    Mahalo for the informative video on Mililani. I grew up in Mililani, now living in the Pacific Northwest for over 10 years. I spent 1990-1998 by Makaunulau Park, and 1998-2008 in Mililani Mauka. Felt super relaxed, very green, very suburb-y. Since I went to school in town, I felt a stark contrast between the rest of Oahu and Mililani- it honestly felt like mix between suburban mainland US mixed with the green parts of Oahu. I'm a Seattle-ite now, and love it, but I will always be from Mililani and from my alma mater in town.

    I move there in 1969 as a 10 year old and was part of the 1st graduating class (1977) of Mililani High School. I have been all over the United States and there is no better place than Mililani Town.

    I was raised in waipio in 50s 60s. All pineapple. I remember the first time I saw it coming home from the war in Vietnam. It was a sight to behold. Bless this development.

    Australian 🇦🇺 here. I was fortunate enough to spend a year on that beautiful island Oahu, we had plenty of trips from Laie to Milalani. What a lovely neighbourhood with friendly residents.

    From wahiwa to waipahu pearl city, was
    Our playground. Just miles of pineapple and sugarcane. What a time
    It was. I graduated 1965, leilehua.

    1986 All American City. It’s at the entrance into the Town. Longtime residence still considers Mililani a “Town”. 👍🏼

    When I was there in the early 1980s and end of the 1970s, Mililani's neighborhoods had the look of a southern California suburban development. Trees were shorter and less abundant. The movie "E.T." was reminiscent of it. I don't think there was a movie theater but it had a skating rink somewhere. I remember Mililani Shopping Center having a Pay-and-Save department store, a health food store, and a pizza place.

      Milani Skate Palace, closer to present-day FHB/ASB. The exact location is home to loan office & dental office, among others. Skate Palace closed early/mid-1990s or so. Consolidated Mililani Theaters came along around the same time. Same complex as WalMart....

    Really great video! I wish all the towns on Oahu had videos like this. We're trying to figure out where to buy/rent. Your video is insightful!

    I remember when Kaneohe was considered the "sticks".
    When I moved to California in 1972, my father told me California would drift from the continent after the next great earthquake.
    I think Oahu is very over crowded. When overcrowding becomes a problem, things don't usually turn out too well.

    where are the rentals in Mililani? I can't seem to find any that allow dogs :(

    • @nomadr
      @nomadr  3 роки тому +1

      Alana shucks, for the most part there isn’t a commercial rental building. Most are individually rented out so it is something to negotiate directly with the owners. Perhaps, offer more rent for the pup and they would consider?

    Brittany....Mililani=Mee-lee-lah-nee. LOTS of people, including locals...mispronounce it as...Mee-lah-lah-nee. Several Hawaiian language teachers(kumu olelo), including several relatives....CRINGE at that pronunciation!-lol...BTW...Mililani means "To praise"
