    Hello Brent ! A big thank you for this new lesson ! It was so interesting and moving....
    And yes I would love to have this BOOK and discover Alex's adventures.
    I love this kind of video, because we learn a lot with interesting topics. We have an American cemetery here since world war 2. (Not far from my house) Seeing all those white crosses and knowing they were so young, so far from their country, their family and friends... and just for us for our Liberty makes me always cry. They become our children too for ever because they came here for us. I think it's my duty to pray for them and never forget. It's for reasons like this and many others that French people and American people are friends for ever. 🇺🇸 Thank you once more !

    Your video reminds me of the following lyrics: “The land of the free and the home of the brave … “ Freedom is not free; someone has paid something priceless for it. America is a unique country that is worth being loved since it is the only country that is built on values instead of ethnicity. These values are Liberty, E Pluribus Unum, and In God We Trust. How precious they are. I won’t let leftists and communists destroy this beautiful land. Thank you, Brent, for letting us, English learners, have an opportunity to visit this special place for this special country on this planet.

    • @AmericanEnglishBrent
      @AmericanEnglishBrent  3 роки тому +2

      Jack, thanks so much for those lyrics. I do think that any country has the potential to be built on values. Every country has its fair share of amazing people. The US doesn't always get it right. We've made mistakes in the past, but I do love my country.

    • @jackthomas9905
      @jackthomas9905 3 роки тому

      @@AmericanEnglishBrent Actually, I come from a country which has been tortured by far leftists and communists for decades. I love America not because every American is great (of course not), but because of the American values - freedom of speech, religion, press, etc. When you say, "We've made mistakes in the past.", I guess you are saying "PART of we have made mistakes like enslaving people." Actually, half Americans didn't enslave people in the past, and when slavery was happening in America, it also was happening in other parts of the world, so we can't blame America alone for slavery just like leftists do. And you know what, what makes America so great is she is one of the first countries that abolished slavery. Leftists and communists tend to judge anything with an ideal, utopian set of moral standards, especially when they are judging America. They also tend to judge anyone or anything in the past with contemporary moral standards, which is not fair at all. God says, "Noah was a righteous man in his generation." (Genesis 6:9) Why didn't God just say, he is a righteous man? Because God has the greatest wisdom, knowing that Noah can only be judged by the moral standards of his own time, and if Noah was judged by that of later times, he would not be righteous any more.

Within two days they realized the masacre in Warsaw in the district "Wola". 50 thousand people were shot, chlidren, men, pregnant women. I am so sorry to see you so sad Brent and I understand your feelings. Here where I live there a lot of monuments and streets dedicated to the partisans who fought and died against Nazis and Fascists. In particular in Liguria there was a huge partisan movement which liberated Genoa before the allies but at the same time the partisans and the local people paid a high price (the Germans and the Italian fascists caused a lot of slaughters).
    If you are interested I suggest you to read something about the "massacre of the Benedicta" (near Genoa), "massacre of Monte Sole" (Emilia Romagna near Bologna) or the "massacre of Santa Maria di Stazzema" (Tuscany).

    Now imagine 26 million people, most of them are unknown because they were wiped out, burned by families, by villages. They weren't military. That's how many Soviet people died during that war. There is a movie "Come and see" - Иди и смотри. It is a movie about a boy, who witnessed what the crazed german nazi military people had done on their land and with their people. It is hard to watch and understand and better to read the plot before watching the movie. But the atmosphere of the movie makes you feel like being a part of those events.
