Awesome! Loved the hang time before it took off.... allows one to savor those whistles full on! (For a second there I thought it wasn't going to take off, then it did) Phenomenal!
A Girandola needs time to spin up to gain lift. It is the spinning centrifugal force and rocket lift that allows it to go up. Related physics. ua-cam.com/video/GeyDf4ooPdo/v-deo.html
ned is truly the master ! it has to burn off some fuel weight on the pad at first to lose enough to balance the upforce then off it goes! what a magic balance of rocket design, size, fuel load vs thrust , probably end burner for such a long duration burn , so nozzle design/size comes into the equation , fuel burn speed too , weight of componets , just to get that dramatic slow take off with increasing accelleration as it looses weight , ned's dola's are something special , works of pyrotechnical art and math! but from my experience a lot of trial and error too is involved, some epic cato's and failed launches , and there is always one that gets a mind of its own , turns mid air and comes back STRAIGHT AT YOU!
thanks for the reply, i thought i was still invisible on the internet for my opinions on the ev fire off netherlands , see john cadogan " 500 ev's burn" the video should be a comm service announcement!@@nedgorski
No, that worked exactly as designed and intended. It had to lose about half the propellant weight before it was light enough to fly. Perfect. There was just a little angle to the motors.
"One thing I am sure of, it is going to be loud." A bit like my first attempt at a 3/4" motor. The burn time was, estimated, about 0.5 seconds and it was very loud indeed. The impulse must have been pretty good as the motor burried itself 2/3'rds of the way down in my lawn...I never found the nozzle, it may have achieved orbit but without tracking capability I am not sure.
We really enjoyed seeing the Talai and Bang Fai fly in Thailand. Huge machines. But, a Talai is not a girandola. They are hoop-stabilized single-tube-motor tourbillions. Great, impressive machines, for sure.
Right i thought it was perfect add a couple fairy fountains and fire at night wound be awesome I loved the way the non whistle fairy fountain girandola came out would love to see one whistle
I'd be laughing my ass off if my wheel flew way up there....but crying Crocodile tears if it didn't flew up that high..compared to a small buzzbomb....I notice when it doesn't take off in seconds till half it's weight is burned away..then it has the " oof" to TAKE OFF !!!

The best thing about the video was the laughter and joy. Greetings from Germany.
Why anyone would dislike I’ll never understand. Absolutely beautiful. I love all your work. 🍻🤙🏽🇺🇸
Hey, thanks, Aaron. We can't make everyone happy, but a few will do. Enjoy.
I love it, the girandola was great and the reactions were just as awesome.
Perfect !!! Love the ground delay , intended or not , loved it

That was really funny :) you can always tell a man loves his work when it makes him this happy, well done that was a nice entertaining Girandola Ned.
The noise alone was fantastick!

Thanks, Pete. I do enjoy getting that balance just right. Fun devices.

APPLAUSE! That was very cool screamer and It even entered stratosphere!
That was pretty spectacular great amazing build
I can hear that thing now. I have two almost ready to fly. Can’t wait.
Let us know how they fly, John.
Kickass Ned! I hope to put together my first girandola at PGI this year.
Excellent, Art. Enjoy the new project.
That was a very cool girandala. 👍🏻
Ned, your my Hero.
Very good, Ned!
that was awesome. but was the angle of the motors too much? i think that maybe why it sat for a bit before taking off.
Still a great build.
or do you guys not use a wheel bearing on your launcher?
No, that worked exactly as designed and intended. It had to lose about half the propellant weight before it was light enough to fly. Perfect. There was just a little angle to the motors.
Folks dont seem to realize how unimpressive they are if they take off too fast if he wanted that he would have used much smaller drivers
Good one Ned!..👍

I used 1lb whistle drivers on a wheel, painfully loud..only did it once ;)
You bet. I’ll try to video them. I’m not for sure how to post all of it but I’ll get my son to help. 👍🏻
Love love it!👍🏾🧨❤️
totally obnoxious! i love it!
What is the green and purple thing
Kids will be kids. Ned is really excited. I wonder if he peed his pants, shorts!
Not quite. But it sure got us belly-laughing...
Put a 60 degree angle on those center support bars. It should help create lift . Cheers
Why do that it looked perfect
Love it 🔥
realy cool! awesome stuf
love the girries
Love it!!! More videos!!!!!!
It sure gave you quite a laugh ;)
Super Antrieb!
Awesome!
Freakin Awesome!
Good stuff! cut down 3 pound motors?
3/4" ID motors.
In model rocket motor terminology, that motor would be a "D1-P".
whistle composition...??
Victory!
*EXCELLENT*
wow awsome
Talai thailand

Nice
Needs a good kaboom at the end!!
These all BP motors?
nathan rubio hahahahahahahaahahhaahahahahhaahahahahahah... it’s perc Benzoat
I didn't think it was going to ever get up in the air.
That was the idea...
Right i thought it was perfect add a couple fairy fountains and fire at night wound be awesome I loved the way the non whistle fairy fountain girandola came out would love to see one whistle
Sadly it was shot down by that laser beam at 1:38
So I’m The Only Person Seeing A Colored Beam Of Light At The End?
That's the camera sensor being overwhelmed by the bright sunlight and/or light from the girandola, Era.

Yep, that was the idea, Robert. Fun device to make.
Check this out: The Isaan Space Program
Why are these always during the day and poorly filmed.
That was cool & all but now there's a chunk of sheet metal coming back down to your melon, why not cardboard with a detonation in the air?
By sheet metal, are you talking about the plastic bucket used as a frame? LOL
