12:45. Note when this movie was filmed Hulk Hogan was in his first run with WWF which was run at the time by Vince McMahon Sr. Vince Sr. wanted nothing to do with films or crossover; he was very much and old school promoter. But Hogan did the movie anyway and he was fired by the WWF. Keep in mind, in his first run with the WWF, he was a heel and was not a very big name yet. Shorty after he joined the AWA promotion based out of Minnesota. The same year the movie came out, Vince Jr. bought the WWF from his father. Vince Jr. saw the potential of cross promotions and films as he wanted to make the WWF global not just regional. So lured Hogan back from the AWA in 1983 and made Hogan the face of the company. And the rest is history.

great movie + reaction! (imho) Rocky (1976) is the best one, Rocky 3 is my fave, Rocky 4 is the most fun, and Rocky Balboa (2006) has the best life-speech in the series.
@@lexkanyima2195 I didn’t say it was an issue it was the one who created this post saying there is irony in the fact Stallone is older then Weathers while Weathers character Apollo is older then Rocky in movies but didn’t think that is a problem at all and see it all the time in movies where characters call each other old when the actors themselves close to same age or whatever.
I would have gone out in that first fight against Clubber and taken a knee. Just kneel down immediately for a 10 count, give a Truman Show type bow to the audience, jump out of the ring, and run back to Mickey. If everyone is going to make a big deal about the fight happening (and in real life I'm sure they would have pressured him not to call it off), go out there and give everyone a huge disappointment, but don't let him beat you like Rocky did. That way you lose the belt, but you can just tell everyone the real fight for the belt will happen later. And it will make someone like Clubber mad.
Back when the early Rocky movies took place, the weight classes were different. Cruiserweight didn't exist yet, so Rocky would have been a heavyweight at anything over 190. Apollo was supposed to be around 210 if I'm not mistaken. The first cruiserweight title fight was in 1980, which is why I think they made a point to mention Rocky as 202 lbs early in this movie. Technically though, even now, a cruiserweight can fight in the heavyweight ranks if they wish. Roy Jones moved up in weight to take a heavyweight belt, but he only got up into the 190s for that fight.
In case you’re wondering why Rocky threw his helmet at the statue because he blames the statue for Mickey’s death. Clubber Lang wouldn’t have gotten mad, the fight wouldn’t have happened and Mickey wouldn’t have died.
The reason a cross promotion never happened was because Vince McMahon Sr, not Jr wanted Wrestlers to stay away from movies because that’s what actors are for not wrestlers, and because of this movie, Hogan was fired but after the movie Vince Kennedy McMahon rehired him because it was a big hit. As for Hogan well despite the incident in 2015, he’s still a big name in WWE
44:56 Only time I've ever heard of someone calling that iconic line "cheesy" 😄 The whole movie is cheesy for that matter. Still my favorite Rocky movie by far.
47:54 - You should listen to Eddie Murphy’s standup bit about Mike Tyson. This was when he was still champ, and he had a habit of kissing his opponents on the cheek after a fight. It was really funny, he talked about another boxer as well, did a really great impression of him XD
In the UK here on late shifts so fin at 11pm and 3:35am now few drinks in and was so happy when this popped up. This is my fave of the rocky movies and was looking forward to seeing you guys reactions to it and looking forward to the next ones. Love your reactions x
Hogan was working for Vince McMahon's dad Vince Sr. when he was approached to be in the movie. He was not the world-famous Hulk Hogan yet and was just starting to make a name for himself in wrestling at this time. Vince Sr. told him not to do the movie, and when Hogan did it anyway Vince Sr. fired him. The movie made Hogan a hotter commodity in the pro-wrestling world after the movie came out, and he changed from being a bad guy to good guy. Vince Jr. bought the WWF from his father and rehired Hogan and made him his star attraction. Which in turn helped make the WWF into the biggest wrestling company in the world. When Hogan was inducted into the WWF Hall of Fame Stallone was the one who introduced him before Hogan made his speech.
Do not skip any movies, please. They all have something to offer and tbh, the worst of the Rocky movies isn't really that bad. Every Rocky movie has a bit of a cheese factor, but the good outweighs the bad in every one of the Rocky/Creed series.
For most combative sports mid 30's is considered really old because you got to remember how much they put their body through all year long Ernest borgnine when did championships they get a long time and can go back into getting in shape again fighters had to keep their weight and routine all year long
Yeah, no defense in the Rocky universe, but also no refs either. Lol. I mean, 20 unanswered shots by clubber Lang with zero defense.. and I guess the ref was getting a hot dog when Clubber holds Rocky up in the corner, stares deep in his eyes, and delivers a decapitating cross with a wind-up that started two states away. Lol 😂
23:21 I think he means that he didnt hand picked each specific fight but that when you are the people's favourite champion the people in charge want you to only get to fight other "champions" or well known fighters for publicity and money. Like how Apollo Creed had to give rocky a chance to fight instead of a good fighter like Rocky making it to get a fight with Apollo by himself.
@@lexkanyima2195 I mean that I think since he is a champion he doesn't really get to pick his fights as he's defending his title. So most of his fights defending the title are easier than Clubber Lang because he got used to fighting easy fights
@@lexkanyima2195 Nah just based of the first 2 movies. Remember Rocky had to have the champion himself Apollo say he can fight him. Rocky was a good and strong maybe even a better fighter but still wasn't given a chance himself on his own to fight Apollo.

Burt Young served in the Marines from 1957-1959 and boxed during that time he said his record was 32-2-0 with 26 knockouts and sparred in 1960s
I remember when Paul Vunak was teaching Jeet Kune Do, he talked about how boxers seldom actually block punches in mid flight but instead, slip punches or cover their head/torso toabsorb punches on their gloves or arms. He said "You never saw Sugar Ray or Ali doing this or this" and performed a bunch of classic karate style blocks.
great movie + reaction!
(imho) Rocky (1976) is the best one, Rocky 3 is my fave, Rocky 4 is the most fun, and Rocky Balboa (2006) has the best life-speech in the series.
This movie,launched a lot of careers,hulk hogan,mr.t,the band survivor,that sings"eye of the tiger".
You guys have to complete the series, 4, 5, and Rocky Balboa
And on to the *Creed* movies.
@@jowbloe3673 Yes 😁
The irony of Stallone calling Weathers an old man at the end, when he's actually older than Carl Weathers
By only 2 years but your right Stallone was born 1946 and Weathers in 1948.
@@scottknode898 but age is not a issue
I believe he weighed 220 lbs.
In case you’re wondering why Rocky threw his helmet at the statue because he blames the statue for Mickey’s death. Clubber Lang wouldn’t have gotten mad, the fight wouldn’t have happened and Mickey wouldn’t have died.
Mr T did Rocky III in 1982 A-Team didn’t come out until 1983
The reason a cross promotion never happened was because Vince McMahon Sr, not Jr wanted Wrestlers to stay away from movies because that’s what actors are for not wrestlers, and because of this movie, Hogan was fired but after the movie Vince Kennedy McMahon rehired him because it was a big hit. As for Hogan well despite the incident in 2015, he’s still a big name in WWE
49:30 and 51:33 Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee
In *UFC 1,* there was a boxer (Art Jimmerson) that wore one boxing glove during the competition.
“They don’t block in the real world!” Facts
44:56 Only time I've ever heard of someone calling that iconic line "cheesy" 😄
The whole movie is cheesy for that matter. Still my favorite Rocky movie by far.
47:54 - You should listen to Eddie Murphy’s standup bit about Mike Tyson. This was when he was still champ, and he had a habit of kissing his opponents on the cheek after a fight. It was really funny, he talked about another boxer as well, did a really great impression of him XD
hahaha apollo became a hockey dad trying to live his past glory through rocky
In the UK here on late shifts so fin at 11pm and 3:35am now few drinks in and was so happy when this popped up. This is my fave of the rocky movies and was looking forward to seeing you guys reactions to it and looking forward to the next ones. Love your reactions x
Creed 3 y'all need to watch
@Lauris Bergmanis Why
@Lauris Bergmanis is 2023 and you still watching the old movie
@Lauris Bergmanis ok I'll believe you
Both Hulk Hogan and Mr. T became huge with this movie.
Guy responsible for training Sylvester stallone was a friend of arnold Schwarzenegger,s franco columbo.
Also Mr.T came up Hey Woman not in script
If this is sad, then wait until you get to Rocky 4.
Well that’s a bit of a spoiler
@@leif712009 getting them prepared.
Nah mickeys death is way more sad than that
@@corleone908 i agree totally
I'll continue to type this message in all the Rocky reactions. If you're watching Rocky 1-4, you might as well watch Rocky V and Rocky Balboa (6)
Waiting for 4. 🥊🥊
Do not skip any movies, please. They all have something to offer and tbh, the worst of the Rocky movies isn't really that bad. Every Rocky movie has a bit of a cheese factor, but the good outweighs the bad in every one of the Rocky/Creed series.
Did y’all see their reaction to Rocky 4?
crazy thing is there really is a Rocky statue in Philly
Don't skip ROCKY 5, it might be cringey, but the story is actually good..
For most combative sports mid 30's is considered really old because you got to remember how much they put their body through all year long Ernest borgnine when did championships they get a long time and can go back into getting in shape again fighters had to keep their weight and routine all year long
#3 is my favorite one. Mostly cuz of the 80s influence, and inclusion of hogan and mrT. "The eye of the tiger" was my jam as a high school wrestler.
It fits
Yeah, no defense in the Rocky universe, but also no refs either. Lol. I mean, 20 unanswered shots by clubber Lang with zero defense.. and I guess the ref was getting a hot dog when Clubber holds Rocky up in the corner, stares deep in his eyes, and delivers a decapitating cross with a wind-up that started two states away. Lol 😂
You need to see all the Rocky movies.
JUSTIN. How dare you not go back in time and change things
Best Rocky movie in order for me:
1. Rocky VI
2. Rocky III
3. Rocky II
4. Rocky
5. Rocky Balboa
6. Rocky V
Stallone is a master writer, director and actor.
Great Reaction Guys! And by the way Carl Weathers (Apollo Creed) is 6’2 😊
This is my first video of you 2. It made me add you. 🙂
Rocky was Mr t first acting role ...then WrestleMania and shortly after that the A team
You think Rocky was a paper champion ?
@@lexkanyima2195 I mean that I think since he is a champion he doesn't really get to pick his fights as he's defending his title. So most of his fights defending the title are easier than Clubber Lang because he got used to fighting easy fights
@@fatty1040 are they a comparison of Rocky as champion and Tommy as champion ?
@@lexkanyima2195 Nah just based of the first 2 movies. Remember Rocky had to have the champion himself Apollo say he can fight him. Rocky was a good and strong maybe even a better fighter but still wasn't given a chance himself on his own to fight Apollo.
@@fatty1040 ok, i was convinced that the press conference didn't harm Rocky.
Rocky is real life weighed 160 pounds, and Hogan was over 300 but NOT 390
u gotta watch 4 5 and 6 its a great progression of the character
Love you guys!!! 🎉🎉🎉
Keep going watch them all...🥊
Cool fact Muhammad Ali actually box/wrestle Antonio n New Japan right b-4 this Rocky III filmed..the fight with rocky & thunder lips was a parody of that..also..the rocky statue was actually in Philly until some years ago when they voted to take it down because it was fictional hero
Always remember that Mickey loves ya.
They were heavyweights all the movies. Apollo is like 6'2" Rocky 5' 10".
Great reaction but when Is Rocky 4 ?!
Yo I found ya a few months ago and love ya. Goals for my next relationship!! Much love ❤️ u guys
Continue with the *Rocky* saga to find out who won the fight at the end.
You def need to watch them all. 5 and 6 play very well together and take you to Creed 1 and 2
