Saw Booby Keys and the Rolling Stones in Chicago a few months before he passed on their 50 tour, it was awesome, had tickets to the right of the stage where he played.
So sorry to hear Bobby passed away on December 2, 2014. Bobby, thanks for so many wonderful years of playing that magnificent tenor Sax for us...Can’t You Hear Me Knockin, Bitch, All Down The Line, Brown Sugar, Sweet Virginia, I Got The Blues, Between a Rock And A Hard Place, and so many others... More than anyone else on stage, you we’re, first the sixth, later the fifth Rolling Stone..RIP(This Joint)...
Don't forget his work outside of the Stones including some of the best sax work ever on John Lennons Whatever Gets You Through The Night. Great player and the guy was funny as hell. A crazy dude!
i am 70 and just see him standing there and that he'll be dead in 1 year so sad.....i always loved the way i saw him play in so many top bands...R.I.P.
The perfect sideman and his Sax sounded so good on many Stones Classics. And he partied with Keith Richards on tour and survived to talk about it. Not an easy feat. RIP Bobby Keyes
Dan Baird would monitor Bobby's colour as he played the Sax and whenever he got too red, Bobby was done. He insisted even when concert organizers insisted. True friendship.
Great to see Bobby Keys playing last year, and you recorded it...good band too. That is cool, so cool. You can see he's happy. He was one cool dude. Major Sax player in Rock & Roll History, and he really never took the limelight. I've always said, Jagger, Keith, Charlie, Ron, Mick, Brian, Billy, and Bobby Keys on Sax. Those guys, are the Rolling Stones. (I missed a couple of great keyboard players along the way, sorry - I'll think of them later).
Nicky, Billy, and Stu - I think you mean (keyboards/pianos) I'm not a big Sax fan at all, but you dont have to be to appreciate his talent. I don't like Jazz either, but I dig Miles for sure. Thats what Bobby was. He was Miles Davis of the goddamn sax. And so distinctively rich whatever band he pops up with. He rocked it, he defined it, and with a surprising humility. And for the Stones, '71 to this past year, thats, what must that be like? With the exception of '81 series, when has he not been there? 40+ years and now... A vacant spot on the stage, an ever widening hole in the Rock n Roll tapestry, theres no point in trying to fill. I'm too young to remember the other departures, and didnt think much of Bills departure but now I hear it. The sound of Bill's bass driving along like a slow train rounded out by Nicky's Keyboard and then Bobby, and you realize its a not a missing ingedient its a whole course meal ripped out of that familiar sound. Fucking hell its depressing... Charlie, you hang in there God Dammit!!
My favorite Bobby Keys story is the time he and Keith Richards stole the touring physician’s medical bag and we’re discovered sitting on the bathroom floor doing the whole Cheech and Chong bit….”I wonder what this one does? No, don’t tell me! I want it to be a surprise”. What a couple of knuckleheads.

Bobby is THE best rock 'n' roll sax player.
I don’t know anyone that didn’t love Bobby. He used to dance with his sax on stage. Loved him with Joe Cockers Mad Dog tour as well.
Mister Bobby era el mejor con el saxofón, ninguno mejor.
Descansa en paz con el Espíritu Santo

You forgot to say Fun Fact! They bonded over that fact and that they both partied hard.
