Hello, I love the methodology and the way you explain, excellent review. In the end I bought this model :) This weekend I am going to install it, it is for an R5 5600 (non x). With the stock cooler it raises a lot of temperature and I am convinced that the degrees will drop a lot both at idle and in games and full load.
Thank you and I agree. I originally compared the Thermaltake Contac 12 with the stock cooler and it was a big difference. The ID cooler is much better than the Contac 12.
Very nice video! All my questions clarified. Great job!
That's awesome and thank you.
I buy the cooler for a Ryzen 9 5950X and the idea is to put a second fan to increase the airflow. A second fan accelerates the exhaust airflow taking fresh air from the left and right sides improving the cooling efficiency on the radiator fins. Excellent job from ID-Cooling the SE-226-XT.
Nice. You'll have to let us know how that goes and what kind of temps you're seeing.
Great video as always.
Thank you!!
Literally just got this today, haven't installed yet, great to see how it will go up against other coolers! Thanks a lot for this!
Awesome. I'm glad it was helpful. You'll hvae to let me know how you found the install.
@@jimbopcbuilds Actually now I am thinking how ill go about installing it as I dont have long screw driver lol Hope later I can find something to use and install it properly haha Thanks!
Ah, that's a problem. May be time to find a neighbour with one? I found a set of them in Home Depot a while back. I'm sure other hardware stores may have some as well.
@@jimbopcbuilds trying to install it now, can't install it, I do need the long one lol, might do a quick run at the store later to get one,
@@Usersf134ssk Good luck, let me know if you manage to find one.
great review. i agree a screwdriver should be included because not everyone lives somewhere that they can just pop down to the hardware store to pick one up.
Thank you and agreed. Luckily some others do include one.
Excellent review as always, will be picking one of these up as soon as possible.

Thank you and let me know how you find it.
Great short straight to the point review👌
Thank you. Really nice to hear.
Oh and thank you for the sub.
I was looking for a review for this cooler, I was torn between a 240 AIO and this. I think it's clear that this performs very well
I actually added a 360 AIO in my last video and the ID cooler was pretty close temp wise which was amazing result given the difference in price etc.
Oh and thank you for the sub
Thanks for the review. Ordering this puppy today.
Nice. Let me know how you get on.
@@jimbopcbuilds
Oh snap! I forgot about the long screwdriver you've mentioned earlier.
@@fajaradi1223 You can get them from Amazon or a DIY store easily enough, but still a bit of a pain.
thanks for the great video you helped me a lot
That's awesome! Glad to be of help.
Appreciate the review, happy to toss you a sub towards get'n your monitization going on.
Keep up the great work.
Thank you so much, I really appreciate it.
Tnk for the video and info 10/10
Thank you. I hope it was helpful?
I never expected these results about id cooling se 226xt cooler
It took me by surprise as well. I did replicate the results. Whenever I see a change in the data points like this (good or bad) I always try to replicate them to make sure the data wasn't off.
Thanks for the video. Would really like if you could also show a little more on how to install it.
I used to do that but then the videos were too long and people started skipping them.
I replaced my fuma 2 with the se-226-xt and it performs quite a bit better, and looks dramatically better in my opinion. I put an rgb fan on the front and the ID cooling fan on the rear, and under full load the ID cooling fan will ramp up just a few hundred rpms, and only for a few seconds. Works amazingly well. Thank you for the honest review and keep up the good work! And just for anyone considering buying the cooler that doesn't care too much for the hole on the lid, ID cooling was kind enough to include a very nice puffy metallic decal of the ID logo to cover the hole. Looks great.
Nice to hear and thank you. I didn’t notice the decal so good info. What rgb fan did you add?
Just one of my case fans, a EZDIY-FAB Moonlight 120mm
@@robotpicnic6508 The rGB on these fans looks pretty nice.
@@jimbopcbuilds Surprisingly, for relatively cheap rgb fans they look quite nice with bright and saturated rgb, solid build quality and quiet as well. I'm not sure if the push /pull configuration is benefiting my cpu Temps, as I have not tested with the single fan, but I can say that even under heavy load the fan included with the cooler rarely ramps up above 900 or so rpms.
@@robotpicnic6508 You should try it with a single RGB fan to see how it does? I'd be very interesting to see if there is a difference with the original single fan and a single RGB fan.
Mine gonna arrive tomorrow, it's one of the best value reviewed Cooler on the market. Hope my 5600 gonna love it ( it's gonna replace Cooler Master T20 ). Great vids btw, keep it on going, tho maybe you can add a top cam or close up on installing so it can be much clearer to see, and maybe a close up on cooler you review ( i like the detail on the pipe, hsf, and base )
Both good suggestions thank you. I'll look at how I can get a top down camera in place as it would be handy for builds as well. As for the cooler, it'll keep a 5600 ice cold no problem. You'll have to let me know how it goes.
Gracias, me ayudo mucho...
Eres muy bienvenido
Very helpful video, thank you for testing so well!
I was wondering if I should get the SE-226-XT Black or the SE-224-XT, but I think the 226 is better. Obviously I prefer the Noctua one, but in my country it's very expensive.
I've not tested the 224, but based purely on the number fans / heat pipes / etc I'd go for the 226 if the price isn't too high. Also what CPU are you looking to cool? If it's say the 5600x the 224 should be good enough.
@@jimbopcbuilds I will buy the 12600KF
I think you get away with the 224 as it's rated for 180w and the 12600kf is 150w, but personally go for the 226 as it's a better cooler
Hey jimbo great vid! I also loved your lancool 205 mesh video! I have a few questions. First, what CPU do you use for the tests? And also what thermal paste do you use for it? Also is the same cpu used across all the cooler tests? Sorry to bother just wondering, thanks!
No worries at and always glad to answer. The CPU is 10700k and it’s noctua thermal paste. I’ll get the exact paste in a bit. I use the same for testing every cooler. I also use the pea method for every cooler.
It's Noctua NT-H1
I'm so pleased with these on my i5-12600. I'm getting 20C idle and 69C max temps.
That's awesome. It's always nice to hear when you test something that it actually performs sustainably. I do leave the coolers on my test bench and use them for a while until I test the next one, but there's nothing better than real world usage data to back up the test and findings.
waiting on my order to arrive. I run OC Ryzen 2600 and it goes up to over 80C hopefully this thing will bring it down to under 70C avg stressed
You’ll have to let us know what temps you see after the install.
blows my expectations. I currently run 4.1Ghz @ 1.29V and it hovers around 60C and highest was 63C. Best Dollar:Effect Ratio I've spent over my entire pc
That's a fantastic result
Great video, I just ordered this along with a 5800x3D. It should offer a nice boost fron my 2700X
That’s an excellent upgrade especially for gaming and thank you.
Good video. Thinking about buying this cooler for 5600x.
It’ll do so well with a 5600x. You’ll barely hear it.
Very nice review! I would like to know if this would work well with a ryzen 5 5600x? (I bet it is since you said it could work with the 5950x, but just to make sure)
It'll work very well with a 5600x
Great vid! How long of a screwdriver is needed? I'm about to buy one of these.
I don’t know the exact length. I’m in the office today but I’ll measure it once I’m back home.
Thanks a lot for the thorough review. I'm looking at getting one of these and noticed the RGB version is one sale at Amazon for basically the same price as the non-RGB one. Only thing though is that according to the specs the RGB version has a ball bearing fan with higher RPM but with less cfm vs a hydraulic bearing with lower RPM but higher cfm in the non-RGB one. I'm really surprised the fans don't have the same specs, but If this is actually the case and not a mistake then I guess the non-RGB version would be the best one for air flow/temps, but the RGB version would be a little quieter? Is my thinking right here?
The non RGB was pretty quiet. I don't think the bearing fan will quieter at all as it will have to work harder to push the same amount of air through, hence the higher speeds.
Oh men i saw this video late bc last weak i bougth the FUMA 2 Rev. B, the new version of FUMA 2, and now i think i did a bad choice bc this ID Cooling have a bit peformance but with a very good price soo i could have save some money well its a shame. Thanks for the video Jimbo!
The fuma isn't a bad choice. It's still a very good cooler, so I wouldn't be too down. :)
@@jimbopcbuilds Well yeah you have right thanks dude
i have this cooler as well. i swapped the stock fan to 2 Arctic p120 pwm fans on a 12600k. even under most loads. never gets over 45c in a fractal air pop.
Nice. Did you check the temps before swapping the fans?
How does cinebench score drop and the temps are not throttling on the other coolers?
Good question. Firstly I'd like to make sure there are some things out there: 1) All the values are averages over multiple runs 2) I make sure there are no background tasks running 3) I maintain a set temp in the room to keep that out of the equation 4) After installing the cooler I run several stress tests to make sure the thermal paste is set correctly 4) I have not made any changes to the BIOS or the Fan profile since starting the testing. But to try and answer your question, the boost profile on the Intel CPUs is managed based on the temps. It doesn't just go down when the CPU is throttled. So based on what I've seen when testing, the lower the maintained temp, the better the boost profile. I hope that helps?
Nice :D
Thank you. I hope it was helpful?
great scythe fuma 2 alternative, just wondering if the se-226 comes with scewdriver?
No it unfortunately doesn’t. 🙂
Hello! Great review! I have a question. Deepcool ak400 or id cooling se 226 xt? And how loud id cooling is?
I've not tested the AK400 but the next cooler on my list (I've bought it already) is AK620, so that should give you an idea at the very least.
@@jimbopcbuilds Compare id cooling se 226 xt to ak620, which do you prefer?
I don't know yet. I've got a video to edit then I'll be installing it. Once I've done that and tested it I'll let you know before I put the video up.
what screwdriver do u recommend? i wasnt able to find any rgb ones on the market so thought id ask
A long one, with RGB being optional, although it makes it turn more quickly obviously 😀
Any idea if this should preform better or worse than the SE-207-XT? They are literally the same price , but looking at reviews on the web the conclusions widely vary.
I've not tested the 207, but one for the future. As for which is better, the 207 is rated at a higher TDP and has one more heat pipe, plus it has 2 fans. So for me I think it depends on what CPU you put it on. I think the (based on specs) that the 207 will run quieter with hotter CPUs. So if you're thinking of getting say a 12900k I'd get the 207.
Commenting for the algorithm
Thank you
How does DEEPCOOL AK400 compare against se 226 xt? Ive seen some review stating they are almost the same, but deepcool is a little cheaper.
I actually did that comparisum in another video... ua-cam.com/video/s3IO5nztJ_o/v-deo.html
Do you recommend the ID Cooling SE-226-XT for the i5 13600k?
I know the latest Intel CPUs can be a bit on the hot side, but the SE-226-XT (I wish it was quicker to type) will be able to handle the 13600K no problem
did it include a lga 1700 bracket in the box?
It's the same bracket for 1700 and 1200. The stand offs change. I did mention that in the video.
is good for i7 12700kf? and did it include a lga 1700 bracket?
There's no bracket as it is 1700 ready out of the box and yes it should handle the 12700KF. Although I haven't tested overcl;ocking with the cooler. Are yopu planning to over clock?
Hi do you think this would be fine with a 5600x oc
Yes I think it will. The 5600x isn't the hotest CPU out there, but I guess it depends on how agressive you are with the oc.
👍
Thank you
i have the ID Cooling SE-226-XT Black argb with a Ryzen 7 5800X, but the cpu in idle is in 54-60° in 15% charge, 70° and insta start cinebench r20 the cpu go to 100°, its normal or its badly instaled?
i payed 40 dollars for the install T-T
Some 5800x run hot. I'm in the process of moving from oine to a 12-900k. My 5800x used to run idle at 40-50 and would also hit 100 in after some time in cinebench. So while the cooler might not be seated properly, you might also just have a 5800x that runs very hot.
@@jimbopcbuilds I understand, but I mean that as soon as you start cinebench, it goes to 100° and monitoring 15% of use with 70°, the cpu consumed 70-80Watts; do you think that is ok?
No that's not ok. With that in mind I'd say that the cooler isn't getting good contact or there's no thermal paste. That or you ended up with the worst silicon on record, which I doubt. For me you need to go back to whoever installed it and point this out to them. If they've got anything about them they should at least look to find out what the issue is. They could have done something daft like leaving the plastic cover on the bottom of the plate. I've done that myself before.
Undervolt your 5800x, Ryzen "X" CPU usually are over voltage out of the box.
Which would be better ID-Cooling CPU Cooler SE-206-XT or SE-226 XT?
It would depend on the CPU. I’ve not tested the 206, but it’s dual fan and looks pretty beefy so it should be able to handle higher end CPUs. But it would be complete overkill for say a 5600x.
Hi, I hope someone could help me.
I got the id-se 226 cooler today, and im getting 68° degrees under 100% load whit 55 watts of tdp.
Did i install the cooler on a bad way or something?
Cpu is ryzen 5 5500, I dont know how to measure the room temperature but is kinda hot
What’s your idle temp with cpu at 0%?
@@jimbopcbuilds38 to 40 degrees
@@VashhStamped That's not too high. Have you checked your fan curve in the bios? 68 isn't that bad, you may just have to change when the fan speed really kicks in. Oh and you did remember to take the sticker off the bottom of the cooler? That's got me before.
@@jimbopcbuildsthe fan curve, the cpu fan spins from 1400 on idle to 1500 rpm (max speed).

im using the jonsbo d30 matx case, 5600x (stock) with 226xt arg, rtx 3070 asus dual 2.5 slots, no fans intake cause the gpu is too fat, and 2 140mm rgb outtake fans, and my idle cpu tmeps are 41 to 42 c, did i install the heatsink wrong or is it too low air intake?
The 5 series cpus do run warm, but that does seem a little high for a 5600x. What’s the temp under load? What thermal grease did you use?
@@jimbopcbuilds gaming with 1440p high or ultra it goes 65 to 68 c - and the grease that came with the 226xt
sould reaply thermal grase and check the cooler is in optimal position? and put 2 intake fans? now the 3070 is the only one letting air in
65 - 68 isn’t that high, but gaming doesn’t really tax the CPU. Have you tried running something like cinebrnch?
@@jimbopcbuilds nope, i just finished to migrate everything to the d30 yesterday, so i only checked the temps with destiny 2 in 1440 high
