Just ordered, great video!! I loved the overall delivery & timeliness of this video. Timestamps felt like they didn't miss a beat & with this product it seems like you've thought of it all! Us plebians looking to maintain our Refresh Program by any means possible yet still enjoy the 10-bit goodness on the GoPro 11 salute you!
I had ordered a different gopro mount for the avata. The gyro stabilization is looking a little stiff compared to the Avata camera (smooth as it gets). So, figured I'd give this a shot!
hey man i want to do the same thing, can you update me? I want the 11 mini but the fact that I can't change the battery leaves me in doubt, I also want to know if the weight is worth it compared to the normal 11
@@italobarreto hmmm it all depends I guess. I really have no need to get a normal 11 as I feel like my 9 and 10 do the job already. 11 mini I feel would be more dedicated to to the Avata and I wouldn’t worry about the battery life as I believe 3 Avata batteries will probably run out before the mini 11 does. I like the avata camera just the dynamic range and bitrate just isn’t there. We will see when the mini comes out.
So the new Mini 11 is 133g compared to the full size Hero 11 at 154g. You will need to decide if the lack of screens and built-in battery is worth the 21g savings, I personally don't think it will be. I will still get the Mini 11 when it is available but don't expect a big weight savings, there isn't much.
@@AerialPixel i just want to buy the 11 to put in my avata and i am worried if the weight can affect the perform and the pause button to safe the avata in case of collision. i am considering the Mini because the weight and the price too, its very cheaper for me in my country, in USA is 100$ different but when calculate to my country comes like 500$ in the difference versus the normal 11
Nice mount & video here! Looks like rear-facing camera does best at lower speeds due to tilt. Any workarounds for getting useable rear-facing camera footage? Wonder if a mount on the belly would work well? Avata easy to hand launch/land
You can tip it down further than what I had before the prop guards are in view, but yes flying slower works best as the faster you fly the more up-tilt you will have. I try not to mount stuff under the drone so there isn't anything in the way of the props or bottom sensors. Blocking portions of the props would decrease their performance somewhat.
That's odd, haven't heard of this happening with the Avata, A few questions for you: 1. Are you using an Aerial-Pixel Avata mount or another 3rd Party mount? 2. Which GoPro are you using? 3. Is the GoPro covering the GPS at all? Do you have it mounted backwards for rear view shots? The cutout in the Mount for the GPS is properly aligned? 4. Do you have WiFi on the GoPro turned off? 5. Does it only do it while recording or all the time?
Hey man, love the content... try upping the ISO on your main camera so that you can then lower the overall exposure and help retain those highlights on your face from burning out. Also, the sound from the DJI mic is pretty decent!.... do you at all think a tooled camera mount for the Avata is a better idea? (like what we have from SmallRig on the big FPV?)
Thanks for the tip! I was never a fan of the SmallRig mount on the DJI FPV, it covered a lot of the GPS. But I'm sure someone will do an injection molded version within the coming months. I've already seen clones of my mount popping up.
Due to an overwhelming response to the Avata GoPro Mount please expect a 2 day production time before your kit ships. I will update this comment with the current wait time as the queue length changes. Thank you for your incredible support! I can't wait to see the content you create! UPDATED 6/19/2023
I just received mine after only a couple days of which I ordered. Also fits nice and snug I thought I would have to zip tie it just in case but I didn’t have to. Thanks!
Yes, it will support anything with GoPro style fingers. The drone can handle the weight of a Hero 11, I wouldn't go too much heavier though, approximately 153g.
I've done it with the Insta360 One X2. There is some RF interference between that camera and the GPS on the AVATA so satellite count goes down to between 7 to 10. Other than the extra weight and slightly shorter flight times it flew fine.
Will the action 2 mount (blue) keep the camera locked in when force is applied to the front, in my case i want to use it for surfing and i m afraid the camera will pop up if i faceplant in wipeouts?
How high did you have to angle the action 2 as a rear mount to not capture the battery/props in frame? I’m interested a rear mount for chase shots of cars etc. but I feel this one isn’t as good as the FPV backpack mount. Will you be working on a dedicated back mount for the Avata?
I had the camera pointed downward at about a 10 degree angle. I could have gone down slightly lower before getting the props guards in view. The camera was set to Standard (Dewarp) in 4k30 16:9, if you go Wide or Ultrawide you will start seeing the prop guards more. Obviously the faster you go the more skyward the camera looks, so you just have to judge your speed vs your camera angle. I don't think I will be developing a backpack mount like on the FPV drone, I don't think the smaller motors would be able to handle the center of gravity that far back.

Thanks for your support! The TPU portion helps with gyro data compared to an all hard plastic mount.
Just got mine, thanks guys!
Enjoy! Thanks for your support!
Oooo great job on this, definitely checking it out
Thanks Matt!
Interesting. I just ordered one and can't wait to check it out. Planning on putting a GoPro 11 mini so let's see how that works...
Thanks for your support Andrew! I think the 11 Mini will be a perfect companion to the Avata! I plan on doing the same.

Why not make the STL files available for purchase?

I’m thinking about ordering one of these. Anyone tried mounting a 360 camera to one for cool 360 footage?

Yes, it takes quite a bit of force to pull it out, there are rubber flanges on the screen side that hold it in place.
