Zack Smith the insurance is like the other car. I paid 750$ for full coverage for 6 months or 450$ for liability for 6 months. I have no idea how the filter cost to replace. But since I own this car for 11 months and 12 days, I haven’t have spend on any maintenance yet.

I’m 21 years old, and was in a car a major car accident. I was blessed to be able to use some of my settlement to purchase a model 3 performance. I was never a car enthusiast before, but I now can’t tell enough people how amazing this car is! With the car’s engine/battery pack being underneath the car, it’s by far the best car for those crazy canyon drives! It’s mind blowing that people would pay the same amount of money for a maxed out BMW M3 that only gets worse over time and requires a lot of $ maintenance after two years.

I bought Tesla model 3 last year. Love the car, the ride, the speed, the free software updates, home charging. No other car can compare with Tesla regarding extended range (325 miles for now), vast supercharging network recharges in about 15-30 minutes. No engine, no radiator, no transmission, and virtually no maintenance! Years ahead of every other EV, supercharging stations are awesome as well. My final cost after tax credit was $41,000. And with no maintenance costs, no fuel costs (electricity is much cheaper). And don’t forget free software updates keeps your older Tesla just like a new Tesla with the latest updates downloaded while you sleep.

You're right that us older guys have a harder time with big changes. But that doesn't mean that there aren't real issues still to be resolved with the move to EVs. I recently estimated my refueling speed after stopping for gas, using the same metric as EVs: mph. I came up with 9000. Nine-thousand miles per hour refueling speed. (12 gallons in 2 minutes, using a conservative estimate of 25 miles per gallon.) My vehicle's range is about 450 miles.
Right now, I see EVs as a good solution for commuting and other short drives. Road trips? Not just yet. The infrastructure needs to mature too, not just charging speed and range. Costs are also out of reach for many people. Those need to be reined in. (As the used marketplace for EVs grows, their cost of entry may improve on average.)

@@joesterling4299 infustructure outside Tesla does need a lot of work. Teslas network is pretty robust and many have done cross country trips quite frequently with little to no issues. And even though gas does pump faster think how long it takes to pump use the restroom order food drinks and pay at the register. Sure if youre working and constsntly traveling 1000+ miles a week it can be hectic. But for over 99% of Americans Teslas network and recharge speed is just fine. 20-30minutes and a charger minimum of 150 miles in almost any direction in the states off the freeway. NHTSA stated 99% of drivers drive less than a average of 50 miles a day. And also remember it could be debated on a normal day theres less waiting for charging cause it takes you no longer than 10 seconds to plug in and unplug at home and wake upto a completely full battery everyday.
I personally had more anxiety in a gas car going fk overslept... fk pumps busy.... fk credit card machine is broken... dam zip code... no i dont want a car wash... crap my client is waiting... shit the line is long.... and getting my hands smelling like gas and breathing in poisonous fumes

Yes... all of these things. Other things I love:
    1.) Fast AF...
    2) AT HOME REPAIRS! Tesla will schedule an appointment and send a guy in a Tesla full of tools to your house.
    3) I think it looks kinda like a porsche too
    4) the glass roof is super cool -
    5) kick ass warranty
    6) it is fast AF - SO FUN TO DRIVE!
    7) super comfy.
    8) it remembers where my seat is because I opened the door (and my wife's when she opens the door), always feels like magic.
and what is quickly becoming my favorite feature - Autopilot! is so good, and gets an update almost every month or so making it better and better. The amount of stress that I'm removing when getting stuck in LA traffic is probably extending my life, and improving my health.
Also my kids love it, it is fun to show off to friends and family. There was really nothing else I could convince myself to by except and EV, and after researching the F out of everything else (I think the Hyundai Kona and Kia Niro options are probably better than the Bolt or Leaf tho) that I would consider living with for 5-10 years. I really want a Model Y too now... But I have a friend who wanted and EV and went with the i3 as he got a used one for $18k, and another friend who got a VW eGolf for $26k, before getting $10 in rebates. So.. the point is EVs are here. There are pros and cons, but my M3 SR+ is the coolest thing I've ever owned, already took one trip from LA to LV, and doing a family trip from SF to SF for the holidays, and can't wait. and my only regret is I wish I would have done is sooner and go rid of the POS I was driving before.

Shelby great review! - I bought a 2017 Chevy Bolt Premier several months ago for 18k with 35k miles on it in SoCal for a commuter car as my drive is about 90 miles round trip. I think it was a great purchase vs Model 3. It's not as nice looking but range and some tech features are pretty good for the price. My only complaint are the seats. I also tend to get around 270 miles range in the Bolt. I also have a Mercedes C43 AMG for the weekends and long trips. It was either the AMG/Bolt or Model 3 performance. A++ review of Model 3

A fully-optioned Model 3 Performance in California, after taxes+fees, and without subtracting tax incentives, does indeed approach 80k. So the price of a Model 3 varies very widely, depending on how you configure it.
EVs tend to cost more than ICE cars, but they're cheaper to operate. Driving an EV to work, I spend about $250/month less than driving my gas car. If I keep my Model 3 for 10 years, at current interest rates, that $250/month has an immediate cash value of about $24,000. And that's not considering the lower maintenance costs of an EV.

Nice informative video. There are no real competitors to the Model 3 at this time. If you are shopping for an entry level EV that can replace your ICE car completely than the Model 3 is the only real option. It has the best charging infrastructure, over the air updates, more power, and better efficiency than its competitors. Even the base model RWDs are rockets and a software update is on the way to give all Model 3's even more power. Its a superior product.

    • @trexinvert
      @trexinvert 4 роки тому

For a used Tesla "assume" the pack is used up which = $7,000 replacement cost. Thus, the true selling price should lose it's value by that much at very least. The mileage and age is not a direct factor for battery wear. Battery wear is function of how many charges and charging current(trickle/slow charge=good, fast charge=bad). If you buy a used electric, unless you are an electrician and can measure the battery pack IR(internal resistance under load of each cell) you better assume you will be paying for a replacement. A used tesla 3 is "over-valued" due to demand, and as Shelby mentions it you want to go cheap buy something else.
