Just a tip for those doing low carb, gluten free, Keto, etc. I used coconut flour in place of the regular flour and I honestly could NOT tell the difference.

I made this last night for the first time on Valentine's Day (never try something for the first time the same day it's due btw) and it turned out great! She didn't mention how many degrees to set the oven to but I did it to 350 degrees F and had to leave it in for 1 hour and 15 minutes to get the color she got
This recipe is great! I baked the chicken at 400 for 1 hour because she did it that way in another one of her videos. I used chicken broth instead of stock so I didn’t season the gravy directly but I would recommend Tony’s creole more spice if you want to. If not, Lawry’s or (smoked) paprika. I used it in the chicken and it was awesome! I’ve done this before using a baking dish and an oval roaster pan so just use what you have.

I used chicken broth (low sodium) instead of stock for the gravy and it still tastes awesome. Though I didn't put more seasoning in the gravy.

Tried this out last night and it was amazing! I grew up vegan (by force 😭😭), so i dont know how to cook meat. This recipe helped me so much and my fiance loved it! Will definitely be using the recipes and buying the cookbook😋

OMG girl, I just found your video. Reminds me SO much of watching my Nana (my papa's mom from Mobile, Alabama) cook. She never used a recipe and that is how I learned to cook, watching her make meals for our entire family (because my city-girl mamma was a terrible cook and nobody wanted her to make supper, LOL). She always had a running dialogue as she prepared the meal- a pinch here and a dab there. I don't think she ever owned any measuring cups! @@kenishashamburger2953 cooking it for an hour on 400 degrees in a cast iron skillet wouldn't burn the chicken?
@@van2.060 Yeah I wouldn't do that. An hour at 400 is too long for chicken parts unless you want dried out/burnt chicken. I'd throw it in the broiler on high for 30 minutes or so, checking it often. The goal is to get the chicken crispy on the outside, without overcooking the inside. But some people like dry chicken, I guess. I like crispy outside/juicy inside chicken.

Chicken usually goes in the oven at 325°f.
But using a cast iron pan, I would check the chicken temp after 1/2 hr of baking.
Definitely not 400° for an hour in ANY pan.
Dani I made this smothered chicken and on GOD. It was the best smothered chicken I’ve ever had honest truth. However, I was so excited to taste it and was so happy as to how it came out. That I burned the FLUCKED out of my hand when I grabbed the handle of my Emeril skillet.....🤯🤯🤯. The dish came out DELISH...👍🏾

Where are you living in the U.S? Grocery stores as far as I know, they are considered essential. They are all open, and it's pretty much full. Meat sometimes is hard to come by, but even that isn't a real issue.
I am making smothered chicken as we speak, and I just came back from the grocery store with 10lbs. of chicken quarters, and all the spices, cream and whatnot. I wouldn't want to live were you live if you truly do have this problem.

alannaaa nicoleee Chicken stock is made from the flavoring of chicken bones while chicken broth is made from the flavoring of the meat part of chicken.
Chicken stock is suppose to have more flavor and it thickens up.
