Now, in terms of the actual driving and ownership experience…here’s the “Bad”
The first is with Super Charging.
Thankfully, I have yet to be in a situation where I’ve arrived at a Super Charger and it’s been entirely full. However, I’ve certainly been in situations where I’ve pulled up to a supercharger and taken the last spot…and then someone pulls up a few minutes later and has to sit there, waiting for 10-20 minutes waiting for something to open up.
Second, lets talk briefly about Range Anxiety.
This is the phenomenon where you worry about running out of a charge while driving, or wondering about whether or not you’ll have enough electricity to make it to your destination and back without running out.
And third…while we’re on the topic of super chargers…it definitely adds time to your trip.
The car will tell you that you’ll only have to supercharge for 10 or 20 minutes in order to give yourself enough battery to get to the next supercharger…but usually you never want to cut it that close, and the mileage the car tells you can be off by 5 or 10%.
Fourth: Entry
I’ve noticed that at completely random times, when I walk up to the car…it won’t open.
Fifth: Repair
It’s been decent the ONE TIME I’ve used it. They DID fix the car and they gave me a Model X P90D as a loaner car, which was REALLY nice. Plus, I’ve heard that Tesla will often will you a BETTER LOANER CAR than what you currently drive, just to give you a bonus “Tesla experience” and show you what you’re missing out on.
Sixth: Paying extra for Full Self Driving
I probably would’ve been a little upset had I paid $5000 for the full self driving option a year ago, and still not have been able to use it like initially advertised.
What I like:
First…Autopilot. It’s absolutely amazing.
After using it…I gotta say…the self driving feature is a better driver than 99% of people on the road. It keeps the car RIGHT in the middle of the lane, it’s avoided accidents from cars who have tried to merge into me, it keeps me going at the precise speed I set it to, and it makes the overall trip SO much more enjoyable.
Second, there’s absolutely something to be said about not having a gas powered engine.
That means I never need to stop at gas stations. I never need to worry about oil changes. Plus, electricity is WAY cheaper than gasoline, so it ends up saving me a ton of money.
Third: Tesla Car Insurance
Because Tesla understands how to fix their own cars, and fully understands their accident-avoidance capabilities…so they’ll insure it FOR YOU, for a fraction of the price.
Fourth: Ample Storage
It’s got a front trunk which is big enough for a small suitcase or a few bags of groceries. And then you have a massive back trunk…which turns into an even more massive trunk when you put down the back seats.
Fifth: The Tesla App
In here, you can set the car to begin heating before you even arrive…The app also allows you to lock or unlock your car remotely, anywhere in the world…Not to mention, for people like me who lose their car really, really easily because they forget where it’s parked…well, the app literally tells you where your car is located, and it’ll map you to its precise location.
Sixth: The center screen also turns into a TV in the event you want to watch UA-cam, Netflix, or Hulu…
And when it comes down to it, driving and owning a Tesla is very much an “experience,” Once you get it, it’s hard to look at cars the same way, ever again.

Imagine if when you ordered your Tesla, it drove itself (free of charge) to your location and called you by name.
The future awaits.
Just like the UCAV in movie " Stealth "
Tesla : note that
That’s probably what they’ll do when it can legally drive and can charge itself
You would just pay for the electricity
That would not work, the vehicle needs some charge to drive.
Graham: *spends $10,000 on something*

@@sddndsiduae4b-688 You seem to be confusing what the Tesla cameras can see & identify versus what the car displays on the screen. Just because its not displayed on the screen doesn't necessarily mean the car doesn't see it. Though just because the car can see it, that doesn't mean it will *currently* react beyond what it is currently advertised to do. There are boatloads of Tesla camera videos with the raw data overlay and its identifying pretty much everything in real time. That said, I had not seen the latest MobileEye tech - it looks pretty cool! Nice to see the competition for sure. Though I wouldn't say its much more impressive than "full self driving" demo videos Tesla has teased over the last year or two.

Would make a good Tesla poster boy.
Tesla customers have to make compromises with build quality, charging time, range, driving in cold, incredible expensive repairs for body damage parts and service wait times etc...but will sell the world on the fact the car is perfect.
@@practicalguy973 nothing is prefect in life that's what we have to expect that being said I don't think any car manufactured in the last 20 to 30 Years have had good quality yes tesla need to improve there game but I honestly think lots of the problems come from two to three things one promising dead lines two rapid increase in popularity and demand three lack of ability to meet demand
@@joeyknight8272 Agreed. Also to me vehicles in general are much more complicated now. Many with hundreds of computer modules/sensors and cheaper and cheaper manufacturing to jam it all in at a competitive price. Any vehicles I own now I always plan to sell after about 5 years when they will possibly become an electronic nightmare to own and service. I still think that certain companies service experiences are better than others and Tesla is behind based on the points you made and the fact they are a young company when it comes to car manufacturing and mistakes will be made. I think about TFL car with their Model 3 ua-cam.com/video/QlJ7lPdazyw/v-deo.html and something as simple as a fender bender costs over $10'000 to fix because of the way the car has been engineered. This was a very low speed mistake where they reversed into a garage and hit the edge of the door opening. The way it absorbs force mainly for safety, means that a small impact wrecks a lot of the car as seen in their video I posted. Money doesn't grow on trees so I can imagine insurance costs going up and up over the years and deductibles being used more often with this type of car when a large amount of the population are driving them. With my last car which was a 3 year old Kia at the time, a vehicle banged into it while I was parked and the trunk and bumper had damage. That was $400 to hammer the dent out and body filler/repaint it. So instead of using insurance and increasing my rates by using the deductible I just paid for it out of pocket. Those options are not feasible with a Tesla at the higher repair costs. Even if it were just the trunk on the Model 3 you can only bring it to very specific body shops and being aluminum you can not bang dents out. You got to buy new parts! Another thing that worries me with Tesla, specifically the Model 3 is the resale value. We see Audi, VW, Toyota, Hyundai and others competitors now focusing on EVs. These manufacturers are pushing to do charge times that will be like 80% charge in 10 minutes. So Tesla will have to follow. So what will that mean for anyone with a slow charging 1st generation Model 3. I'll say that for me it would drop its value a lot when I can look at the next generation that keeps me away from supercharging for an hour on a long trip. Its not like an ICE car with fuel specs and the pump are always the same. It will be interesting to see how these Model 3's age.

if you look at and think about the rate of their scaling you start to understand the finish issues they have and its really surprising that it isnt worse. it is rapidly improving though they just need to do more in the way of repair centers and costumer service.
Tesla Cybertruck: Literally does not include paint
You can have the regular paint for only an additional $10,000 or the sport paint for $20,000 extra.
Why would you ‘put up with’ serious paint defects, that ultimately protect the car from the elements? It’s brand new for goodness sake.
He said they buffed out. except the thin under part. I'm sure it has a seal coat.
All new cars. All new cars have paint defects. They are often corrected at the dealer. Teslas paint quality is not up to par with other $40,000 cars. It is more Subaru quality although the Tesla paint is thicker and the rust protection is far better than Subaru.

Buy stock not car.
If you have an Android phone turn off "battery optimization" for the Tesla app and your phone key will work flawlessly.
"but then i got another BRAND NEW PHONE"
me: bruh
well I mean a lot of apps purposely make them "optimized" for new phones. So if your phone is 2 years old it will be slow and 4 years forget about it. I cant vouch for the Tesla app, but I could only imagine they do close tot the same thing
I always carry my 20000 mah battery charger just in case i run out of juice for my tesla 😂

Teslas have advantages disadvantages. They have less maintenance than an ICE car, but they are NOT zero maintenance, as the Rich Rebuilds channel makes clear. Electricity is cheaper (for now) than gas, but you pay more for a Tesla. It would take a LOT of driving to make up the difference. ICE manufacturers have better QC--fit, finish, etc. They also have electronic features that are pretty much a match for Teslas.
4:30 - unpainted sections of a car is NOT acceptable. Especially for a "luxury" brand like Tesla.
7:00 - A Tesla is completely impractical throughout the midwest due to the lack of chargers AND the weather.
9:37 - Another bundle of build quality issues ranging from the interior plastics and leather used, panel gaps, and etc.
11:15 - Self-driving is the only pro of buying a Tesla. Sad to see it's still not fully rolled out
Have you looked at the supercharger map lmfao it's not bad
I’m a new youtuber and your channel is such an inspiration to the rest of us! Keep on keep’n on!
thanks!!
The next car I buy will be a Tesla, but I'm going to have to wait another 3 years so I get the full value from my current car.
The black matte wrap is the sickest look for Tesla. MKHD has the P100D black wrapped and Graham's got the Model 3. Both are incredibly dope cars. In my opinion, the ultra performance P100D is THE best car on the market today for the overall performance and value.
Graham's financial minimalism is speaking to my student poverty...
Until he flexes his Tesla and I cry in my 40ct pasta dinner
Make sure you smash out your goals though! I think there is a lot to be taken from people who have achieved this kind of success, and we film videos on our channel to talk to supercar owners and how they achieve their goals.
Your 40 cent pasta dinner will be a thing of the past once you smash out some goals!

"charging can be annoying"
"I don't have to stop at gas stations"
Do you even listen to yourself?
I think he means that about 99% of the time during day to day life he never has to stop at gas stations like everyone else and just plugs in his car at home, which saves a lot of time. But during long trips, that's when you spend extra time waiting at a charger that you may not have to if you drive a gas powered car. Maybe learn to understand more complicated, nuanced opinions.
Christopher Heinz 👏🏼 👏🏼 👏🏼
I can't recall him saying that. Maybe he got it out? In any event I wouldn't say that this guy gives the impression of being nuanced any way whatsoever. His high-paced, high-pitched nasally jump cut editing style leaves me with the impression of being raped by a car salesman.
My car easily does 600 miles between refueling, so with my driving i need to stop twice in a month to fill it up, that is max 10 minutes, but in reality less, as i pay with a card, at the pump.
There are literally thousands of petrol stations so i dont have to stop before the tank is almost empty.
With my driving pattern i would certainly have to stop multiple times a month at chargers so for me a combustion engine is way faster to get me from A to B
John Doe just charge at home
Tesla sure has a methodology a nickle and dime approach to get all the options that make it a more practical vehicle. This may not seem like a lot to you but for all us non-millionaires (I not throwing shade because you deserve it for all the hard work you have put in) but those "extras" are significant at my pay grade. I really like the cars but probably better off using one as a commuter car inside the city. BTW: the only way you are saving on gas is if you were already going to pay for a car in that price range. Otherwise, it's going to take a long time for the cheap electricity to make up for the difference in purchase price. Anyway, I hit "like" and enjoyed your review.

I have to admit Graham. I've been watching you for a long time thinking I already subbed. Well after another look I'm now a new subscriber.
Excellent video! The long range 3 also charges faster than the standard 3. You can charge 200 miles in under 20 min if you arrive with between 20 to 60 miles of range on the long range 3 when using the stage 2 150 kw Supercharger. The 250kw charger will be 40% faster.

And that’s why the Cybertruck is unpainted stainless. Paint shop eff-ups aren’t an issue when the truck doesn’t require paint!
Yeah, only a problem if the cybertruck gets any kind of damage that will be a huge pain to fix
And that's why instead of fixing the problems with the current models, they just dive into another crappy quality and people will say they love their tesla just because is electric :)
The guy who programmed the paint robot must not be a perfectionist, lol
Great show as always. Thank you Graham. Just a few observations/questions. In your previous Tesla clip (the one you made on the day you took delivery), you mentioned that the door "seemed" to be a problem. I thought that you might touch on that aspect after having been back to them with that paint issue you had to check whether it WAS just your car, or others as well. Second: I did not see a spare wheel in either the front trunk nor the rear trunk, even when you lifted the storage lid. That struck me as being a bit strange! Third: I like that you could play videos whilst waiting for your super-charge slot, but not sure by how much that life that would drain your battery, as well as that nifty gimmick of either warming up, or cooling down your interior prior to entering. That said, thank you once again for a great set of quality videos. I am a retiree, but am forwarding all of your most pertinent clips to my two 30 years old children for educational purposes. I was never taught any of these life-skills at school. Much appreciated.

One of the most honest reviews out there. Thanks! Had my Model 3 for 13 months and 21,000 miles. Absolutely love it! And I 100% agree on the White Interior. It was a must for me so I got it. Since it's vegan leather, the dye from my black denim came out easily and my seats look brand new every time I clean them.

Kinda late to the party here, but I would *really* appreciate a video of your experience with your vehicle/Tesla AFTER your warranty expires. Yeah, it'll be a while until that video comes out, but this is something that, as I understand it, is a problem with some Tesla owners.
Thanks for the review. You're the first owner I've heard who advised not getting the enhanced auto pilot. I think you may have saved me some money.

Jacob Z he paid $41 then he had to pay tags and tax. Tax and tags in California is over $3k
@@coldcoilinc still not $50k. He got his while there was a federal tax credit and California offers tax credits for EV purchases. So he likely paid less than $40k total.
@n s I think he said he got the $35k version, which Tesla doesn't even have on their website anymore. They were trying to make a very affordable Tesla, so they made it a lot less luxury
Graham keep the Tesla app open at all times I had the same issue with the doors not opening too. Always have the app open and it will always open!
Good to know!
The thing about superchargers is it's only an issue in Los Angeles. L.A. has more Tesla's than any other U.S city, and to make matters worse there are far less superchargers in L.A. as there are in lets say Austin, TX.
Lol thats a sad story bruh
yeah my county in Oregon, RIGHT next to Portland has over 100,000 residents but guess what? 0 charging stations smh. IDEK how Elon can mess up that bad. Nobody in my county owns a Tesla, people are buying hybrids like crazy instead. But I guess that's Elons loss, we will stick to our cheaper gas, usually 50 cents to a dollar cheaper than Portland
Amen to Range Anxiety. I suffer with high anxiety to begin with, so adding something like “will I get to my destination without getting stranded” to the mix would drive me insane. My cousin leased a Leaf for a few years, and hers ran out of juice on her way home one day stranding her on the side of a major metropolitan freeway after dark. That’s not a place a female wants to be alone. No, until the electric car market explodes and there are chargers everywhere you look, I’ll stick with my gas guzzling Ford Explorer thank you.
Damn, I want Tesla even with all the negatives, it makes caring about our planet very easy
70% of all electeicity is generated from burning coal or natural gas.

We'll get there one day. We have to solve the problem of provising clean energy at night and when wind and water flows are slow.
Some say nuclear or geo thermal power could reaolve this problem.
Nuclear fuel accidents however are horrible catasteophic events.
@@lakorai2
Avg. Efficiency of an ICE car is ~ 15%
Avg. Efficiency of a coal power station (one of the least efficient forms of energy generation) is ~ 35%. It only gets higher from there.
This is ignoring that fuel needs drilling, refining and transporting.
Jury is in and it's better.
Nuclear is safer in deaths per kWh generated than any other that relies on boiling/heating water to drive turbines.
There have been a few accidents with horrifying consequences, however the main ones that come to mind were caused by known faults (Chernobyl - RBMK 1000 - KGB hid faulty design which caused failure, Fukushima - Government advised TEPCO of faults many times before, TMI - Computer system was designed incorrectly and didn't report status of valves.)
Nuclear power is not some kind of demon. There have been fewer deaths caused by it and it gets safer every year, ignoring any changes in reactor type (e.g Uranium > Thorium).
Sit down, shut up, look at the facts.

1. Look up how to pay taxes on dividends.
2. As long as you don't sell at a profit, you don't pay taxes on the stocks you own, they are considered property.
3. Don't put anything you're not willing to lose in anything other than safe things like an index fund. If it's all in index fund and you lose it, we have bigger problems.
I like mutual funds better, I opened an account with vanguard and love it
One thing everybody forgets to mention is the cost of tires and rims if you damage one. Four tires are over $1,200 from Tesla. Some auto shops you can get a set of four for 800. My understanding is not as high mileage as other tires you can get. One of the other sites talks about his windshield getting cracked and it still cost him around $1,000. He had $1,000 deductible on his Tesla insurance. My insurance company would replace the glass for free. As expensive as these cars are you shouldn't have to have to worry about all these minor defects. It really makes you wonder how well they hold up at 200 or 300 thousand miles. Technologically they are tremendous. I've driven one. There's nothing on the market like it. But they owe their consumers better quality. Also Consumer Reports has just recently pulled their their recommendation because of all the problems owners have when I take delivery. There's no excuse for bad paint jobs or doors you have problems opening. I was going to buy one but now I'm rethinking it. Great car however. but I don't want to have to be dealing with but I don't want to have to be dealing with but I don't want to have to be dealing with the repair but I don't want to have to be dealing with having it serviced all the time four things that Should be perfect on delivery.

"The App allows you to warm up your car on cold mornings..... in LA."
You gotta be soft to think LA is cold
Thought the same thing... Although, as someone who would like to own a Tesla someday in New England I wonder how bad it would be up here. Californians consider 60 degrees "cold".
@@motomitch Actually, I live in Pismo which is about 150 miles North of LA and it FEELS colder here when it gets "cold." when its 38F in Utah you wear a hoodie cuz it doesnt feel cold, but in southern california, it feels WAY colder than 52F. I make fun of it cut ppl hate on me for wearing a parka and a beanie when its 49F.
you cant be serious. have you even BEEN to calif.? there are MANY area of Calif. that get very cold.
I live in Utah, paint job on my car was great, warms up in 10 degree weather in about 3-5 minutes, 30 degree weather in less than that...
I pay $11 per month for insurance on my Volvo 244. I repainted it myself w/ house paint (literally the same exact paint that's on my house, so I had it anyway). the windows and door locks are manual, so no issues there. it doesn't have a computer, and it was built with maintenance via normal tools in mind, so I can easily fix everything myself. the only thing I've ever had a shop do was press a few bushings and mount and balance tires.
I've done a few things to it to improve fuel economy, like disable the power steering (which it doesn't need, because it's not a heavy vehicle), and add vortex generators in key locations. together these improved my fuel economy by about 20%. considering it's still running an early redblock that means it's only getting about 22mpg on slightly hilly city streets now, but considering how easy they were to do to the car, and the fact that that brings it up to a fuel economy comparable to the '99 Ford that it replaced (the Volvo's a '79) that's a huge improvement.
oh yeah, and I can't lose my car in a parking lot because nothing looks like it thanks to 1) the fact that it's 41 years old, and 2) it has a custom 2-tone paint job (the lower half is still the original paint, the top was all weathered away which is why I painted it) and big vortex generators sticking out of the roof.
