BUTTER PECAN FRENCH TOAST | WITH HOMEMADE BUTTER SYRUP

For the syrup
2 cups sugar
1 cup whole milk
2tsp salt
2 sticks butter
1 tsp vanilla extract or extract of choice such as maple, almond etc.
2 tsp baking soda
1 cup chopped pecans * or more *
To make the French toast:
2 tbs cooking oil ( olive oil or vegetable, plus 2 tbs butter )
Bread ( I used challah bread, but you can use brioche.. or thick cut Texas toast )
3 eggs
1 cup whole milk or half n half
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp salt
powdered sugar ( optional )
Things needed
large skillet
knife
measuring cups and spoons
Large bowl

Btw, I own a 12" cast iron skillet that I purchased over 5 years ago and named it Ebony- right off the shelf! I use it almost daily 🍳🍳🍳
From my experience if you mix the cinnamon with vanilla and egg it doesn't clump up once you add the milk. You'll have even spots
This is true, that's why I mix the eggs before putting anything else in the french toast batter. It works everytime. 😉😃

I made your butter syrup today, because I made some french toast from freshly baked brioche bread. I used almonds instead because that's what I had. I toasted the almonds in the air fryer, allowed to cool, crushed in a bag and added to the warm syrup. Then I add 1/2 cup Amaretto liquor to the syrup. Oh I was dancing all over the kitchen with each bite.
Btw y'all who are dairy free can use dairy free milk and butter. Just find the creamiest kind.
The vanilla, Amaretto, and pecans just made this syrup simply heavenly.
