- With this new movie in the Monsterverse, we finally got to see who is stronger, Monkey or Lizard... but it turned out that friendship is stronger even than these iconic pop-culture kings. Will this figure be able to compete against the S.H. MonsterArts version?

Lizard. His movies individually are lower-quality than Monkeys by comparison, but Monkey isn't a monkey, so he doesn't have a tail. Meanwhile, Lizard is a lizard, so he has a big strong tail he can use to slide on when dropkicking giant drill-handed beetles from the earth's core.
I grew up, loving them both as a kid. But as far as variety in various media, I have to give it to Godzilla on this one. The rogues gallery, and how vastly different his stories are compared to most iterations of Kong.
Going to have to get these guys cause I really regret not getting the Godzilla this company made. Definitely excited for the future monsters they have lined up.
Lizard, hands down. Monkey has a great, timeless story thats great for remakes and reinterpretation, but theyre mostly great one offs. Lizard on the other hand has so much mileage in terms of variety and entertainment.
I like lizard.
I get that monkey is more relatable and expressive and that's cool, but he's just never had the same enticing appeal that giant rampaging lizard evokes
Lizards hands down...I grew up on Godzilla and loved how he became an icon. Loved Lizard so much I got into breeding and keeping my own :)
In the battle between Reptile and Simian, Monkey and Lizard, I'm going Lizard.
That said, as good as Godzilla is, King Kong 1933 is the greatest movie of all time.
This monkey is very close to being the definitive Kong after the sdcc one.

I concur lizard 🦎 has the better lore, characters and abilities... as for monkey 🐒 he has trouble with planes, buildings and an unhealthy addiction to women..🙈

It’s a shame they don’t go for more of a 8” scale.
So they look more impressive than standard 12” inch scale, but still fit in.

His arms can go down. The shoulder joints aren't positioned right for some reason. If you turn the shoulders until the hinge lines up you get much better range. There's also a fix for the midsection. Put a tiny piece of paper towel down in the waste socket. Videos available on here.
Lizard. It’s basically a giant dinosaur that breaths fire/lasers and has cool glowing spines.
Of course Godzilla all the way for me lol but I definitely don't hate Kong. I respect him too since he's pretty much the first major kaiju in film history. Too bad for the articulation though. I'd stick with my second released neca Kong which is pretty awesome besides the legs being a bit hard to animate due to them snapping forward too much. Still glad bandai is getting some competition at least

If we are talking about who is more fun to watch, Lizard! I would rather be friends with Monkey though and ride around on his shoulder. I would also rather Monkey win in a battle because he has feelings and Lizard is, well, a reptile. Thanks for the awesome review Anthony ❤️👏👍

So watching this review compared to the godzilla figure... seems Godzilla wins again.
Yup, it's Hi-ya, they said it themselves waaaay back in a Pixel Dan interview, and I also talk to them on the reg, and they've never corrected me lol. And yeah, I said the same thing about the shoulders, they should have cut it a little further in for a better range of motion. Looks-wise I think they nailed it, though. Happy new year, man!

The King Kong story is much better than any Godzilla, in my opinion, but it only works as a one off. He has to die.
Godzilla is great because of all the lore and crazy monsters and reinterpretations. So, Godzilla.

But as far as this vs SHMA....Id get the SHMA. I have them both and right now prices for both SDCC and normal are very cheap. I feel like at least for the SDCC he poses better, looks more accurate to the film. Hiya looks almost like a bootleg to be due to the cuts. This is coming from someone who replaced the SHMA 2019 Godzilla with Hiya, due to it being the better figure. I can't wait for Rodan and Mothra, both of which Bandi never made correctly. I'm also excited for their 2014 version along with the announced MUTOS!

neca’s king kong has a whole lot better articulations than this
Had a feeling that Hiya Monsterverse line is inspired by the Monsterarts counterparts. That walking on all 4 hands doesn't need to be there but since Monsterarts has it, they did it too. But I do like that their starting prices are lower and are slightly bigger than SHMA. Looks wise I think they nailed it too even though in terms of articulation, Hiya's Monke is worse than the SHMA.
