so glad in australia we work in metric it seams to be a lot simpler. recall my dear dad working his cuts out in feet and inches than trying to convert into metric when the metric system came in some 50 odd years ago (mckays floorcoverings)

That's funny. It's difficult enough to learn how to measure carpet. I can't imagine how tough it is to convert To Metric.

This makes sence now! On the main bedroom i like how u ad to the end of the carpet instead of having a whole seperate peice and doing it in 3 sections. I used to waste so much carpet! This will save me big on renos thank you

His way is wrong btw its more work to do all those seams just do one seam in the master room. 12x18 piece seamed with a 3.5x18 piece you get a 8.5'x18' piece leftover that will go in the living room

In the MB aren't you changing the direction for the 3 smaller pieces your adding? I would think you want two 18'x12' pieces, the 2nd 18'x12' piece you would just cut a 18'x3.5' piece to use in the MB and hopefully use the rest for closets and stuff, not really concerned with that, just confused by the direction change, I thought that was wrong and will show the seams and all that?

There has been an incredible lack of criticism for this video from you real professionals, LOL. There are many ways to figure out a project. The purpose was to just give someone the basics of how to measure and explain it in a way that made sense, if that makes sense.
That 12' width is difficult for new salespeople to understand.

I thought the same thing. Once he hit the MB he totally lost me.

@@josephkocsis4524 I'm really hoping the new people will review this with experienced people and help them make sense of it.

I mean you warned about the nap change , and how it would look different in certain lighting /angles so why would you go wrong direction with a nap change in Mb . All while saying to do the right way / not save money and get extra carpet

You only need one seam in the MB then use the leftover 8.5x18 piece in the living room and that closet is small you might even be able to make the 2nd piece in the mb long enough to run into the closet if it works... If you use a pattern carpet this wont work at all i know you said that but why go through all those extra seams to save a tiny piece of carpet? Makes zero sense i think you dont have actual install experience

    • @ProfitNowwithJerryLevinson

I actually have no installation experience at all. I just have experience owning, running, and operating a store. But if you ask 10 people to give you an estimate you will come up with 10 answers. Now if you compare this to other videos that show how to measure for carpet you will find there aren't any. It takes time to learn how to measure. I'm just getting people started. People learn in different ways to. For some this won't make sense at all.

It’s my first time installing carpet. The room size is 13ftx13ft, would I get the square footage to determine how much carpet you need?

    • @jerrylevinson2028

You would need an 18 x 12 to do it right. 1 cut 13.5 and according to our industry standards you can have 3 pieces for your next piece. So 13.5 divided by 3 is 4.5' Add that to your 13.5 and that gives you 18' x 12' Does that make sense?
A 13 x 13 is one of the worst scenarios for waste.

Family room easily could be installed 2 pieces of 17 with 1 seam at the middle.. that it’s

      @montbrink4700 Рік тому +3

You don't want to put a seam in the middle of the floor

On the MB at 5:37 to get your 3 pieces by laying out 18' only to that into 3 pieces? Isn't that carpet end up turned then?

You sound like a salesman and not an installer. If you told the customer that they would have 2 cross seams or need an extra 10 yds for the job, they would pay the extra. This way of measuring is the reason why installers prefer to take the whole roll.
