Вставка
- Опубліковано 16 січ 2022
- In this video we show you how to permanently disable your seatbelt chime. This annoying speaker will ding at you every single time you start, move. open your door, or shutoff your car.
This is intended to help people from hearing the chime when entering and exiting the car or at slow speeds. While driving Please Always Wear Your Seatbelt!

Holy... Thank you! Now i can do my other work on it without the annoying beep the whole time!
Amazing!! This is one of the most irritating chimes I have ever heard in my life. Thank you!
You’re welcome! 😇
I did this but I've also lost by cross traffic alert. Turn signal blinkers . Etc etc . So you lose those sounds also. Might have to revert back
Thanks for the heads up.
Oh......damn didnt think about that.....was goin to do this
Thanks for pointing this out, saved me. He really should have mentioned that in the video.
I'm okay with all the dings except the door one. I almost always open my door before i shut off the engine, it's just a habit of mine.. maybe I'll just jumper the driver's door switch
if you put your seatbelt into the buckle about 20 times really fast within around 30 seconds, it disables it
That works as well but Sometimes it will turn back on. Also not sure if it eliminates the ding when starting the car and shutting it off. This method didn't take more than 10 minutes and ensured a permanent solution.
Didnt work for me
Came to say this.
This works great until you put something like a dog in the backseat and discover that they put chime in for the back seat that isn't disabled by the 20 click method
That only works for the seat belt, not for the chime when you kill the engine with the door open.
“This chime is annoying!”
Me: “Laughs & cries in 2019 Corolla chime.”
...but does it still mute the stereo? : )
You can't disable this via techstream? On the old BRZ and 86 you could use the Toyota Techstream software to disable the seatbelt chime in software, but I'm assuming this isn't possible anymore
Thanks for this, out of all the cars I have owned this is the most annoying thing to deal with.
I turned off the seatbelt chime by doing the 20 clicks trick but this is too much prying for the doors. Besides now the car won’t tell you if you left the door open when you locked.
Doesn’t really make much sense when you can put the car in accessory mode and quickly buckle and unbuckle seat belt 20 times in 30 seconds. I can confirm that this works👍🏼
does it keep the setting for good or is that something i'd need to do all the time?
@@robertsavello4120 So far it has stayed off. I heard when you disconnect the battery you will have to redo the process.
@@kevinkhaffaji2137 Thanks! that's reasonable and i would expect that type of behavior.
Yep, that’s how I turned it off when I had my STi and installed seat harnesses. All Subarus have this feature. It will stay off until you disconnect/reconnect the battery. This method is better because you don’t have to take the dash apart and turning it back on takes about 30seconds by just reconnecting the battery. Also, the speaker may be needed for other features or notifications & this only disables the seat belt chime while keeping it available for others.
Thank you thank you thank you......now just need the time to do it....
Welcome welcome welcome! Do it!
I was gonna entertain this, but doesn't the RPM limit warning beep use this speaker too? lol
This is the most aggressive seat belt warning system I've ever dealt with.
I'm curious if it'll dim lower the volume of the radio still.
Is it done the same way on the older version?
OMG THANK YOU!! Doing this as soon as I get home!!!
Thank you. That sound drives me crazy.
And risk scuffing/scratching the dash/cluster! Is this speaker used for the other safety sensors? I would do the insert seatbelt rapidly option.
It's probably used for all the other kinds of warning lights, such as low fuel, low tire pressure, "engine about to blow up", etc.
Am I the only one who enjoys the chime lol?...
I do as well, I find the modern Subaru chimes to be very pleasant.
Seek therapy, please
so does the 20x buckle/unbuckle in 30sec seatbelt trick not work anymore?
Can i just press the seatbelt holder 20 times when i start the car and its gone?
Ehhh i've never minded it
Yo, any idea where I can get a cut out style exhaust for it??
Good stuff!
Thanks for the visit!
Disconnected mine today, took all of 10 mins to do. Much better!
Can someone make a video on removing the radio?
Will doing this procedure result in a check engine light indicator?
No check engine light!
I think this is in all modern cars now. Personally I rather leave it on because it reminds all my passengers who keep forgetting to put on their seat belts when we're on the road. i don't want to be responsible for them.
Very good reasoning. I will say with this disabled in my personal car as well I do sometimes have to nag passengers to put their belt on. It is much easier when the car doesn't stop dinging so they give up and put it on.
Hell no....havnt worn one in 50 years.....I think I had them in the Chevelle
I have seen on other vehicles that you can use the wiring under the seat. There is a harness for the buckle sensor, you just splice the 2 wires together and it thinks the buckle is always inserted. I would imagine that would work on most cars.
Not a bad idea. That would eliminate the light as well if it works. You would just have to be careful because some seatbelt clips have wiring for the air bag.
yall should do "how to remove CEL when changing headers" :(
Currently there's no solution to that problem. The factory headers on these cars have cats on them and until we get catted header options or someone cracks the code to start tuning these the orange light will glow bright all through the night.
@@ImportImageRacing the car wont stop automatically? it don't have a safety feature with that cel is on? I'm just afraid ill get stranded lol
@@xcz604 the CEL for cat deficiency won't cause any damage as it's just an emissions code. MXP makes something called the CEL Eliminator. Which is essentially a spacer for your 02 sensor to trick the car and getting rid of the cel. That could be something to look into! Hope that helps!
@@ImportImageRacing so technically when i put the defouler on it will automatically remove the CEL?
@@xcz604 In theory yes. It works on most cars.
How the hell did you figure out how to do this?
Experience on other vehicles. Had a feeling there would be a speaker on the back similar to the VA WRX.
It's just telling you the door is open. The chime isn't there when your car is off and have your door closed.
i wanted to chop my ears off trying to do something with the door open, thank you
Well we are glad you didn't!
Cons. You also lose turn signal noises. Cross traffic alert and back up alert noises . And you can't turn up radio volume as it gets turned down as well. So this is not the solution
You can get an extra seat belt connector and put it on a cheap retention lanyard. Keep mine behind the passenger seat when not in use.
Does this method throw any codes?
No codes!
Way better then the seat belt dance I love this permanent solution thanks for the information 🙏🏿👍🏿👍🏿
Awesome! Don’t forget to disconnect the battery just in case.
Wouldn’t the alternative be to take ur seat belt on and off within 30 seconds
20 times yes. Atleast that's how subarus have been. Might have changed but that sometimes doesn't last. I have done that before and come back out a few days later aud it dings at me again.
Get electrical tape instead and just pin it to the underside of the speaker.
Maybe is worth taking the car apart 🧐. Time will tell.
Its not that’s difficult
In ass mode buckle n unbuckle 20 times within 30sec and put seatbelt on start the engine n turn off thats it
Correct but that doesn't eliminate the start and shutoff chiming and isn't always permanent. We always wear our seatbelts so that wasn't the main concern.
Or you could buy an extra seat belt clip on Ebay for $10. That's what I do.
We wear our seatbelt so that wasn't the concern. It's the chime every time you start the car and shut it off haha
@@ImportImageRacing - does the chime happen even if your belt is on and the door is closed?
@@mikea5205 Yeah it chimes a few times every time you start or shutoff the car regardless of the doors and seatbelt.
@@ImportImageRacing - wow. I can imagine how annoying that would get. Thanks for the vid.
haha there's a MUUUUUUUUCH easier way to do this
I would much rather take 5 minutes to do this than sit there and click and unclick the seatbelt 20 times and then still have the on and off chime anyways. Lol but either way it's just preference
The level of cry babies these days is getting out of control
Are you saying people are cry babys for not liking a loud annoying sound playing every time they touch their car?
@@tannerl2971 I don’t find the newer Subaru chimes to be annoying and loud, you should listen to the newer Toyotas, those chimes are very annoying. Lol
Yes, and yes...all this crying of a simple "chime" isn't contributing to making the world a better place. If I could, I would come up with an idea where the car chimes when someone is too busy texting while driving, can't use a simple blinker, and driving next to someone's blind spot. The texting part nearly killed me and my wife when someone wasn't paying attention and slammed into us. It's a good thing I had a dash cam for proof. If you idiots don't like my opinion, then I better not hear you guys play victim when it happens to you or you kill someone because of your ignorance.
@@cv63vet98 what the hell are you talking about my guy? This dude is showing people how to remove a chime that plays every time you get in the car that most people would find annoying so that they can remove it if they chose to. What the hell does that have to do with someone texting and driving. I agree texting and driving is a problem and poses a serious issue but why come here and take that out on something that has nothing to do with texting and driving? Sure a dude showing people how to remove a seatbelt ding isn't going to make the world a better place for the majority but nothing is these days. The world is going to shit either way and all of us are going down with it. Lighten up
@@cv63vet98 - you got deep issues dude. I would recommend going to see a therapist.
