We take everything for granted. For many on this earth a new pencil, a pair of shoes, or a blank sketchbook makes them happy and gives them joy. This is a story of happiness and dreams despite the sun not shining in some people’s lives.
I am an American fan of film and I have seen thousands of movies in my lifetime. Rarely do I encounter a film of any ilk where so much is conveyed with so few words. This young very talented actor conveyed more with the expressions of his face in 15 minutes than most actors do with a ten thousand word script. This is also one of the most moving films I have encountered in the last decade. Bravo! and Well done!
The City of Joy is that melting pot where dreams are served everyday freshly cooked. This is a tale of a little boy whose world revolves around the by-lanes of old Calcutta where he delivers the latest headlines and then spends the rest of his day simmering dreams at a tiny tea stall.
this movie is really touchy for me because it is little bit releated with my dream. My dream is that when ever i will start earning i will hold the hands of those little age fellows who r deprived of education due to lack of money and selling papers, selling tea on railway platform, working in general store etc. instead of going to school. I also request to the people who are reading my comment, if u r economically good then please educate some poor guys at ur own expense because ur little help can change the destiny of someone's life.
This short film has left me pondering again over the great divide. So often, I've witnessed those with the least have the most in the hearts. The most impoverished are frequently the most generous and thoughtful.
@@katydid1600 -- not really. Its signifies his acceptance of another direction in his life. A new direction. A blank book is a wonderful opportunity for many in this world. But having said that, distributing newspaper is a great start to entrepreneurship. He could have grown to be a successful businessman and trader. Many kids in North America ( USA and Canada) started their life with newspaper delivery....at about age 8 to 15. Its their first paycheck.
Finally someplace in UA-cam where there's no hatred but just love, hope and appreciation. This made my day and has given me hope. We continue to do what we do even though there's a little hope, someday that little hope is going to put a smile on your face.
This is my first comment ever on any UA-cam video. I am deeply moved. Your young actor is an outstanding talent. Mesmerized by his innocent eyes that are so deep. Your story telling presentation and music has made a lasting effect. Thank you.
Thank you Poulomi! happy to know you liked the film. May we recommend another lovely short film for you? Do watch 'The joy of giving' here goo.gl/xqUnmi Look forward to your comments :)
Yes I deeply agree to what you said, I want him to flourish in the field he desires. If it's acting then I must say he does better with respect to many so called stars. ♥️ To everyone of you who worked onscreen off-screen and presented this to us.
This kid- he has the most bright and innocent eyes I ever saw! His acting is so stunning I got worried if he was a real paper boy-- please tell me he's allright and please look after him well
Hi Kirrie, Thank you for watching. Please be assured, he is not a real newspaper boy. He is doing well with studies and goes to school regularly. Thank you for your concern. Please share the movie with friends and family so that the child gets better recognition :)
+Aniket Mitra Bhaiyya wow... it was so brilliantly shot, it was a delight to watch. Such deep emotions! So many children are forced into child labour, because of their condition. This will surely stay in my memory for long :)
When we are Little Ones we need to hold our hopes and dreams in a death grip. Often they are all that sustain us in the darkness and depravation that surrounds us. What a lovely film. Thank you so very much!
Reminds me of the story “lost spring “ by Anees Jung. Absolutely heart rendering and gives the others a chance to thank god for the little blessings that we’ve got. Fantastic realistic presentation
A fine example of humanity, showing love compassion and kindness to one who is less fortunate. We could all do a better job of emulating their love in action...
living here in America... we think we are in "hard times" because we have to "shelter in place" in our homes... then I see this beautiful little piece that depicts just how hard life can really be for someone who would be in heaven just to have a home to "shelter" in... brings tears to my eyes to see how little some people have and yet they still have their dreams of something better...such a beautiful and touching story... I was fearful that when he looked down, his shoes would be gone... thank you for this wonderful film... looking forward to more ...
Another touching one !!! That boy is awesome !! "The life we are hating to have.. are frustrated just because we compare it with others' is actually a dream life of some one"...
Silence speaks louder than words Small boy was not acting He was living in the movie as a paper boy His eyes reflect his innocence God bless him and all who have worked on this film
really the part where the child was in tears.. broke me... it was tremendous... really for someone, a small favor could be a big miracle...great work.. we could showcase this short stories in schools, for the students to understand the importance of every single thing... great work...
Thank you Vedika. Your words are like awards to us. We have showcased in a few schools from our end. Would request you to help us with the initiative and spread the word. Please share with friends and family.
What a stirring film! It's human appeal has skyrocketed it to a whole new atmospheric layer. Cried from the point at which the boy wakes up at the start and just cried throughout. Children shouldn't have to live like this. It's a cruel world. The idea of helping anonymously is intriguing, has always been. For some I feel it's humility, for lesser ones like me, it's a shallow space between knowing and feeling what must be done and the inability to commit to doing more than just the least bit and therefore escaping from giving rise to expectations... if that makes any sense. Wonderful wonderful work, makers! 👏👏
Speechless !!! Acting... story... music... cinematography.... Excellence !!! Superb work team !!! Just before the ending, when the boy wakes up and rubs his eyes...with that innocence.... I haven't seen such acting !!! Professionals at their best !!! Moved man.... I'm moved !!! Love you guys !!! Thumbs Up to the team !!

I've watched lots of short films, but this one stands out. From the b&w effect to the transition of scenes. Message was also clear , in every child inside us, never lose hope, whatever life may bring. God has different way to send a message like by dreaming. My favorite scene was on the sketch pad.
I am amazed after watching this film.. somewhere it again proves that help has no sound... beautifully done... Good to see pocket films coming up with good short films

Exceptionally beautiful. The boy is extremely talented. Story, direction, music everything is beautifully made. This actually brought tears. Keep up the good work, team.
Thanks for making such beautiful clean movie without vulgarity and nudity otherwise people have made the OTT format an open forum to present nudity and vulgarity...thanks again...love from Pakistan...
Brilliant! Using black and white film, the gleam of such an innocent young boys eyes, while surrounded by such crippling poverty?...pure genius. Most of us know of the countless homeless children in India (which just breaks everything in me every time I think about it), with most films focusing on that very point, it’s just incredible how the film puts the harsh realties these poor innocent angels face every day, aside, and allows us to see how life’s simplest pleasures, which we take for granted , can make this little boys life so much happier. No tears of sorrow, just simple, honest, yet real life, for millions of children just like him, who don’t see things as we in the west do. For most of them, numb to what we see as cruel fate, it’s just another day, made so happy by things most would never think to be a blessing. It’s difficult to put into words, how they took, what is normally portrayed, as absolutely horrific, and made it seem as though it’s just a normal day, with no cause for sorrow. At the same time, making those of us in North America and Europe, who live very different lives, truly appreciate all the things we simply take for granted, and wouldn’t give a second thought to...and all of it, without having to say one single world, save of course, “paper”. I’m not talented, in any way meaningful way (although I wish I was), but I do love to study and observe the humanities, from all corners of the globe. This video should be mandatory viewing for school children, to asses/ascertain, if the individual has the mind to appreciate the arts, and if so, to use it as an indicator, to start helping the children to develop their literary/artistic skills. Why do I say that? It’s quite simple really. To the untrained eye, of one with no artistic merit, they’d simply view this and describe it as boring. However, to a child born with the ability to understand this, and appreciate the many things it has to offer/say, on so many different levels, to the audience, it’s a chance to see the artistic abilities of the child, allowing one to encourage him/her, helping them to realize their full potential at an early age. I’ve often found that artistic talent is often either overlooked, or ignored entirely, but I also found that if encouraged from a young age, there’s no limit as to what a child can accomplish in their life. I desperately wanted to become a writer, a playwright, an author, an actor, and a musician, but sadly, as a child of my generation (the 50’s and 60’s), the arts were seldom encouraged, but instead discouraged, ESPECIALLY for boys (the arts were considered a to be completely inappropriate for boys, who were instead encouraged to become athletes or academics). Can you believe I got all that from watching this short film? It’s why I’ve always loved the arts. You can say countless things, all without saying a single word. And kudos to that child, such an incredible little actor. Just the way he looks at his surroundings, with those big, beautiful eyes? That is a very rare gift, I have a feeling we’ll be seeing much more of him in the future, THANK YOU for sharing this masterpiece of simplistic beauty, hope, and fortitude, things we seldom see from the arts here in Canada, or the Hollywood machine....with love, appreciation, and respects from Toronto ❤️
I've seen paper boy and paper boy 2 and then i saw this in my recommendation and i thought may be it kind off be same. but when i clicked and when the music comes it touched me. and this short film made me cry. i was touched by it and the lil boy , he's so innocent . i came to know how lil things can make another person happy. how ungrateful we are for the things we have. how lightly we take all the things we have. kisi k sapne b sche nhi hote or kisi ko haqiqat b jhoothi lgti h.
No dialogues, no celebrities! No colour! Still the movie has lot to speak. Neither its a sad story nor a happy ending. Its a simple story of simple dreams. We all dream simple things and we all express these kind of emotions.
Some of us got stuck in the childhood environment and we didn’t know how to get out of the hole until we grew up. When we were young, any small things can make us happy and excited. I now have almost everything one can ask. Somehow the happiness seems to have disappeared! The film remined me when I was his age.
It's really a heart touching movie that I have ever seen. It reflects the real situation of our country's those children who are living their life in the ocean of darkness...
this film i don't know how deep gone inside my brain layers.... every thing superb... i.e., misic, direction, acting everything.. . thanks for such a nice film... I'm from Andhrapradesh.. .
Such a cute , innocent and heart touching story. There are so many kids who deserve this type of happiness. Thank you so much sir for giving us this. I have no words to describe this.
Kids are magic, still so fresh from the creator, they accept that anything is possible and smile with pleasure when it does. They are fleeting gifts for those who see them for what they are, gifts to us if we will but see them. Feed their young souls with kindness and they will reawaken the kid you once were.
Beautifully said. That’s the feeling I got too. Wondering still if this poor sweet boy’s life of anonymous treasures was only in his dream, even though shoes still appear on his feet when we see him wake up at the end. No one has mentioned this idea.
Yaar tum logon ne dil jeet liya. 15 minute me bina kuch kahe bahut kuch keh diya. You guys are doing a great work. Keep it up. It's the channels like yours who are actually putting efforts in making something meaningful, unlike bollywood which is still about love, remakes, copy-pastes and what not. This made my day. Keep up the great work.
A beautiful heart wrenching film, bless all the children in the world suffering in any way. There is always hope. Thank you to everybody involved in this production.
What a *Poignant * portrayal by the small boy! A short yet a moving film, evoking a sense of sadness and regret that society has no time to be empathetic! Life is indeed very harsh!!
before watching this movie I'm in very dipression n after watching this my smile is come on face.... really nice..... we have to think about this assessment????????
I had tears on my eyes when he was happy. Thank you for creating this video. So many things were told without saying a word.. huge respect to the creators🙌🙏

Now i was watching this video in costly cell phone sitting in couch with in side a air conditioning room & i openly saying i still have lots of complints towards life..but after watching this somewhere i relaize this..i should try upto the possible way to help these boys who had lots of dreams in their eyes. But hardly it gets true for them..cudos to all the crew members of the movie..it's such great movie..

I will not say anything about the film this will make the art small. THANK YOU From the deepest point of my heart.
Thank you so much Gaurav, you made my day. Please share with friends and family.

Exceptionally beautiful. The boy is extremely talented. Story, direction, music everything is beautifully made. This actually brought tears. Keep up the good work, team.
Thank you Nirnita for appreciating, glad you liked it. Please share :)
Thanks for making such beautiful clean movie without vulgarity and nudity otherwise people have made the OTT format an open forum to present nudity and vulgarity...thanks again...love from Pakistan...
I am a 10 year old girl. I loved the movie. I liked the part when a person cared about an orphan
What an awsome short film. I would rather watch a short film like this 15 min than a 2hr movie in the theaters. That little boy is just amazing.
When a short film can trigger a motion to help our most vulnerable. ❤️✌🏽
Thank you again :)
I was in tears......It’s such a soul touching story and extraordinary performance! People need to do something for them.....
Matlab jo log is tarah ki movie ko bhi dislike kar dete hain, wahi hote hn jinko nepotism, race 3 jaisi movies se khoob lagaw hota hai.
Amazing 🙏🏻
I've seen paper boy and paper boy 2 and then i saw this in my recommendation and i thought may be it kind off be same. but when i clicked and when the music comes it touched me. and this short film made me cry. i was touched by it and the lil boy , he's so innocent . i came to know how lil things can make another person happy. how ungrateful we are for the things we have. how lightly we take all the things we have. kisi k sapne b sche nhi hote or kisi ko haqiqat b jhoothi lgti h.
I interested in many films mainly Hollywood but my English teacher advised me to watching this film .It is so nice and first my contentment.
Same bro
Me to 😂😂
Ya bro
Me too

No dialogues, no celebrities! No colour! Still the movie has lot to speak. Neither its a sad story nor a happy ending. Its a simple story of simple dreams. We all dream simple things and we all express these kind of emotions.
You nailed it with your words, this means a lot :) Please share with friends and family.
Wow,what a beautiful picture, feel like giving a hug to the boy,the work of director is excellent
Some of us got stuck in the childhood environment and we didn’t know how to get out of the hole until we grew up. When we were young, any small things can make us happy and excited. I now have almost everything one can ask. Somehow the happiness seems to have disappeared! The film remined me when I was his age.
Heartouching film. This film is inspiration for everybody and specially for who have no money or poor .
It's really a heart touching movie that I have ever seen. It reflects the real situation of our country's those children who are living their life in the ocean of darkness...
This is very amazing in reality..I never saw anomalies by watching any movie, but seeing it, tears have come in the eye .. thanks to make it

He was not the only man in tears at that moment.I was too.
Your words made our day :) Thank you, glad you liked it. Please share with friends and family.

What I saw is a real life, this is not a film, only extra ordinary director can do a masterpiece like this.

True, let's try to help and uplift next generation. Little giving can help in nurturing them and changing outlook towards society.
