No need to fiddle aroung with fan speeds etc. If it's not going full blast right away it means that there is no point in doing so. I really don't get it :P also, setting the temperature to LOW instead of 70 will not make the car cooler any faster...

price reductions on the car in general are usually due to improvements and refinements in the manufacturing process that make it cheaper to produce. so you guys who complain that you had to buy it for more, its because your particular car cost more to make, so deal with it. thats how most mass production products work. if i go buy an xbox the day it launches, its going to be more expensive then when its been out a few years. its just how things work. its the price you pay to have the latest and greatest.

    Good video! Some feedback:
    1. Superchargers really should only be used for long road trips and not really tooling around town but given you charge via a standard outlet can see the need for a quick fill. But as an owner with in apartment charging, I would not own a tesla if I couldn't charge at home or at least at work.
    2. Regarding car washes, those micro scratches will happen with any car even with hand washing. Black unfortunately makes them stand out more but if you wax your car twice a year they should cover those right up!
    3. For the AC, if you weren't aware if you hold down the fan button it'll turn on/off the AC without you having to go into the pull up menu. So really just hold down button and lower temp to whatever you are at and keep AC on auto. I find its worked wonderfully for me.
    good video!

Witty, one-off reactive comments aren't well thought out typically.
First, I'm confused by your comment. I did move from LA after a decade of living there. I encourage you to always ask questions before responding in life. It's professional. Even artists should know that. Secondly, you say the population of LA is greater than texas. Are you comparing a city and a state? If so I'm confused. Texas has a population of over 20 million. LA has only 8.5 million. What city are you referring to? Or, did you think Texas was a city?
I can think of a dozen cities with restaurants, some have beaches, and tourist locations. Miami, Washington DC, Boston, Las Vegas, Denver, Atlanta, the coasts of North/South Carolina.

You can take it to a car wash and have a machine do it but it has the same issue as ant other car meaning if you're trying not to get the swirls in your paint then you have to do things to protect it better. It doesn't matter if it is a regular car or a Tesla people recommend getting the clear protector professionally installed.
But if you're swayed against a Tesla then keep your ey on the EV market because over the next year there are going to be some cool ones coming out.

The touchscreen does get annoying when trying to do simple tasks. A few knobs would be nice, like a/c or just changing the radio. When the wheel caps were first put on we thought they were just covers to protect the car during manufacturing cause the wheels underneath looks so much better. We were shocked to find out they were actually part of the car.

Your Tesla Model 3 is “not” restricted from use at a drive through carwash. You simply need to place the car in “neutral” to allow it to roll on the conveyor at the carwash. To put your car in “N” (neutral) you need to use the right stalk. Hold it in the up position for two seconds and your screen will indicate “N” and you can roll into any carwash. Problem solved! 😉
Also, it’s not your fault that you got curb rash on your wheels while parking. I did the exact same thing and I realize now that it’s because the backup cameras give you a false impression of how close you actually are from the curb. If you want it removed, I found a reputable guy that does mobile rim repairs. He charged me $100 and it literally looks like it never happened.

In the car washes which just have the strips of soap filled cloth, not so much, but dirt lodged in the cloth can leave scratches.
OK, OK, OK, you won't see them from a couple of feet away, but they are cumulative. I just go to the local hand sprayer, rinse with the "deionize" water, and give it a rinse and chamois when I get home. How long will I do this? Don't know. Haven't bought a new car since 1970. Guess it's just new car fever. I will do the uber hand wash and put the ceramic coat on it, though. That deep shiny red is awful purty.

Waterborne paints are cleaner for the environment.
Waterborne paints are the healthier option for workers.
Waterborne paints are often less expensive.
Get a high-gloss finish without additional coats required for solvent-based paints.
      Waterborne paints are very durable."
So, normal paint has a clear coat, which protects the actual paint from scratching etc. If you have scratches, you polish the car (the clear coat it is), and they are gone. Since the Tesla does NOT have clear coat, all scratches are in the very thin paint (100 micron), and very hard to polish them out, since the paint is so thin. Therefore it is adviced to put a ceramic coating on top, to protect the paint.

here's a blunt version of this video if you're considering buying a tesla:
    - if you don't have the convenience of home charging, then EVs should be reconsidered. you're wasting time (and money) if you have to rely on supercharging or public chargers. that's not to say that it's not doable, but be aware of how much time you'd be wasting if you have a 9-5 job with no work or home charging. time is money.
    - use ONR and the 2 bucket method when washing your car. it's fast, efficient, and sustainable. and don't buy a black car because swirl marks and scratches can be seen easily.
    - price changes are inevitable. no one gets mad when dealerships change their prices on an hourly basis but when tesla does it everyone goes crazy???

If a person lived in an apartment and was thinking of getting an EV they should download the Plugshare app and look for charging spots near them.
I have Superchargers North, South, and East of me. Two are at grocery stores and the third is at a casino with restaurants. There are four destination chargers near me that I have never used. One shopping mall near me now has 8 free level 2 chargers and another one has 4. There is a parking garage with a bunch of chargers, but only the first 30 minutes is free, and two nearby hospitals, a grocery store and a pharmacy have chargers where an hour will get you 40 miles and cost a dollar or so.
For non Tesla people, Electrify America has recently built fast chargers at my local Target and a nearby Walmart. Tesla people could buy a Chademo adapter, and European Tesla people can buy a CCS adapter to use non-Tesla fast chargers. I charged my car at my Mom's house from a wall outlet when I was on vacation.
It's all about how creative a person wants to be. Definitely easiest to charge at home while you are sleeping, or at work.

Also, waterless wash doesn’t scratch your paint. Are you dropping the towel on the ground and picking up dirt? Don’t use a towel that’s been on the ground to wash your car. Lastly, you can easily just click the scroll wheel and say “turn on AC” or “set AC to lo” and it will do it all without you needing to do anything on the screen

Just a trait of the California English dialect lexicon... The up inflection is called a high rising terminal and has a number of pragmatic uses, including confirming that the interlocutor follows what is being said and indicating that the speaker has more to say. The word "like" is used as a discourse marker to allow time to formulate what to say next. All typical traits of the southern california 'valley girl' regional accent. Just like how New Englanders have their own unique accent of English, but that doesn't make anything 'wrong' about it.

It has now spread world-wide on the wings of trash TV and films. You said a pragmatic use was "confirming that the interlocutor follows what is being said and indicating that the speaker has more to say". However, I would suggest this shows a lack of confidence in the speaker, and from what I have read and seen reported in Global media, lack of confidence is not the American way.

Matthew Aniston True, the law of supply and demand also applies to the energy industry. Solar is not a reliable source of electricity. Wind kills birds like bird strikes on jet turbines. Hydroelectric is not enough. Hydrogen needs a mature infrastructure just like how fossil fuel has matured. Currently, the only source of energy that is enough to cover the energy demand, sustainable, is nuclear energy. Some sources do state that hydrogen can be extracted from nuclear waste; not sure how.
However, environmentalists are pretty much against nuclear energy.
As far as the vehicle itself, Tesla vehicles are just one of the options to achieve a better fuel efficiency compared to gas/ICE powered vehicles.

    • @danwat1234
      @danwat1234 4 роки тому

Matthew Aniston, Hydrogen is not the answer. All Hydrogen powered cars have an electric drivetrain with fuel cells to convert the hydrogen to electricity. It is way less efficient this way than a straight electric car. And there is no hydrogen infrastructure. It has no hope of catching up with the exponential increase in EV charging station installs.
The grid is cleaner to drive an EV is all 50 states than driving gas and is improving. www.forbes.com/sites/energyinnovation/2018/03/14/charging-an-electric-vehicle-is-far-cleaner-than-driving-on-gasoline-everywhere-in-america/#4320710b71f8

Outright stating that hydrogen has no hope is denying the advancement of technologies which is not good for any civilization at all. That type of thinking is a dangerous one.
As I have stated, hydrogen infrastructure needs to mature. Other countries are developing new ways to produce energy for vehicles and not being dependent on just fossil fuels and electricity (EV).

@@lxmedia3911 hydrogen is energy storage not production. Electric vehicles can be powered by any source. solid state batteries are right around the corner, hydrogen simply has very little hope of gaining traction in the consumer market. Hydrogen electric vehicles create another maintenance item, needing to replace air filters for the fuel cells.
Trucks, ships, planes, there Hydrogen have a place.
And yes it is cleaner to drive electric! after accounting for inefficiency in charging the batteries, the vehicle as a whole is over 80% efficient. then there is only about 5% energy loss in power transmission from generation to destination. www.eia.gov/tools/faqs/faq.php?id=105&t=3 Then it is up to the efficiency of the power generation.
Whereas gas cars are ~40% efficient at best (hybrid). And the diesel to transport the fuel and energy to convert crude to fuels.

You need a "fuel" or a means to produce electricity. Same is true for EV. Electricity does not magically appear. It needs to be produced.

@Shelby about the road rash, I also did it to my model 3 that I bought in December after two weeks of owning it. I was able to fix it for about $60 by using a Kit from amazon. It takes about an hour and it should look as good as new. Especially if you get a color that matches the wheels. And the kit can be used many times so it is worth the money. But of course I didn’t do it again because I am aware of the design flaw of the wheels at this point. And I also installed a 240v plug in my garage for about $70 plus $35 adapter for the model 3 charger. You will be able to top off the battery in about 4 to 5 hours. Best of luck
