For me it didn't, but I tried to pull this off on a black belt and a purple belt. Their alarm bells went off and they directly leaned forward putting pressure. Maybe I need to hit the gym more and train my arms?
Why? You think that sweeps need to be complex? Most of my sweeps are from close guard day one bjj class. Actually almost everything in my game are very simple... If understand how do control your weigth distribution and control your opponent's weight you dont need to do ninja technical complex stuff
For me bjj its more about position angles while control your opponent and do simples and precise moves. And use your genetics in you favor... Strength, explosion, flexibility, long legs, speed, cardio. You build your game around off what you have.
I think it’s really good I think that’s no problem. It’s just when you go with a cat wrestler or like a wrestler The Jujitsu guy like me. When you actually cross your legs like that, I’m gonna reach back and I’m gonna hurt your legs and when you start to sweep over, you’re not gonna be able to because I’ll have actually a couple different like locks and it locks. Oh and a foothold.
Unless he bases out wide with his free leg and has grips established as any decent blue belt will. Left leg shoots out straight and he drops his weight back the sweep doesn’t work.
So, because of the lock on the hip it’s really difficult to turn far enough to post behind you. You can only post out to the side, which doesn’t help because the force of the sweep is pushing you backward. Here’s a video of it happening live in comp… a bunch more if you search the g roll. ua-cam.com/video/CBSD9CYqs5k/v-deo.htmlsi=yRI1GeNuymXNvbVb
grips may help but posting with the free leg not so much. Part of what makes this sweep effective is the amount of torque being applied to the trapped leg. It feels almost unsafe to resist this sweep because the trapped leg feels compromised when the opponent starts to turn for the sweep. I think that's what makes it effective when timed right.
Timing and precision will work..Everyone knew Marcelo Garcia's game but he did it anyway, everyone knew Roger's game he did it anyway, everyone knows how to defend a hook sweep but no one defended Marcelo Garcia or Gordon they continue sweeping with hooks without using force ... Everyone knows how to open the guard and defend an armbar but Roger did it anyway... He broke the Jacaré arm in a basic armbar from the guard that you learn at the white belt... You learn how to do the hook guard at the belt white and Marcelo Garcia uses it to this day even when retired in training against elite athletes, everyone studies and knows Gordon's guard pass but he passes it anyway. Everything works, mainly the basics if done well with the right timing, threatening other variations and attacks... Basically, if the opponent is in check he will end up falling for something basic.
This move, called the G Roll, was invented by Alex Ecklin of Masterskya in Manhattan, and he built his entire competitive career off this move. Not only does it work well when properly executed but there are multiple different entries to leg attacks as well. There are plenty of techniques in jiujitsu that appear to be too simple to work, but frankly just do. Hit these all the time, big dog.
@@tword5687 kid I've been training longer than you have been alive and I've won more matches and competitions then you ever will in your lifetime. It's 100% not the most powerful sweep. It's not a sweep you see people hitting all the time. What works for you may not work for the other person. Watch the noogie world that is going on and see how many times people pull the sweep off
What da blue belt doing, why his feet upside down? 😂 I would've stepped back with the left, looked the opposite dirrection, and try to swivel my knee out with a twist idealy back to neutral and back control, but if you're perpendicular, sit on the legs step up with your left and grab the far hip and arm controll. that "now lean as hard as you can into me" makes sense.

@prismjiujitsu I'm a nationals wrestler I've done it in match sounds like a skill issue straighten the right hip, you can roll with if perpendicular and its not like the guy is going to keep walking backwards if you're going to be ass to ass with you if youre parallel. I cant explain this shit to you on youtube text 😂 not like it matters, still has good capability to get better possitioning on someone, there is just a suggestion to counter and confused why youre telling him to push into you when an experienced person would not and they certainly wouldn't have their feet upside down like that. 😂
The knee shield typically blocks the back attack. If he posted the right foot, the sweep would be difficult, so you would switch to rolling underneath him to the back. Hard to explain in text but if you search “g-roll” you’ll find it. 👍 thanks for the question.
This looks like it would be funny for MMA as well. You're so stretched out that it protects your head from strikes, then you land up top to ground and pound.
As long as you’re clamping with your knee shield the entire time, and your top knee is in front of their hip, you should be good. Bigger risk is getting countered with a heel hook. If you’re aware of the risk, you should be able to avoid the danger.
I love that ‘z guard’ type of position with my knee shield right in my opponents hip. I’m a smaller dude so I use this to create space so I can set up my sweeps. If this shit works I’m going to be SO STOKED 🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤🔥🔥🔥
It won’t always work for you but it’s better to under hook with your left arm(the top arm) and then with the right hand scoop under his shin to his ankle and then roll back over your back (top shoulder). If done properly you most of the time can land in mount. I always forget the name of this one
The main thing is make sure you don’t let your feet come uncrossed. It’s tough to keep them crossed it kind of smashes your ankles. But if they come undone the sweep won’t work!
@prismjiujitsu see I completely forgot all about this already .idk why they won't let u save shorts to Playlist, it's stupid .whatever, writing down time thanks for answering !I swear I could have used this last night in the worst way
Yes, there’s definitely a risk to get caught in a toe hold or heel hook here, but you can still hit it safely as long as you’re not telegraphing it. I got it pretty often, but I train under Alex Ecklin who invented this
Wow. Sometimes bjj is absolutely magic.
What sorcery is this!?!! I will try this tonight.
Haha. Hope it’s helpful!
Did it work?
Its called the G-Roll
For me it didn't, but I tried to pull this off on a black belt and a purple belt. Their alarm bells went off and they directly leaned forward putting pressure. Maybe I need to hit the gym more and train my arms?
@@bradaaaJTtry it on lower belts
If I get sweep with this, I'll quit jits
Well Caio Terra use to do it
😂 why would you say that?
Kkkkkkkk

G-roll series by Alex ecklin sickkkk it’s on Bjj fanatics
Thank you I'll try this out since I always end up in half guard if I fail a takedown
Awesome! Half guard is a great place to sweep from. Hope it’s helpful for you.
Z guard is the greatest guard like if you agree
How is that a sweep. Where is the sweeping.
Maybe its a bjj thing to call that a sweep. In judo sweep are trips.
I mean….it’s not judo?
In bjj a sweep is when someone at the bottom ends up on top.
I think it’s really good I think that’s no problem. It’s just when you go with a cat wrestler or like a wrestler The Jujitsu guy like me. I just learned this 2 weeks ago. I got completely smashed trying it in comp over the weekend.
Hashtag: white belt problems 😂😅
It don’t work on ultras. I’m tired of trying 😂😂. I’m 6.3 265, and my ultra partners laugh at me every time I try 😂.
No you’re not because i am going to sprawl and take your back with heavy hips. Bjj nerds are always confused when sparring with a skilled wrestler.
Unless he bases out wide with his free leg and has grips established as any decent blue belt will. Left leg shoots out straight and he drops his weight back the sweep doesn’t work.
Correct..

Most powerful sweep you never see in competition

Yup. You see it in competition all the time. UA-cam it. Lol. the g roll
I’ve used it a million times. Very high percentage move. Maybe don’t talk shit

Ou yeah? Google Avi Ibragimov 😎
Tried it a bunch of times since i saw this video. Hasn’t worked once. I’m a purple belt and tried it on white belts
Saw this at a galvao seminar in 2014. Cant say ive ever seen anyone good hit with it though. John wayne sweep is better.
It's not that powerful it works only if they have a poor base❤
Pretty humble to share this technique. This will piss off alot of upper belts when i use it.
I do something like this only i cross grip the farside arm and scoop underneath the foot like an old man sweep
Reverse John wayne? Same knee lever. Just going the other way
You are going to end up knee barred worst case scenario or 50/50 best case.
This is a great way to injure you’re lower back

@prismjiujitsu I've done it in match sounds like a flexability or skill issue 😂

you don't know what you're talking about.
As a white belt who collects dumb moves to try on blue belts, thank you lol
If he post both legs this is pointless only works on people that don't know
You’re not doing this to a heavier opponent
Careful to not cross your legs a lot could lead into leg locks
Why didnt he just post his left arm out and stop it 😂
What the hell? How is it I’ve never seen this before
Very ineffective in competition
Is this called like a G turn or something? I have learned this before just forgot the name.
G roll
If his right foot was on the mat would he be able to take your back? Or does this only work bc his foot is trapped
The knee shield typically blocks the back attack. If he posted the right foot, the sweep would be difficult, so you would switch to rolling underneath him to the back. Hard to explain in text but if you search “g-roll” you’ll find it. 👍 thanks for the question.
This is my favorite halfguard sweep. It works in nogi too!
This looks like it would be funny for MMA as well. You're so stretched out that it protects your head from strikes, then you land up top to ground and pound.
G-guard, look it up, ops will drive into, and theres options from there
That is called leverage
What if he got one of your arms
I'll try this tomorrow and end up getting smashed
Sprawl...
Dude needs to wash that gi
Post with left leg😂
G ROOOOLLLLLLLLLLLL
What!!! man I love half guard. I’m gonna try this tonight.
Wat Da Puck did I just see? Oh man.. I’m gonna try this tonight. 😁
Haha wtf....how
this is so bad
No way. No way?
That’s an sick sweep but is there a risk of getting the back taken?

You lie...
What happens if he posts? 🤷🏻♂️
ALEX ECKLIN'S G ROLL
Pure fire 🔥
Cab you do this from full guard off a scissor sweep or do you need that bottom leg holding them in place?
Bananas
I feel like I would dislocate my my shoulders pushing back from that position but I’ll try it next lab class. Getting old sucks.
I've used this for years! Also they can't use a weave with their arm folks. Your knee won't collapse. Can't believe he showed it
Nice sweep. Love how you say strongest one YOU HAVE learned, feel all these instructionals say like "best closed guard sweep in bjj" is very annoying
G roll
🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶
G-roll baby. It actually works. Im 130 lb blue belt and Ive hit this a few times
Seems like it could work, but also easily expose your legs to various entanglements.
😮
ALEX ECKLIN - G roll bjj fanatics
Called the G roll made famous by Alex Ecklin, use it all the time very hard to counter once you go belly down
Idk about most powerful, but definitely effective. You’ll have to hit it much faster then it’s demonstrated here though
I might try this in wrestling after someone does a takedown if I fail the sprawl could be a good reversal since they wont be ready for it
I love that ‘z guard’ type of position with my knee shield right in my opponents hip. I’m a smaller dude so I use this to create space so I can set up my sweeps. If this shit works I’m going to be SO STOKED 🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤🔥🔥🔥

Caio Terra sweep
Does the guy ever find success attempting to clear the knee off of his hip before the bottom guy can get up onto his hands?
Everytime i do that people get salty and angry because they roll back over there knee and ankle
Oss
Oss
As per usual the simplistic remains elusive until its shown.i cant wait to try this im in this positin all tje time.whats key here?
The main thing is make sure you don’t let your feet come uncrossed. It’s tough to keep them crossed it kind of smashes your ankles. But if they come undone the sweep won’t work!

A sweep that sometimes susceptible for back take lelz haha
G rolls people!! And yes they are magic 😅
Land in the toehold❤
Love this sweep! I like how you turn away at the end, i sometimes end up in a leg entanglement so ill try that!
Why wouldn't he base with his left hand?
All he has to do is clear the knee which is very shallow...
What if they extend their legs straight out and twist out of that?
What about the heel hook that you’re falling directly into?
Tried this and got passed immediately
Z guard sweep works excellent ❤it’s better if you cross your feet tho too foot over bottom foot
what would happen if the blue belt kept rolling 🤔
🔥
Gonna try it tonight i ll keep you updated 😈
Time for you to learn some more sweeps mate.
Throwing it back on him.
wtf why can’t I just think to do this
God damn, thanks for sharing
Damn this is fire!
Hope I can pull this off
G roll 🔥
Wow, i actually rolled through the comments to See If someone knows the g-roll System
Wow
Oh i so want to drill this😊
Gold!
😮❤
LOL 😂
Anyone else get countered with a toe hold when they do this sweep?
Yes, there’s definitely a risk to get caught in a toe hold or heel hook here, but you can still hit it safely as long as you’re not telegraphing it. I got it pretty often, but I train under Alex Ecklin who invented this
