I scrubbed through the video and I actually _didn't_ see Lumin Goop in any of the shops, so I guess I got a seed that genuinely _didn't_ have it? Unless someone sees it in one of the shops and I missed it on rewatch.
I appreciate that the art in this game gives hints for combo usage. The soulbound card for instance has decorative skulls in the art - much like Junjun and other summons in the shademancers. Also, my jaw dropped at that combo "Umm."
Bombom is one of my favourite units, legitimately. I think she's a fantastic early to mid-game character who benefits the most from the underutilised (by me) recall-to-heal mechanic. She just obliterates a lot of early fights and is still solid in the late-game without any charms, or you can just sub her out for somebody else once your build is stable
I think part of the problem (at least for Retro) is that the early fights aren't hard enough to need Bombom to actually clear them, and he gets a lot of combos anyway. As such, the extra early-game muscle isn't really needed, and so almost any of the alternative options will have more utility or synergy with whatever he's doing. In addition, recalling to heal doesn't heal enough for even a single extra attack without dying, so Bombom needs a LOT of recalls to be reused... for damage that doesn't kill enemies that aren't chaff anyway.
Lol, it do feel like that, I've had a sacrifice based run with shade masters where 4 of the other things on the board where summons that I could sacrifice next turn, it still picked my leader 😂😂
57:30 put taiga up top, spike on bottom, frostbloom blunky. heartmist station will keep both spike and taiga alive with 2 health. you'd probably still have to sac someone next turn, but you'd have more options to work with that way. only bringing this up because you tend to forget about heartmist station, its quite good! :)
there is some exponential scaling build possibility with multiple skull mist teas (14:33) and Van Jun (5:23). could be a fun pick if a shade sculptor is on the map. a little janky, probably bad... but fun :P i also didn't see the goop being offered or a second glowy node indicating that it would be there. probably a bug
Getting scammed out of true boss feels so bad, really wanted to see 3 frosty boys get outright deleted, it would probably still be a challenge even then:(
if you decide to do shroom run my advice is make sure you get the final boss kill i'm currently stuck going up against my last shroom team and it is horrible to try and beat, but shroom build is very fun to play
@Sammy Sizzle I got very lucky got the shroom hammer and both shroom units in one run it was a very different playstyle but it was really cool looking at encounters differently on dot's rather than on timers
Sorry for replying to a year old comment but this is so true. I literally filled 2 pages of names before i beat my shroom team. It had a 1 cooldown lupa with 3 block, a smackback fungun, and a hero that started with 'apply one shroom to everyone'. It was a fun run! Horrifying to try to beat.
Soulbound deals 100 damage to each other soulbound characters when they die : the egg was killed, dealing 100 damage to the boss and the 2 other enemies, both of them died, dealing 200 more damage to the boss, killing him ^^
copying bombom with the shade mask then putting her back into the deck is pretty fun. Had a run where I could dupe her twice (after the first dupe died that is). That's a lot of barrage damage and health.
the skulls would be a preeeeetty funny (and not useless item) if it worked the other way around, like, you choose which ally is affected but the enemy is random
@@Retromation True, it would need to be severely nerfed in the dmg department to balance it. I think that would elevate it to being actually useable in general, instead of only in cheese starts like this.
I think it's really fun the way it is now. I'd rather it be effectively unusable 90-95% of the time, but absurdly broken the other 5-10% over it being mid 100% of the time. (Plus it still has value as-is as an absolutely desperate Hail Mary of a YOLO to try to save a doomed situation.)
I used soulbound in a build with hero having summon bebop, gave him x2 aimless. Summon copy of ally. So my field would be 2x hero 4x bebop it was a gamble. But got lucky that my soulbound always hit the bebop
If I'm reading the effect right, it triggers whenever anything with soulbound dies, and there were four units total with soulbound. So it technically could have taken 100 damage three times! (but the second hit was enough, which is why the boss's hp shows -90)
I can think of only one scenario where soulbound would be decent but it takes so much setup for something that probably isn't worth it. You could put a bunch of crowns on something to kill your own ally then before you play your leader you set your ally down and merc them triggering the soulbound. The only issue is does leave you down a guy if the boss fight hasn't started unless it's a summon build.
Just gotta crown the Soulbound card an a Junjun summon, which only means picking up 1 crown at a shop if you're on 2+ bells. You can let an enemy kill the Junjun to trigger the effect. Also, you can exploit the Block effect to ignore the damage. Or you can run a bunch of units and just not lose the 1/6. There's multiple viable options!

Did not see it either. I think you are right.
Celerity had a run the other day where the same thing happened. Unfortunate bug I suppose?
Game got so mad at you for the OTK on Truffle and said no true end for you. 🥲
Apparently one of the shops might had been replaced with a charm merchant without giving a charm merchant the lumin.
Sometimes it happened. I got it twice already while playing, and boi it's annoying
That mushroom boss one turn kill was incredible, I loved that so much

Don't forget the crazy amount of money she makes in the process. People just never give her a chance.

The description should read always soulbound your hero to the enemy cause that's all that ever happens
Lol, it do feel like that, I've had a sacrifice based run with shade masters where 4 of the other things on the board where summons that I could sacrifice next turn, it still picked my leader 😂😂
Actually this though, I know I can play it better, but everyone I have used it, it has hit my hero, no exception
The way you utilized Soulbound was actually so genius! I’m absolutely flabbergasted
Real shame that Goop didn't show. Would have been amazing seeing the Jailer get Soulbound and you just rock that fight in 3-5turns 😅.
I can only imagine Charm Merchant trying to hide the suspiciously Lumin-Goop-colored stains on her goat's mouth

Really fun and unique run. Enjoyed it. I didn't see the 2nd piece of the urn either.

I felt the best way to abuse soulbound skulls was a hero with Block on kill.

the shroom fight had me dying
You killed Truffle in ONE turn! That's insane!
Not sure how though, it should have done 100 damage, not 110

I love this game even though i cant seem to get past third boss most of the time :) Thanks for the Video

Giving smackback to Taiga would've been awesome too
Omg this is a genius play!
It just... didn't give you goop? lol

That would make it absurdly broken

@@willfoltz or just make the card exceptionally rare. It almost is anyway.
Make it "Aply soulbound to an ally *OR* a random enemy."
So you need to use it twice to work at all, and to an random opponent at that.

the shroom boss fight was so funny
I was really looking forward to this run!
I jumped to the beginning of 43:45 battle, laughed, and admitted greatness.
41:50 me when I'm clinically insane
Great episode! But I was sad when you didnt take Tusk! That could've been super strong
I love when your note book opens and most of the names are wins then mine opens and most are loses and I've played haha
Yes, I do feel pretty aimless today :( 35:16
If would have been funny to get the skullmist tea and use it on bombom just 7 damage for everyone
perfect timing!
dude i fucked up so bad once because i applied soulbound to the boss and my hero at the same time there was literally no winning
Have you noticed that the game has a 🌈 RAINBOW 🌈 blood effect?
When?
@@skitterly In the Settings menu.
dang! i was really excited to see soulbound skulls destroy the final boss. i hope they fix that :(
I used soulbound and it hit my Hero, LOL

Bro how are you so good at this game. I feel so dumb.
Could you not have used TooToo on the final boss backline to make it hit Taiga again for a quicker kill? :o
How do you have a crown on your companion at the start of a run?
Idk if you know this retro but the sacrifice triggers if you just kill your stuff using even your swords its not well explain as mechanic
I do indeed
Commenting for the youtube algorithm
love the vids ❤❤
what is the point of just adding consume with a charm, how is that ever good?
Alright indeed xD
Soul bound skulls are actually busted if you use them right
Why did Truffle die? Soulbound only does 100 damage I thought?
