  • Tragedy to Truimph! Hear how Victor overcame Post-traumatic stress (PTSD), suicidal thoughts, and porn. Difficulty turned positive as they started a ministry called All Things Possible for overcoming trauma for military, civilians and even those in the Middle East with children affected by ISIS.
    From Part 1:
    Watch on ParentCompass.TV/TV-show.
Abused and left for dead at the age of five, Victor Marx’s young life was marked by trauma, rejection and unimaginable pain. He escaped his dysfunctional home life and joined the US Marine Corps where years of anger and rage was turned towards the Arab people. Years later, post-traumatic stress and the suppressed issues that stemmed from his childhood caused him to nearly take his own life.
Tragedy turned into triumph when, as a young Marine, Victor was healed from his past through faith in Jesus Christ. After he shared his testimony with a group of incarcerated youth in 2002, Victor and his wife, Eileen, founded All Things Possible Ministries, a faith-based organization that works on a global scale to free children from abuse and the effects of trauma.
Victor’s life story was chronicled in his documentary film and book, The Victor Marx Story. He also launched an online ministry through UA-cam and Facebook. His videos, including World’s Fastest Gun Disarm, have more than 100M combined views throughout social media. As a humanitarian, speaker, renowned martial arts expert, and child/youth advocate, Victor speaks throughout the U.S. and around the world, providing inspiration and encouragement to widely-diverse audiences. Known as high-risk missionaries because of their work in sensitive areas, Victor and Eileen serve veterans and military personnel, women and children in the Middle East who have encountered debilitating trauma, and promote healthy, Christ-filled marriages and families.

Thanks for your service, Victor. What help can you offer secular people who are going through tough times?

Caster, Thank you for your comment. I will send it along to Victor. I know that God has created you and loves you and wants to reach out to you in the midst of any circumstance. Even though you are secular many, many Christians start out that way, but there is a rest and peace and love beyond understanding in Christ allowing overcoming of circumstances that are impossible. In my own story my mother was divorced when I was two, remarried when I was 4. There was yelling and screaming and it was miserable. I know it is not at all the worst people have, but it was miserable. Yet at age 10, I read Egermeier's storybook Bible that is true to the Bible and chronological. I understood I was a sinner. (The Bible says, All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.) I understood Jesus as Savior.
“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 6:23)
“But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8)
At age 10 without anyone explaining anything to me I asked Christ to come into my heart and forgive my sins. For me, what happened next was overwhelming - Love, peace and joy poured into my heart. It was unbelievable. The next morning as I thought about it, a physical warmth passed from the top of my head to my toes. That had not happened before or since. But I know that God is real and Christ is real. I am now 60 that happened when I was 10. For the rest of my life, I have called out to God and He guides me.
Many, many secular skeptics or analytical people even ones that set out to prove that Christ is not real, come to know and believe in Him and then spend the rest of their life telling others about Him!
Case for Christ by Lee Strobel is one - it is a book and they made a movie from his story. More than a Carpenter (or Evidence that demands a verdict) by Josh McDowell is another. CS Lewis who wrote Narnia and the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe is another. He has a chapter in his book called Mere Christianity where he says no one denies Jesus lived on earth. Jesus said that He is the Son of God and came to die for the sins of the world so we have to decide, is He a liar, lunatic (crazy) or Lord and Savior? To say He was just a good man doesn't work because Christ said He was Savior who came to die for you.
Once we understand our need for a savior and recognize that Jesus Christ is that savior, we can respond by calling out to Jesus.
“If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.” (Romans 10:9-10)
This response is possible for everyone. Romans 10:13 expresses God’s ability to save everyone. (His intention to save everyone is further expressed in John 3:16-17) For God so loved the world, He gave His only begotten Son that whoever believes in Him would not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16
So in answer to your question for someone secular I would say call out to Jesus even if you have to say Jesus if you are real and then make your request or prayer. Seek God and you will find him and He will guide you.Ask him for guidance. One verse that helps me to pray is "Take all my thoughts and make them obedient to Christ."

Parent Compass , my question wasn’t “how does one become a Christian.” Your Bible quotes don’t carry weight with a secular person .

I think my son has PTSD from prison. He has been in and out for 20 years. He drinks alcohol and drugs. He hates to even go into a store.
