I loved Mr T in the action TV series the A-Team! Ans I was never a big WWF fan, but fun watching him and Hogan as tag-team champs and take on all the "Evil bad-guys" He was killer in this movie--reminded me of a pit-bull always barking and looking to bite someone!! As for your Q on the stuff they use to "Snap a boxer awake" --A strong hit of mentholative stuff like Tiger Balm or other type product..hits ya like a big breath of fresh air to your head and helps ya clear cobwebs.
Mr.T was in D.C. Cab (1983), his 2nd film. Directed by the late Joel Schumacher. He's part of an ensemble cast. Not the lead of the film, but he was on the poster and did what he does best. Hulk Hogan's first film as an lead, No Holds Barred (1989). Yes it's a wrestling film and it's Hulk playing Hulk (just with a different name). But it is kinda fun.
Funny story; at the premiere of this movie, during the statue scene when Clubber makes his comments toward Adrian, Mr. T's mother got so offended and walked right out, saying to her son that she never taught him to speak to a woman like that, and Mr. T had to convince her and explain how it was only for the movie and that he didn't mean it 😂 great reaction, ladies!
Yea, then he released a music album two years later in 1984 which included a song called _Treat Your Mother Right_ ... then later got involved in a domestic abuse scandal against his mother. I don't remember the details (maybe it was all a hoax?), but he's done a lot of good in his life.
@@tsntana no. That’s Jennifer Flavin Stallone. His current wife. Sasha was the mother of Sage (his son in Rocky 5) he also has another son with her but he’s autistic.
Don’t listen to anyone telling you to skip any of the last 3,there all worth watching and add to the series, obviously some are better than others but there all good.
Yes, the famous Mr.T's catchphrase "I pity the fool" was used in this movie for the first time. Stallone heard about the phrase as a title of a 1961 soul song and inserted it in the script as a Clubber Lang's line. Mr.T liked it a lot and started to use it immediately.
"Don't stand toe-to-toe with him." - Paulie, first Clubber fight Small line, but a rare time Paulie was right. I think of that line when I can't do something (alone). This is a masterclass in the Hero's Journey. Whenever I have a setback in life, this is the movie. You need not only the strength from others, but also belief in yourself.
Carl Weathers was so wonderful as Apollo, always a showman, but had respect and sportsmanship. Their rivalry blossoming into a friendship over the series is my favourite aspect of the Rocky movies
Paulie's actor Burt Young was actually a boxer in US Marines and had a record of 32 wins, 2 loses, with 26 of wins coming by knockout. He claims that he fought professionally under a different name and had 17 wins with zero loses. So, he could hold his own in a fight.
Rocky throughout all of the movies….is ultimately really just a love story between Rocky and Adrian…. And the ability to persevere in life, no matter what punches it throws at you!
29:29...She predicts it perfectly...does anyone want to talk to him about what he's going through?...enter Adrian. "I'm AFRAID!" Rocky admitting that still hit's hard. Rocky always has and always will be a love story about a fighter.
The true lesson that i got from this movie is that even when you lose (Rocky I) and overcome that loss (Rocky II), it's not always a *happy-ever-after* from that point on. Life is *always* about overcoming every single loss that happens every single day.
The weeks leading up to a fight, it's a group effort Rocky and Micky weren't a unit, while clubber and his team were. Clubber took it seriously, while Rocky did not. Yes, when you're in the ring it's 1v1, but you have your trainer and your team behind you until then. And when it's fight night when it's an hour before the bell rings and the fight begins, the anxiousness and nervousness is at it's highest, the coach is supposed to bring you back down to earth, keep you calm, keep you focused, that all went out the window when Micky got hurt. Rocky lost the fight before it even began. Like Apollo said lost the fight for all the wrong reasons. It's great story telling.
Both this and the start of the Rambo Saga with 'First Blood', same year. Sly's career was into overdrive. The fights (written by Sly, credited as boxing choreographer) are pretty good. Rocky's 2nd fight with Clubber was a major step up. Mr.T's introduction was golden and pretty much made his career legendary. Phenomenal as Clubber Lang, in his physical prime, talking that s*** (first-ever 'I Pity The Fool'). Burgess Meredith (passed in 1998) as Mickey for one last time was so heartbreaking. Rocky & Apollo's friendship, rivals to friends, working together as true champs. The statue at the top of the museum steps is still such a meta moment. Having up there for so long for real, lots of love. As an kid, i thought it was just for the movie. Eye of The Tiger, the first of 3 songs recorded for the saga by Survivor. Great movie theme and still is a classic workout song. This was the one film of the saga I had seen the least. But I definitely think this was one of the best '3rd films' in a franchise. Originally, this was planned as the final film in the series and that itself is crazy Btw, when you react Rocky IV; you have 2 choices:the original cut (1985) or the director's cut (2021).
Two of my favorite fights in the entire Rocky franchise in this movie. Probably my two favorite fights overall. The wrestling match is absolutely ridiculous especially from a wrestling standpoint... but if they admitted wrestling was staged in 1982, Hulk would've gotten blackballed from the business. (I kid you not. Hogan later put Richard Belzer in a guillotine choke on national TV and made him legitimately pass out to 'prove' that wrestling was real. Well, the old school wrestlers really did know how to fight for real in case they had to fight fans to get back to the locker room...) And that last bout looked absolutely like a real bout except I think the ref would have _stopped_ the fight when Lang stopped adequately defending himself. Seeing Rocky _block_ and _dodge_ was just exactly what I needed out of that fight. Only problem is that the sound design made Lang's punch into Rocky's blocks sound exactly like his punches into Rocky's head. So it feels like a lot of people who watch this movie don't really get into Rocky's strategy until he starts bobbing and weaving and ducking the punches. (Side note -- I also got to be a boxing and MMA fan for a while, my favorite boxers being Evander Holyfield, and boxer-turned-mayor 0f Kyiv, Ukraine, Vitaly Klitschko. And three of my favorite MMA fighters are also three of my favorite wrestlers, Ken Shamrock, Brock Lesnar, and Ronda Rousey. I think my favorite MMA fighter ever was Matt Hughes though. /aside)
If no one has let you know, the stuff they waved in front of his nose is ammonia salts.(smelling salts) It smells like super concentrated ammonia cleaner. Our coach would use it when someone got their bell rung and seemed a little dazed. They used them on me when one of my teammates wasn't watching where he was running and slammed his forehead into my jaw. It will get your attention in a hurry. I think it would make a corpse flinch. Great reaction BTW. I've got a friend that moved here to Oklahoma from Philly years ago. It's cool to hear y'all talk about the local landmarks that you recognize in the films. It adds a home style nostalgic touch to the reactions. Please keep going with the series. My favorite is the last, Rocky Balboa.
7:59 Since you asked about Hogan, he did get his start with the WWE(then known as WWF{World Wrestling Federation}. But when he was cast in the movie, he left the WWF, did his work on the film, and then went to the AWA {American Wrestling Association}. When Rocky III was a success, he got lured to come back to the WWF in late 1983. Then in January of 1984, Hulkamania was born when he defeated The Iron Sheik to win the WWF World Heavyweight Championship.
Apollo’s Trainer has seen this before. When Apollo was training for his rematch with Rocky he didn’t have the look either that he use to have when he first trained to be a professional boxer in Los Angeles, CA. The Trainer sees the same thing in Rocky’s eyes.
Best lines- 'I didn't know Mr T was in a Rocky film' 'There are more tissues if you need them' 'I Pity The Fool' was a 1961 blues song by Bobby Bland, also recorded by David Bowie in 1965(with Led Zeppelin's Jimmy Page on guitar). Maybe the Mr T phrase came from that? After this,Mr T became the good guy in 'The A-Team' and then starred in the film 'Toughest Man In The World' where he was the hero that helped local kids in the community-great film.
During his High School and College years, Laurence Tureaud (Mr. T) was a talented football player, and a champion wrestler. He enlisted in the US Army in 1975 and served in the Military Police Corps. After leaving the Army he tried out for the Green Bay Packers but he failed to make the team due to a knee injury. Besides his portrayal as Clubber Lang, Mr. T is best remembered for his role as B.A. Baracus on the A-Team (1983-1987). It was one of the most popular TV shows of that decade. He also had his own Saturday morning cartoon series called “Mister T,” which ran from 1983 to 1985. There was even a Mr. T cereal manufactured by Quaker Oats. Usually Mr. T is portrayed as a hero, and in real life he seems like a really good guy who strives to be a positive influence, but he did such an amazing job here portraying an villain in Rocky III. He has such an intimidating figure, which is fitting since before he was an actor, Mr. T worked as a bouncer and bodyguard. But That’s how he created his persona, and got discovered. In 1980, Sylvester Stallone spotted Mr. T taking part in "America's Toughest Bouncer" competition as part of an NBC series called “Games People Play.” It was here in Rocky III where he first said the phrase “I pity the fool,” and the rest is history. According to an interview given by Mr. T, he attended the movie's premiere with his mother. During the scene where he yells lurid remarks at Adrian, his mother turned to him and said, "I did not raise you to talk to a lady like that." She then stormed out of the theater. At the time Hulk Hogan was a very talented and popular wrestler who hadn’t yet become the cultural icon that we known today. He received the initial offer to be in the movie after a wrestling match against Andre the Giant at Shea Stadium in New York. At first, he thought one of the wrestlers was trying to pull a prank on him. In the scene where Rocky body-slams Thunderlips out of the ring, Sylvester Stallone admitted that he couldn't dead-lift Hulk Hogan, so he had Hogan jump up on to his arms. Ironically, Hulk Hogan was fired by WWF chairman Vincent J. McMahon for accepting the role of Thunderlips. Not long afterwards, Vincent K. McMahon bought the company from his father, and decided to bring back Hogan back to the WWF using him as the centerpiece of his expansion into other parts of the country thanks in large part due to his popularity from his appearance in Rocky III. This culminated in the first Wreslemania in 1985 where Hogan teamed with Mr. T. The stuff they are putting under Rocky’s nose are smelling salts. They are usually a combination of ammonia, water, and ethanol that are often used on athletes as a stimulant to revive someone or keep them alert. You ladies are wonderful! Thank you again for your reaction videos. If you both like sports movies you should totally watch Cinderella Man, Friday Night Lights (2004), Miracle, 42, Remember the Titans, Cool Runnings, and Hoosiers.
Honestly Rocky would have lost to Lang in the 1st fight cause he didn't take the fight serious the way he was training. There is actually 6 Rocky movies before the Creed movies. Fun Fact: the female fan who asked Rocky for a kiss during his training is actually his his Stallones ex wife. Interesting fact: during the Premier of Rocky 3, Mr. T's mom was in attendance and walked out during the movie she was pissed at her son for his role.
1. My favorite of the Rocky movies. Rocky IV is almost as good as this. 2. Where I lived had that pinball machine and the Playboy machine where I kicked the crap out of both of them. (Top 5 scores) 3. Micky's death shakes everyone.😇 I was waiting for your responses.😭😭 4. "Eye of the Tiger" was from a band called Survivor. Their other hit was "High on You". 5. The woman swooning over Rocky that Micky chases away was Sly's wife IRL 6. Kudos to Mr. T for playing a man with absolutely no redeeming qualities.
Try short circuit 1+2 , just two quirky 80s moives that as a little kid at the time hold a place in my heart . Or even a film called the boy who could fly as something abit different. 👍
To understand the strategy of the second fight you have to understand that Stallone was a heavyweight boxing enthusiast and particularly a HUGE fan of Mohammad Ali. Many of the elements of the fighters and fights were taken from Ali's career. Apollo is modeled after Ali. This fight was an homage to Ali's first fight with George Foreman where Ali used the "Rope-a-dope" strategy to wear down George Foreman who everyone thought was unbeatable at the time. Clubber Lang's personality is nothing like George Foreman's though even at the time of his fight with Ali.
Hogan actually used to be really tall. Years of back surgery has him around 6 foot now, but back in the day dude was huge. Hogan in his prime was around 6'7 and Stallone was around 5'10.
6:35 - "Dude, don't even try. He's gonna block all of them, it's like bro, I do this for a living." Uh . . . in two movies when did we ever see Rocky block?!
The beach scene with Adrian and the Clubber Lang 2d fight are my favorite Rocky moments. Now that you have the Clubber Lang reference, please react to Ted and Ted 2.
Rocky upset over Mickey's death had him feeling empty. Guilt, grief, and the loss of his title wrecked his confidence. Apollo believed in him, and with Adrian by his side, he was ready. Mickey knew Clubber's weakness. Rocky did the Muhammad Ali Rope a Dope. He got Clubber to wear himself out! It was the best ending!
The one missed opportunity in the entire Rocky including Creed franchise is not doing a spinoff with Clubber Lang. There is so much they could've fleshed out with Clubber and Mr. T has been around all this time. They could've done the same thing with Clubber as the Karate Kid franchise did with Johnny and Cobra Kai. Just like Johnny, the fact that we know nothing about him other than when he shows up to be a jerk and the fights makes him an open book to flesh out and build around. HUGE missed opportunity.
I’ve been waiting long time for you guys reaction video of Rocky 3😀 I couldn’t stop crying too when Mick died😭 Finally,It’s the best for yours reaction the movie.😊
30:26 Remember how Adrian was in the 1st movie? All shy & timid?? She sure came out of that shell. She's a different person. 35:14 That staredown,...Clubber Lang (Mr. T) couldn't intimidate Rocky and he knew it. His face showed it. 39:28 yes.
Hi girls, I'm a new subscriber...about six hours new actually, and I just finished all three of your Rocky reactions. If you liked Rocky 3, I'm sure you're gonna love the 4th Rocky. My favorite of the series is Rocky Balboa, the 6th installment. And yes, continue on through the Creed series also. I'd love to see your reactions to those as well. I don't know about Mr. T's "I pity the fool" phrase. It may have been a line of his in The A-Team TV show and he just adopted it somehow.
The thing they were putting under Rocky's nose are called Smelling Salts. It's a very pungent ammonium salt that helps wake you up and stimulates your nervous system. Olympic lifters and strongman athletes also use it before big lifts. You both should smell some before your Rocky IV reaction!
They both look good, but Tori is so fine. I met Mr Y when I was a kid. He was jogging in downtown Chicago. He actually approached me and my family. He was smiling and gave us autographs. Genuinely a very good person. He gave to charities in the city and was definitely a man of the people.
My second favorite Rocky film after part 4, which I can’t wait to see you react to! And after this one it’s 3 more Rocky movies before you get to the Creed trilogy
I was born in 1983 when I saw it I was 8 years old. For me, the movies from the 80s and 90s I love the first one that I saw secretly from my parents, it was predator from 1987, great reaction, good video, best regards from a small place called Uruguay 🇺🇾❤ 😊✌️ greetings girls 😘
It's dope to watch ya'll react. You're talking about Mr. T and Hulk Hogan, NOBODY knew them before this movie. I was 11 and saw this at the theaters, and that's our first introduction into Mr.T and Hulk Hogan!
it was hulk hogan in that movie :) originally when he was in wwe before 1984 he was just another wrestler and when he took this role he got let go of wwe but came back in late 1983 and the rest is history :)
This was before Hulk Hogan became a mega star in Pro wrestling and it was this movie that helped him become popular. At the time he was working for Vince McMahon Sr. and when he told Vince that he was going to try out for the movie, Vince told him he would fire him. Hogan did the movie and was fired. After the movie came out Hogan worked in other companies in the US and overseas. When Vince McMahon Jr. bought the company from his dad, he rehired Hulk to be his top star as he took the WWF nationwide. The rest as they say is history. Hulk Hogan and Mr. T would work together in the WWF and they main evented the first WrestleMania show in 1985. Stallone even introduced Hogan on the night that Hogan was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.
Originally Sly stallone wanted to have queen's song Another one bites the dust for the montage but the studio didn't want to pay the music licence for it but we still have a great choice in One of the tiger 🐯

Fun fact: That line came from the Hulk (Avengers #1) in 1962.

I do believe the phrase came about when Mr. T was in a tv show called "The A team" back in the early 80's.

Thanks so much for all of these tidbits!
(Top 5 scores)
3. Micky's death shakes everyone.😇 I was waiting for your responses.😭😭
4. "Eye of the Tiger" was from a band called Survivor. Their other hit was "High on You".
5. The woman swooning over Rocky that Micky chases away was Sly's wife IRL
6. Kudos to Mr. T for playing a man with absolutely no redeeming qualities.
Thanks for watching with us and for these fun facts.
Try short circuit 1+2 , just two quirky 80s moives that as a little kid at the time hold a place in my heart .
Or even a film called the boy who could fly as something abit different. 👍
Thanks for the suggestion!
Nice! Now, I’m looking forward to your reaction to Rocky IV! It’s one of the best ‘80s movies ever made!
Next:Rocky IV. I hope you guys
watch the original 1985 version,
not the Director's cut
Yep! We're on it!
So great you ladies are watching these, Rocky 4 is the best, it has everything.
Rocky 4 will be coming soon as well... 😸
Sweet.@@RuntotheMovies
Eye of the Tiger was my high school's theme song Conroe High School man what a place
Burt Young, the actor who plays Paulie, actually WAS a professional boxer in real life.
Pauly even though an ass would die for Rocky.
24:07 - the moment when this movie series becomes truly badass.
Hannah looks RADIANT oh my god
33:01 Despite what a lot of people think, this is where "I pity the fool!!" came from, not The A Team.
I think rocky still giving Paul work is a sign
Of an unspoken rule of carrying your friend or carrying each other
Rocky is such a stand-up guy.
Hogan actually used to be really tall. Years of back surgery has him around 6 foot now, but back in the day dude was huge. Hogan in his prime was around 6'7 and Stallone was around 5'10.
R.I.P. Carl Weathers "Apollo Creed" 🙏🕊❤️
There is no way that Rocky would had won over Clubber even if Mickey was fine.
Exactly! Rockys brawler style wouldn't work on Clubber.
Round 1- Appolo's no-hit style. 2- Rocky proving to himself he can take Clubber's best shot (plus tire Clubber out some). 3- a combo of both.
2- Rocky couldn't take all clubber punches,he had to block,if not Rocky would've be done!
6:35 - "Dude, don't even try. He's gonna block all of them, it's like bro, I do this for a living."
Uh . . . in two movies when did we ever see Rocky block?!
🤣
It's the Origin of I pity the fool
The thing the trainer waved under Rocky's nose that made him flinch were smelling salts.
Both Mr. T and carl weathers played football in the NFL before they decided to act and the Rocky movies were their 1st acting roles
That's cool!
The beach scene with Adrian and the Clubber Lang 2d fight are my favorite Rocky moments. Now that you have the Clubber Lang reference, please react to Ted and Ted 2.
Adrian has come a long way from being the quiet little pet shop worker in the first movie.
Adrian was Rocky’s rock.
Rocky IV hopefully soon 🍿🎬 🎥
The one missed opportunity in the entire Rocky including Creed franchise is not doing a spinoff with Clubber Lang. There is so much they could've fleshed out with Clubber and Mr. T has been around all this time. They could've done the same thing with Clubber as the Karate Kid franchise did with Johnny and Cobra Kai. Just like Johnny, the fact that we know nothing about him other than when he shows up to be a jerk and the fights makes him an open book to flesh out and build around. HUGE missed opportunity.
tori is sooo adorable and cute i love the reaction vids u both do together ur both awesome and lovely ladies i enjoy this channel soo much!
Thanks so much for your continued support!
Yes you are correct this is the first time MR.T said I pity the foo
Eye of the Tiger was actually written for this movie and happened to become a hit
The band Survivor was a well known band with many hits.
I’ve been waiting long time for you guys reaction video of Rocky 3😀
I couldn’t stop crying too when Mick died😭
Finally,It’s the best for yours reaction the movie.😊
Thanks so much for watching!!
Mr. T's Mom really let him have it after she saw that scene with him and Adrian at the premiere of this movie
That little jar they were waving under Rocky's nose during the second fight was smelling salts
30:26 Remember how Adrian was in the 1st movie? All shy & timid?? She sure came out of that shell. She's a different person.
35:14 That staredown,...Clubber Lang (Mr. T) couldn't intimidate Rocky and he knew it. His face showed it.
39:28 yes.
It's the friggin ORIGIN ladies lol "I PITY THE FOOL"
Hannah and Tori do it again loved it!
thank you 😊❤🎬
Hi girls, I'm a new subscriber...about six hours new actually, and I just finished all three of your Rocky reactions.
Thanks for becoming a part of our family. And yes, there will be more Rocky!
This one was the beginning of them being more about boxing and less about the love story.
Good one, Ladies! I'm enjoying watching the Rocky movies with you. Thanks for sharing this one. 🙂
Awesome! We're glad to have you here. The reaction to Rocky 4 is now on our Patreon.
The thing they were putting under Rocky's nose are called Smelling Salts. It's a very pungent ammonium salt that helps wake you up and stimulates your nervous system. Olympic lifters and strongman athletes also use it before big lifts.
You both should smell some before your Rocky IV reaction!
🤣
8:22 - Boo used Tail Whip.
It was Super Effective!
♥️😺🤣
Ya'll Expressions when Clubber Lang was talking to Adrian brought it home 😂
Exceptional Reaction!
Thanks so much for watching with us!
Sylvester Stallone starred in First Blood the same year as this. "Eye of the Tiger" was written for this movie
We just recorded a reaction to First Blood recently. It's now on our Patreon. Quite a movie!
I've so been waiting for this one.
Love the the Rocky movies glad you like them
We can't wait to watch more!
We're planning on continuing with Rocky, for sure!
"I Pity the Fool" has always been Mr.T's catch phrase
Hannah and Tori, always love your reactions. Please keep the Rocky reactions coming!
Thank you so much! We certainly plan to😊
Stallone did give Hogan a box to stand on to look bigger. Hogan was around 6 feet 8 inches tall though.
These girls make fun of every guy over 30 lol.
Thanks so much for watching with us! Greetings to you as well!
It's dope to watch ya'll react. You're talking about Mr. T and Hulk Hogan, NOBODY knew them before this movie. I was 11 and saw this at the theaters, and that's our first introduction into Mr.T and Hulk Hogan!
Thanks for watching with us!
it was hulk hogan in that movie :) originally when he was in wwe before 1984 he was just another wrestler and when he took this role he got let go of wwe but came back in late 1983 and the rest is history :)
RIP Burt Young (Paulie) he died this week.
RIP.
If you ladies want to know who won that fight at the end of the movie between Rocky and Apollo, the Creed movies answers that question.
Paulie is Philly by every definition. (nods) They should put up his statue.
🤣🤣🤣
