I cant imagine the taste of the whitebait that you put over the pasta. Do you sometimes use grated parmesan cheese instead on top of the pasta ? Here in Switzerland, cheese is very popular (there is a lot of cheese which is made in Switzerland), and in my experience, its not so popular in Japan, is that right ?

      Thank you for your comment.
In Japan, pasta with minced meat in tomato sauce is called meat sauce pasta, which is topped with grated parmesan cheese. At home, we use Parmesan cheese that is sold grated, rather than grated chunks.
You are right, cheese is not that popular in Japan. Cheese is rarely used in Japanese food, so it is only used when eating pizza or pasta. I think cheese is more expensive in Japan than in Switzerland, so it may not be that popular.
Recently, I think that opportunities to eat cheese are gradually increasing, such as adding cheese as a topping at beef bowl restaurants and the establishment of cheese specialty restaurants.
