  • Replaced the internals of a 2003 iMac with an M1 Mac mini logic board. All ports are functional or replaced with with more modern ones. Optical drive is also functional, and was by far the hardest part to fit into the dome.
    See this post for full build details. forums.macrumors.com/threads/...
    Thanks to dremel junkie and John Colby for your help on this!

    I like to imagine that in some parallel universe there’s a version of Apple that likes to make anniversary editions of more products like this, but with all their modern enhancements like sound quality, display quality, etc.

    Thanks to how small the Mac mini is and the new processor arch not really needing serious cooling, there's a lot of possibilities one can do with a M1 Mac mini like you did :)

    • @connorlearmonth665
      @connorlearmonth665  2 роки тому +32

      yeah its tiny, smaller than the original HDD from the G4 iMac. take a look at the build in the description to see them side by side. but actually cooling is still fine, as I've positioned the fan right next to the vents on the iMac. even with heavy gaming for hours, it doesn't slow down and just gets a little warm on the outside.
