in live-action for the next movie. Not that I don't think it wouldn't mesh well, but they'd stick out so much that I think they'd start stealing too much of the spotlight away from Miles.
Saw the universe 42 part on the teleporter so knew it wasn't out Miles home. What shocked me was when Miles threw on 42's clothes to hide his Spidey costume it was Prowler's colors of purple and green. Kind of realized there where we were going with 42 Miles but still he and Uncle Aaron were scary in that reveal.
He also forgot to mention that this movies masterfully retcons the end of Morbius. Miles was the anomaly that caused mcu vulture to random end up in the venom-verse, not Tom Holland. Credits to 3C Films for noticing that.
@Deathly Hallow iirc Venom was accessing a multiversal hivemind of symbiotes in the post credit scene of Let There Be Carnage, so they probs learned of Peter Parker at the same time of the spell
Its also interesting to see the similarity between Jack Quaid's characters in this movie and The Boys: in both of them, his characters are insecure about being "ordinary/normal" when their partners/love interests have superpowers, and they both end up taking some sort of chemical formula to become "special" and have powers.
14:05 Exactly right Achara! That's why they only had the Insomniac PS4 Peter Parker cameo in this movie and not an Insomniac Miles Morales cameo, because they want us the audience to be under the impression that Miles Morales in EVERY REALITY is not meant to be Spider-Man, and our main Miles is an anomaly. Turns out, Miguel O'Hara is wrong. On Earth-42, Miles was meant to become Spider-Man. I kinda feel like this breakdown spoils that revelation for the next movie, but if the animators put that in this movie, that's on them. I love it though.
Two big things missed from the end. When Miles goes to 42 he is wearing the outfit that Green Goblin wears in No Way Home. Then Prowler Miles speaks with a much more latin accent, most likely because he is speaking more Spanish at home with a single parent from Puerto Rico.
thats not what he was wearing, he was wearing miles 42s version of our miles' jacket so its green and purple instead of black and red likes our miles' jacket should be
The first movie was obviously awesome. This was leveled up. A bit longer, you could feel the lenght. But awesome nonetheless. Very serious stakes this time around. The next one will be off the chains. 💛
On the contrary the movie ended too fast for me. I was so engrossed it didn't feel like it lasted long. I've felt movies drag on too much but this one hit the pacing
THANKS for this crossover!!!!! I'll definitely be on the lookout for the live stream!!!! Tell Jaby that his not recognizing the Comics Code makes me feel ancient :) To answer Jaby's question on 36:26 ; most of the alts featured are from the mega-"SpiderVerse/Geddon" crossover. And I'll admit that I grew up with Grape Drink :)
25:13 see jaby there's a toy called "lattu" which is essentially just a top spun by a needle. It's a really OG toy and the way he wears them as anklets kinda resemble the anklets that warriors used to wear in ancient times
one crazy detail i caught on my first viewing was when Ganke had all his dialogues, there was a laptop with the Marvel Spiderman game open in the background 😍😍
Wish the original crew could have featured more in this film. Was looking forward to more one liners from Nic Cage and I hope they pay off spider-ham’s hammer by the end of the next film.
23:53 It's like saying "queso cheese." Even though it usually refers to thick cheese sauce, "queso" literally means "cheese." Or "The Los Carnales" in the OG Saints Row, where "Los" means "the," and a character keeps brining that up. Same with the "Automated Teller Machine" machines or "Role Plays Game" games.
or ramen noodles. "men" in ramen means noodles already so its redundant. or salsa sauce. or panko bread crumbs. pan means bread, and ko means crumbs. or PIN number... the N in PIN means number... the examples goes on and on
In India every Chai is Chai. Doesn't matter what you mix with it. And weather plays important roles in that. And about Yo-Yo?? India has the Toy called Lattu!! It is a Desi toy old as much marbles. it spins and has many varients from spin from hands to String and even ropes. It's not popular now and owdays kids prefer other games. The yo-yo shown in the movie is western or popularised version. You can say like every other teenager he picked that up. Or maybe some yo-yo trend is going on in that universe.
Kinda funny how this dude noticed the most obscure and minor things throughout this movie but apparently didn't catch Rio having green eyes in the 42 universe lol
I already know one thing that Ryan George is going to mention in the pitch meeting for this movie "If all the Spider-People are chasing him, why doesn't he just turn invisible and do what he wants to do?" "Because he has to lure everyone else away first." "But why?" "Because."
Can't believe Erik didn't mention Miles' jacket colors when he was in Earth 42. It's a hint that he's not in the right universe, and that Miles 42 is prowler. Erik: So did you notice this very very VERY small detail that everyone but me missed? It's a reference from the old movie, if you paid attention, you would get it. : Huh. That's neat. Did you notice that in Earth 42, Miles was wearing a jacket with Prowler colors? Erik: No, what jacket?
When Miles reveals that he's Spider-Man to the alternate mom I thought she was playing dumb and doing the "Who's spiderman?" Bit as a way to let him know she'll keep his secret I didn't know he was in a different dimension
There's an interesting comparison of word used for tea around the world and there are only two major variants - "Cha" and "Tee". Wherever the tea spread by land means, those regions pronounce a variation of CHA like Chai, chah, chay etc.. So regions near China like India, South east Asia, even till Easter Europe like Greece etc call it Tsai, Cha, chah or Chai. And whichever regions got it through sea route call it variations of "Tea" like Tae, Tay, Tei etc.. This is predominantly Western Europe and the West in general. This is majorly true, of course there can be exceptions.
25:15 YoYo is not a part of the cultural rather its referred to the bangle right, because you know that bangles are part of Indian culture and mostly every one adore it, I think they try to render the bangle culture by giving it a spider twist making it used as a web shooter. Also another reference maybe the spinning top in which the kids play it often here ( at least earlier and not now a days) it does consist of threads to make it spin and maybe its stylised other ways like a bangle and threads I think....
I think you guys were thinking about ratatouille... When remy is tasting different things and combining then together and jazz is playing in background to signify different sounds coming together making music 2:40
If you notice at the beginning of the film when miles is changing in his room at Vision Academy, Ganke is playing Spider-Man Ps4 on the PS5 in the background as he is talking to miles😂👌
24:03 Achara what you are referring to is masala chai, which is a specific type of tea in India. However, in general, ‘chai’ can refer to any other tea made by boiling tea leaves or powder in water, with or without sugar, according to one’s preference.”
so theres this panel of spider-gwen 31 where she meets variation of the original Gwen Stacy on the bridge she dies on.theres narration how so many fell and only one jumped. I hope they do that in the next movie but in the way when miles jumps in the first movie. cause I want them to point out A gwen dying is a cannon event
A cow cant change its spots. Fate, determinism... brilliant subtle nod. Also, miles 42 having blue and red light reflection. Foreshadowing hes a hero in a villian world. Among other signs.
Regarding the question about the yo yo for Spider-Man India, i think it was just a clever design to make the bracelet look and feel more interesting when Pavitr Prabhakar uses it
They only showed Sony owned Spider-Man canon events: Tobey and Andrew, which is interesting. Could Sony be ignoring Tom Holland’s Spider-Man because he’s co-owned by Marvel Studios? Or maybe Marvel Studios didn’t sign off on a cameo. I’m curious.
The "Hey" mispronunciation was a reference to the first film when Uncle Aaron teaches Miles how to get a girl and then Miles uses that to defeat Kingpin in the end of the first film.
30:05 i think what he means by 280 spiderman is that the studio made 280 ORGINAL spidermen that doesn't exist in comics and are completely made by the creators of across the spiderverse
50:06 Before this, the moment when he says that if Dad were here, he would've explained it. And his mom gets almost angry at him. At first I didn't know why.
Chai simply means tea. We do take tea without any spices expect sugar. Especially black tea. Sometimes without sugar also. Millennials used to play with yoyos in their childhood.
there is one easter egg i found when i was rewatching the the first movie. Remember when he falls off the building "AAAAAA" , u can see the numbers 4 and 2 on his sides when he is laying on the ground. That scene was 19:57 to 19:59 in ur video, check it out
The thing that you guys were talking about at 02:03, this might be a stretch but I think I might know what it is that Jaby was referring to, the opening credits to 101 Dalmatians, theres a lot Jazz music synced with popping circles and whatnot. Worth taking a look
I’m surprised he didn’t mention that the bad Miles from the alternate universe has a Spanish accent, because since his Dad died, he spends more time with his mother, therefore taking on her accent.
28:00 you guys are lucky , yiu had subtitles, in the theatre we went there was no subtitles, I couldn’t even understand what spiderpunk was saying . His accent and the background music was so high
I bet your thinking of the opening credits for the original 101 Dalmatians animated movie when you were talking about The sequence with the circles and there jazz music
Crazy part is I kinda like what they are doing but is it gonna mess up the multiverse and help Kang? Is the spidermen gonna be the reason things open up more in the MCU to the point the avengers have to fix it? This opens up the multiverse and makes things more interesting on where it could all go.
I just got back from a viewing. During the intervention scene; one of the Spider-Women was modeled on the Jessica Drew from the original comics run of the character.
33:38 According to the co-creator of Miles Morales, Brian Michael Bendis, it was Donald Glover’s campaign to be cast as Spider-Man in The Amazing Spider-Man movie franchise that inspired the creation of Miles Morales in the Ultimate Marvel comics. So this is a full circle moment for the character.
Yoyo isn't part of Indian culture. Kada ( Bracelet for men ) is, like the one Vidyut Jammwal gifted to you. They may have propped the kada into yoyo as Spider-Man has web 🤷
Wrong. The history of yo-yos, aka bandelore, goes back to ancient Greece, 17th century, but there's also a painting from c. 1770 of an Indian woman holding a bandelore. The US patent for the toy was issued in 1866, but it was made popular by a Filipino immigrant named Pedro Flores, who called the toy a "yo-yo," which is a Filipino word that basically means "return."
I feel like if they did add some of the live action Spider-Man actors, it'd be visually distracting. Donald Glover's Prowler seemed really out of place but in place at the same time. That scene was supposed to be both Glover and Miles being the two focal points but it felt like Glover became THE focal point of the scene, because of the juxtaposition of Animation to Real Life. And I feel like Donald Glover's inclusion was absolutely a great idea and added to the movie, but it also sort of took away from it because we were looking out for any Live Action Spider-man that may appear, which sort of took me out of the action sequences in Nueva York. If they do go with Tobey and Andrew in Beyond the Spider-Verse, it would be fine because Glover sort of eased us in. Because the clashing of Art Styles as is in the first film felt strong, then as we kept watching we sort of "adjusted to it" because it's so unique. With the supposed Live Action Miles Morales movie. I think the animated movies are slowly easing us into it. We cant just make a massive jump from a version of a character being animated one way to that same version being animated another way, it sort of takes away their personality and vibe. So I think them slowly introducing Live Action into the Miles movies through Glover is a great idea. I think of it was the 3 narrative points; Set Up, Conflict, Resolution. There are 2 overlapping instances of this through out the movies trilogies (potentially); 1. The introduction of Live Action from the Set up of Glover, potential Maguire/Garfield/Holland cameos, Live Action Morales Movie. 2. The set up for Maguire/Garfield/Holland to appear by introducing the vast Spider-Verse by dipping our toes in the first movie, then traveling through alternate Spider-man universes with Glover being there in Nueva York, then we potentially have the Live Action Trio. TL;DR - The Miles Morales Animated movies are setting up to have him become the live action version of himself by slow introduction of the concept.
So, fun fact, in universe 42, Miles' puffer and hoodie are in Prowler colors, and Rio has different colored eyes. 1610s Rio's eyes are more brown and 42s eyes are more green.
Most of the Spider people are from the comics, including Spider-Byte and Hobie Brown, not sure why comic panels for them weren't included in the breakdown
Loved the movie. Here is what I am hoping for. Giancarlo Esposito as Old Man Morales in Beyond the Spider Verse, in case they do a big reveal and bring all the alternate Miles Morales Spider Men as well.
46:19 that HEYYY was not meant for that scene it was for the first time miles met gwen in school and pat her shoulder and said HEYYY thats wat erik meant i guess
I think at the end you kinda ran over Achara's point to not include the other live action spidermen... She was saying it would have taken the focus off of the main animated spider people that the story is based around. Namely Miles, Gwen so on. For example I remember loving all of that happened in the movie but the things that stood out to me the most was the real Donald as Prowler, the live action scenes in the webs and the fact they were talking about Dr Strange. So she's not wrong. Glad they kept it to mostly animated for this one so it stood as its own great movie instead of gaining popularity because of other movie influences.
Exactly. I agree with Achara. Cameos are ok but I don't want to see live action characters taking over the spider verse or given substantial airtime for that matter
About the audio issues, that was a widespread issue in theaters for some reason depending what showing you saw there’s lines I only caught with the captions when I watched at home that I couldn’t hear at all at theater,
Yoyos n beyblades were very famous in the younger generation back when they were popular, but it probably is a reference to lattus which are spinning toys only they spin on the ground
Miguel O'Hara is the real and only anomaly and I suspect that revelation will be in the 3rd movie. Everyone else was meant to be bitten by a spider but his powers were made by him.
Real ignorant question but how does New Rockstar and Screencrush etc have access to the movie to do these breakdowns? Do studios give them advance copies for this purpose or is it something else?
24:05 Nope, Chai / Cha is Tea The parts of the world that got exposed to tea via sea route trade call it Tea / Te whereas the part of the world who got it via land trade (including India and Russia) calls it Cha
I agree with Achara. Cameos are ok but I don't want to see live action characters taking over the spider verse or given substantial airtime for that matter

I noticed the spiderman one too
Yes, I caught the Spider-man 2 thing as well!
Another one is when he fell and broke the gober the number 42 was next to him
I noticed this detail when I watched this film for the 1st time in theatres, kinda felt proud of myself lol.

Thankfully the next movie was done before the writer’s strike
as an animated movie I dont think it would be affected. Differeing guild.
@@iceman10129 every movie has writers mate
@@iceman10129 Then why did the Big Mouth writing staff go on strike?
If nothing happens, beyond the spider verse is scheduled for March 2024
Next one might be tho 😭 wich sucks since the movie ended in a cliffhanger

I think that YO YO is into yoyo its basically the Kada type of thing which Vidyut sir gave you..and he is using his web and his kada as Yoyo thing
This one reminded me why i love art 💯
The "Hey" mispronunciation was a reference to the first film when Uncle Aaron teaches Miles how to get a girl and then Miles uses that to defeat Kingpin in the end of the first film.
30:05 i think what he means by 280 spiderman is that the studio made 280 ORGINAL spidermen that doesn't exist in comics and are completely made by the creators of across the spiderverse
50:06 Before this, the moment when he says that if Dad were here, he would've explained it.
And his mom gets almost angry at him. At first I didn't know why.
Yes the circles showing up in the starting drum sequence is a reference to oskar fischinger who made music videos like tht
24:29 chai = tea
tea with spices added is called 'Masala' chai, translating to 'Spiced' tea
Bagel being the symbol of multiverse from EEAAO and also this film is mind blowing
The “Hey” was a reference to the first movie.
I absolutely loved this movie. I don’t see any other movie being better than it this year!
ending was bad
@Om Patel curious as to why it or you thought it was bad?
Flash could be
@Andrew Ramirez it's not bad. it's a cliffhanger and on a high note. people cannot wait these days
@Rohith kumar no I agree, was curious as to his reason for saying it.
Chai simply means tea. We do take tea without any spices expect sugar. Especially black tea. Sometimes without sugar also.
Millennials used to play with yoyos in their childhood.
46:20 he was quoting him from the last movie when he shocked king pin and what he uncle was teaching him about confidence in himself.
there is one easter egg i found when i was rewatching the the first movie.
Man i couldn't keep up with some of the shit even with subtitles 😂
25:00 jaby yoyo is common with kids. it could also be referencing DAMRU, a musical instrument used by gods that is shaped like a yoyo
I bet your thinking of the opening credits for the original 101 Dalmatians animated movie when you were talking about The sequence with the circles and there jazz music
they missed when ganke was playing insomniac's spider man 2 in the dorm
Crazy part is I kinda like what they are doing but is it gonna mess up the multiverse and help Kang? Is the spidermen gonna be the reason things open up more in the MCU to the point the avengers have to fix it? This opens up the multiverse and makes things more interesting on where it could all go.
I just got back from a viewing. During the intervention scene; one of the Spider-Women was modeled on the Jessica Drew from the original comics run of the character.
That was Julia Carpenter, not Jess.
@@RedX2712 Thank you for the correction. I recognized her but got my costumes crossed.
Saw the film today. Lives up to the hype imo.
9:40 THATS EXACTLY WHAT I POINTED OUT AS WELL JABYYYYY
33:38 According to the co-creator of Miles Morales, Brian Michael Bendis, it was Donald Glover’s campaign to be cast as Spider-Man in The Amazing Spider-Man movie franchise that inspired the creation of Miles Morales in the Ultimate Marvel comics. So this is a full circle moment for the character.
Anyone else think Uncle Aaron punch Miles in the face and not the bag at first? Lol
That audio thing of Gwen happened at my theatre also , i thought it was theatre's problem 😅
About micro detail, if you look at gwen eyes while hanging upside down with mile you can feel the weight on her eyes lid due to gravity.
Digging the Ross “unaaagi” shirt 😂
When miles talk to is roommate, is roommate was playing spiderman 2 because peter was having the claw on is back.
About the audio issues, that was a widespread issue in theaters for some reason depending what showing you saw there’s lines I only caught with the captions when I watched at home that I couldn’t hear at all at theater,
the first part of the drumming part with the circles reminded me of ratatouille, when they were trying cheese and shi
Yoyos n beyblades were very famous in the younger generation back when they were popular, but it probably is a reference to lattus which are spinning toys only they spin on the ground
"My holes can take me anywhere"
Ayo what? 😳😏
on the scene with genki, you can actually see on the computer, spiderman ps4 playing
14:30 Dude forgot to mention the Spiderson made by that rapper whose song was used in the film!
It was cool seeing the Heung Min Son poster
Btw...the word "chai" (spelled diferently but with same pronunciation) also just means tea in Turkish and Romanian 😊.
That was not Yo Yo jaby 😅, they are kinda like bangles
Watched it two days ago and I havent seen a movie this good in a while!
But sad we have to wait for the next movie...
also random but Miguel is hot
I’m getting ready to see it for the second time on Sunday. Am I tripping or was the MTV Spider-Man not in the film?
We did see the playstation miles walking with the PlayStation peter
24:05
Nope, Chai / Cha is Tea
The parts of the world that got exposed to tea via sea route trade call it Tea / Te whereas the part of the world who got it via land trade (including India and Russia) calls it Cha
I agree with Achara. Cameos are ok but I don't want to see live action characters taking over the spider verse or given substantial airtime for that matter
