There used to be a lot of soapbox racing in the US. No one really does it anymore because kiddos have their iPhones & PS5s. Towns don't want to close down entire city blocks for race courses, etc. But mainly not for the same reason the UK has a better cycling scene, soapbox scene, etc... people in the US are lazy couch potatoes and would rather finish off a second bag of Ruffles watching telly than go outside and do something active.
I love how the Badaboom Beast driver decides to focus on waving to the crowd instead of actually steering and then mows one of his own team down who's running down the middle of the track.

They do have them in America. Red Bull tour the world holding the events in different countries. I certainly remember the Iowa one and I'm pretty sure there have been more. Perhaps the problem is with the sheer size of the U.S, they go largely unnoticed if not held in your own state?
@@donaldgrant9067 Would you travel thousands of miles to attend one on the other side of the country? Nobody outside of the cities they are held in are likely to even be aware. Every country's events are televised here in the UK. I'm not in London and I've NEVER been aware of when it takes place.

It seems a lot of people think there’s some advantage to having different sized wheels…if you put them in the front it’s just gonna make your steering setup more responsive (likely too much) and if you put on the back wheels you basically just loose out on ground clearance that you could otherwise try and capitalize on.

It is an idiotic thought process that would lead one to conclude "funny looking soapbox car in an English soapbox race = British humor". BTW, there is no "humor" to extrapolate in the first place. Racers try to create striking, memorable, and amusing vehicles for soapbox races- the reaction to these designs would be the same regardless of where the race is held, from Dallas to London to Paris to fucking Budapest. Again, it has absolutely nothing to do with "British humor".
