My favorite razor would probably be the PAA Copper Ascension DOC. Although I’m really enjoying the Parker Injector now that I found good blades for it.
My current favourite is the Yaqi Mellon. It's a double open comb, very much on the mild side, but quite efficient. I also got the Yaqi Top Aggressive Slant, which is a doc too, but like on the other side of the spectrum. Both are fascinating, unique razors. The Ytas tought me many lessons about technique because one wrong move or a bit too much pressure and there will be blood (but boy, does this one shave you close...) The Mellon is a great leisure shaver if you got some time to spend.
I am really liking the Occam’s Razor from Classic Shaving. I have 2 different baseplates for it. I have been eyeing up the PAA razors though since they seem pretty neat.
Yaqi is well known for double open comb razors. One of their heads is called Mellon after the inventor of the head, however, I find it to be a bit aggressive. I wouldn't be surprised if Yaqi was making these razors for the PAA.
Great video Greg. Fasturbating is a new one to me, but after the shave I’ve just had I’m currently doing it! Favourite razor as it stands is a prototype that I’m testing out, but seen as it isn’t fully fledged, I’m going to have to say the Rockwell 6S. Have a good week buddy.
Thanks for coming by. Excited to hear about the prototype, sounds like it might work amazingly haha. I have been interested in the baseplate swapping that Rockwell offers with those types of razors, but I know I would lose them almost immediately haha
Is there an attatchement you can place on a safety razor so it dosent cut to deep into the skin?, my beard is curly but I still get some razor bumps with it
Not 100% sure on this. I would check your lather, shave direction, angle of your head, blade, and make sure you aren’t putting any additional pressure on the razor to your face
Have 5 razors currently and my Mercur Futur is my favorite. Interestingly my PAA DOC is my least favorite. Cool looking and I get a pretty good shave but it is just not comfortable to use. The combs are too sharp.
Same with you mate,i have the Ascension twist and I loved the feel, but I kept getting ingrown hairs and I had to pluck them out after shaving. And have since stopped using it.
Heck yeah. Nice soundtrack, nice video. I find the idea of being so very concerned about the amount of stuff I pack fascinating. Is bringing a regular safety razor such a huge impossibility that I really need one that breaks down into small segments? Heck no. But heck yeah it is fun to assemble and adds to the ritual of the hobby. Thanks for the show!
Sorry dude but PAA double open comb razors might work OK but they are not at all comfortable as the tines are sharp. Karve open comb razors are much better.
After watching it again. I think I overused pretty neat. Which is, pretty neat!
Mr greg just thinking to get into the hobby i want something with a case and a decent price not too much more than 50 as im young and broke
@@KingFroglet merkur 23c, Parker 90R/99R/etc, or a weishi razor

I still need to try an injector
Simple, sweet and great background music! Thanks for the great video and the info about double open comb safety razors

Love my PAA Copper DOC. Amazing razor!
I have the SLOC and PAA Ascension and they are a true Joy to shave with
Just picked up the new ascension select and that’s a great shave too

That’s a pretty clever name for a single edge razor. Looks pretty solid too
Nice one, Greg! Who doesn't love a classic design?
Thanks! Hard to say but a lot of companies try to improve on the classic design haha
Rockwell T2 I would say is my favorite safety razor
Awesome!!
Thanks Greg
I would have a hard time choosing between my two favorites. Yates 921 and Henson aluminum. I appreciate your vids. Good work.
I gotta check out a Henson. Also, haven’t tried a Yates. But have a few people recommending the Henson.

Oh interesting! That’s a great thought. Thanks
nice lamp
It’s pretty lit
Hands down my Henson Ti-22 mild.
Current favorite razor is my Stirling ST. I just had my Fatboy replated, though, so it could be a battle.
That's a good looking razor to be honest. What handle do you have for it?
@@GregTardif the Austin. I'm looking to pick up something a bit shorter, though.
Hi John here waiting on a rare grand shave king double edge razor very rare
I have 3 favorites. I use a Leaf on my head, and either the Thorn or Muhle R103 w/an R41 head on my face.
Been meaning to try a leaf soon
@@GregTardif The regular Leaf is amazing for head shaves. Could be good for the face, doesn't get under the nose very easily.
Thanks Stan! Luckily I have a mustache right now haha
@@GregTardif Me, too! I've been rocking a Frank Zappa thing, mustache and soul patch combo. 🤣
@@stanley1976 nice!!!!
My favourite razor is the Thorn (the more efficient sibling of the Leaf Twig).
Nice
Next to myself, I like my Blackland Blackbird best.
Sweet! Heard nothing but awesome things
Henson AL13 (mild) in purple even though it has more than twice the weight (37g) of my Dovo Shavette (15g).
Hey Greg nice work on the video quality and editing if you want to share what you’re using I would appreciate it
Thanks! I use a Sony A7C and I edit on my iPad Air with Lumafusion
Thanks man the videos are looking great
@@araps I appreciate it. I tried shooting the intro sequence like a sniper assembling their rifle
The best is whatever works for you, whether it be open comb, closed comb, Straight Razor, DE, or Cart…

The rex ambassador is my favorite razor
Nice! I’ve heard great things about their razors
Merkur futur in gold, on setting 6 with a feather blade.
Woooo! You’re living dangerously lol! Glad you like it
1. Rex Ambassador
2. Henson
3. Merkur 38c

Hensons AL13 is amazing. I've tried other double edge safety razors incling the king c but was never able to get the technique down.

We are bizarro twins! I hadn’t noticed the comb being sharp…maybe a QC thing? (Also, I do not like the Futur, I am going to give it another try)
