Yep, it's red or blue for me. Got lucky with this purchase. Was looking at a 40th Anniversary red or 15-17 blue actually. Plus a 14+ K1600GTL-E. Then this thing popped up!! Snapped it up. Also got a candy prominence red VFR1200F. I'd like the chrome blackout on the exhaust, but it won't kill me. Yeah, had to be tour premium. 99% sure they all come chromed anyway🤔 BTW, yep, leave the luggage on my VFR1200F too. Mega handy. If I really want to scream across town, mega fast, 💯 guaranteed, I'll chuck on a backpack & grab the R1. I'm retired, I don't do peak or 9-5. It's all good. Not scared to ride the wing around during day, though tbh, VFR1200F is the smarter choice, hence, likely tool used. Enjoy big blue. DCT airbag, wise man. 👍🇦🇺💯
Love my DCT bagger. I do a fair bit of gravel road and farm track riding getting to jobs. Last thing I need is all that excess plastic flapping around. Never carry a passenger so the back stuff is pointless. Loose junk goes in panniers and big stuff on the passenger seat. Like yesterday I delivered a 45kg centre pivot booster pump 120kays strapped on the seat. Couldn't do that with a tour pack. Plus the look of the bagger is awesome. DCT all the way, I replaced my FJR with the Wing. The main reasons being that the Yam just wants to go too fast and is damn heavy to pick up and the plastics bust easy. The wing is a piece of cake to pick up, nothing gets broken and the creeper gear is great. The wing on a 500km trip just purrs along on cruise whereas the FJR begs you to drop a gear and get your howl on. Then either the wallopers, kanga, or tree cleans you up. The DCT and cruise drains away the squid which is a good thing. DCT is awesome on gravel, put the bike into rain mode and cruise at speed without worrying about getting chucked off. Riding a DCT Wing in manual defeats the purpose, get out of the city and get some country miles up.
DCT + manual + sport = 😁😁😁 Used pretty much every possible configuration. There's about 2 or 3 bikes wrapped into 1. Get my ST action on my VFR1200F. Also a DCT 💯❤️❤️ Bit more sport than tour, but that's just fine by me. No goldwing, VFR1200F & R1??? 🤔 🤔 🤔 Might get a K1600GTL. Maybe the grand America? FJR? Am curious. 1400GTR? Maybe. But I got all 3 so I'm good. VFR1200F really is the best of both my wing & R1. It gets a fair bit of use. As for continued ST action into the future??? I've been watching the H2 SX SE. Might trade the VFR1200F in, in about 5yrs maybe? Once they get down to around $12k. Love a good sports tourer. Still want to try a K1600 but. That & a wing is just stupid but🤣

If buying used, the tour is probably the way to go. You can always get the kit to make trunk removal a 15 minute job. If buying new and you're already stretching your budget, bagger is a better value. Cheaper to go that route and add an aftermarket top case. As for the DCT.... had it on my little CTX700 and LOVED it. Now have a (very used) K1600gtl and miss not needing to shift. Going to replace the Beamer with a used GW (DCT for sure)..... and if tour, I'll be missing the GTLs 60 SECOND trunk removal capability. Honda..... WHY THE F DIDN'T YOU COPY THAT??? The Spyder RT Limited also has that ease. FFS Honda, get a clue.
DCT x2. VFR1200F. I'm a luggage whore. That barely has luggage removed either. In fact just got a 45L box to replace the 31L. So it's running 105L now. The wing just looks well put together with the top box. Not a add on or afterthought. It is rock solid also not a hint of wobble. Not hard to remove. Not 5min. But not hard. If you only tour 1 or 2 times a year, buy the delete kit for the rest. I've pulled mine off to fit a 4" back, 1" up adapter. Massive difference. Still looks sweet. Just as rock solid. Last tour removed hitch rack and placed a 35L dry bag on pillion with ease, vs, squeezing in my 26L and having the 18L on hitch rack. Yet to fit or need or use trunk rack, but there if required also. Could take either the 18L or 26L if needed. But light. As in rain gear, jackets, layers, clothes etc. You've seen me use the top box for daily duties. That's a given. Just way to easy to use. Central locking, drop 💩 in walk away. I chuck a million things on the pillion under the cargo net. Again just so easy quick and practical. Do the same on the VFR1200F. Now that Lil fella(265kg 😂😂) is a absolute commute demon. Yet can also grab a week's groceries with ease also, and then some. And I eat alot! I do alot of running around on both my DCTs. Luggage was a non negotiable. Touring? Weekender, 3,4,5 day etc, summer, winter, rain. Never once concerned, oh, 💩, what do I carry. Pack it, bring it. Tented a few times. But only weekenders. Have plans for a larger hitch rack to carry my 60L dry bag if needed. All the gear, somewhat of a idea. 💡🤔
