It always amazes me when the younger generation discovers this man. Yes there were no tricks, no BS he was a national treasure. Lots you can learn from real talent.

That comment of yours made me smile because it's so true; he was a master showman who loved performing to a live crowd.
Elvis was the biggest star on the planet in the 1950s. After the army, he spent most of the 1960s making musical movies. Unfortunately, most of them were formulaic fluff and lots of the songs in those movies were awful. Financially rewarding but not artistically rewarding; they nearly killed his career. That's why this 1968 Singer Special is now known as the "68 Comeback Special". For me, it's easily one of the best things he ever did and Trying To Get To You is a standout among many standouts. Glad you guys appreciated what you saw. It's good to be reminded of why the greats remain great.
The black leather sections are my favorite part of the Special!

A little background on the '68 Comeback Special: Elvis requested that a couple of his original band mates (Scotty Moore on guitar and D.J. Fontana on drums although he played on a guitar case here) come and play with him. When the director saw them jammin' in the dressing room he made it part of the show. They hadn't been together in years while Elvis was making movies so they were having tons of fun. To see more of this check out "That's All Right" (this was Elvis's first regional hit recording); "Baby, What You Want Me To Do", and "Tiger Man". Everything from the '68 Comeback Special is dynamite!
It's called a jam session. I love this performance. He was having fun. A joy to watch and hear.
Everyone in the beetles, Bruce Springsteen,u2,Roy orbison, Carl perkins,buddy Holly,,Eddie chochran , the who, the rolling stones , gene Vincent, Johnny cash, Bob Dylan, Mark knopfler,Tom Jones,Rod Stewart,David Bowie to name a few the list is long.
They all worshiped the ground he stood on and called him the greatest he was the firstest with the mostest thats why he's the king, he changed everything , music, style ,clothing.
He had his flaws like many artists but he was put on this earth by God to chamge the world and he did in the 50s

Love your reactions! Seeing people hearing Elvis who never did before is do nice to watch. Over 50 years after his death , on video, and he still commands your attention! He sang , Blues, Rock, Pop, Country and Gosoel! No one was as versatile!
At the beginning of this session he commented someone forgot the guitar strap. You could see he wanted to stand and move but no guitar strap. The GOAT!!❤

I've watched alot of concert footage of Elvis and it is amazing how he commanded the stage and had audiences in the palm of his hand .
Watch the Aloha From Hawaii ,1973 concert version of the song Fever. All he had to do was jerk his head ,or bend his knees and the women went crazy He laughed to himself because he found it funny that they could be so easily triggered into a reaction
This is one of his lesser known songs from the 50s. He did it in 68 again just jamming and goofing around. But he did it with so much animalistic rawness , intensity and rock n roll majesty .... people are still talking about it today. Did you ever ask yourself WHY? The greatness of what he did so long ago will outlive us all......
Elvis sang this song when he was at Sun Studios from 1954 55. It must have been a song he really liked. His voice was higher and its really good . If you get the chance listen to the songvBlue Moon from 54 . He was 19 years old its haunting .

First movie I watched of Elvis was Girls Girls Girls I was probably 8 He passed away when I was 10 -- Aug 16 1977 .... THE WHOLE WORLD LITERALLY MOURNED!!!!! I never saw my Daddy Cry TIL THAT DAY!!!! He had all his albums and played guitar and sang Elvis songs all the time even had Elvis Sideburns Saw him in Concert in 76 I just lost My Dad Last year to Covid age 73 ... and Elvis really reminds me of Daddy.... so much!!!
