Are we really surprised that modern feminists are offended by this?
Nope.
I am a modern feminist, and I don't feel offended by what he says, as I really really don't care about a male athlete's opinion on womanhood. I hope this doesn't sound to arrogant and you don't get offended 😊😂. However, he is beyond creepy, and his cry made me cringe.
@@Catoo. 😆
@@Catoo. A modern feminist 😂😂. What is a woman? 😂😂😂
@@anthonycortez4569 yeah that’s what I want to know. I think they are anti-family
Love Amber. I went to a catholic grad school and had my early education done at a Catholic school. I found nothing he said offensive at a woman
I’m Catholic as well. I found offense in what he said. His beliefs on how he believes women should be, what they should prioritize pursuing, along with his views of abortion and Biden were completely inappropriate to express during a commencement speech to new grads. None of that had to do with graduation as he was merely projecting his opinions onto the female graduates. In what world should a male who will never know the female experience and be capable of bearing children along with thr associated dangers preach to women about abortion? This was not his sermon and yet he treated it like one
Really? You didn`t find it offensive that he tells women that the most important thing in their life is to be a mother and actually their life doesn`t really start until they are a mother and he didn`t tell the men that being a father is the most important thing in their life and their life doesn`t really start until they are a father , even so he is a man and it would make more sense for him to speak to the men? Nobody would have bat an eye when he would have talked about how being a father is the most important thing for him, but he only told the women that for them being a mother is more important than their professional life and he did that at a college graduation.
@@anthill1510He didn't say it that way. Listen again. He spoke about his wife
@@anthill1510oh please. The truth shouldn’t give you the vapors. Get over yourself
@@SupernaturalLove100It was the most inanely inappropriate speech for the occasion he was called to address. He is a 28 year old jock. Self proclaimed Catholic. (not a theology student, he studied Engineering) Not qualified to give a sermon and a bigoted one at that! Catholic or not its a COLLEGE, that accepts female students and their money. If the college condoned his views (and they don't) they are hypocrites.
Family first? Of course, but a mother doesn't need a football player to explain this. His fake choking up was priceless. I call BS.
What bothers me are people lying about what he said, saying his comments were degrading to women which says lot more about their views of homemakers, wives, & mothers then his
I have a sneaky suspicion that HIS LIFE, started the day he was born. 🙃
@aprilwashington2130 again, you’re taking his words out of context. He said “my wife would say….her life started” it’s a saying that people say to exclaim an important life event that changed the course of their passions. You know that. Why ate you acting like he said women’s lives don’t start until they have a baby. That’s not what he said. He’s saying wife is passionate about her vocation and getting choked up about how much that has helped him. And people like you have to twist and turn it
The media didn’t expect for anybody to actually listen to the speech, so they set the frame. It is there diabolical lies that led to this disaster.
Bingo.

I'm a bit of a degenerate myself but there ain't nothing wrong with a guy having religious beliefs. More power to him.

@@solarski2004 how can you engange in non abusive religious indoctrination lol
It's so lame how people, typically conservative, will wrap their own PERSONAL beliefs in false dogma. Dude thinks women should be barefoot and pregnant at home so that men can lead full lives. That ain't got nothing to do with what's in the Bible, especially considering that his well-educated, high-earning mother and father worked to put him through private school. THAT is what led to Harrison Butker to his football career, not his wife being a homemaker.

Butker (?) is the new Colin Kaepernick.
I don’t understand the outrage here. He is proud of the way his wife and him had a family??? Ok? Having a kid changed my life as a man too, for the better, so I understand what he’s saying. And it’s his beliefs. He never said women shouldn’t work or do anything outside the household.
What if his wife change her mind. Will he be ok with that
@@haroldbrown893 That is not exactly a gotcha question. You enter into a marriage with certain agreements. If one person unilaterally changes one of those agreements then anybody would have a problem with it. If they discuss this change beforehand however it goes, it goes. Remember, he is able to have whatever requirements as he want's for a wife. As is his wife free to set her own requirements.
No matter how that situation goes there is no direct blame on him from this. The objectors just have no leg to stand on.

Heading did our hospital wife's way of life above everyone elses. He at least insinuated women were being lied to for wanting other things. Listen to his words!
Right. So why didn`t he tell his fellow men that the most important job in their life is to be a father and that their life will only really start once they become fathers? He only told the women how important it is to be mothers and that`s the problem.
He is referring to the conservative religious beliefs that the woman belongs in the home and only the home. He didn`t outright say it, but everybody there get`s the message.
Edit: He did outright say it:
He told the women to be "homemakers". That`s a word used to describe a woman in a conservative christian household who gives the right to make decisions over her life to her husband, "the head of the household" and only ever is a housewife and mother.
Women who decide to stay at home whith their kids, but have equal decision making rights in their marriage are called "stay-at-home-mums". They also often work part time or go back to work when the kids are older.
He and everybody in this audiece knows exactly what the term "homemaker" refers to and implies.
Yep, it's Handmaid's Tale stuff.
As has been pointed out, his mother is an eminent scientist. Perhaps, psychologically, therein lies the problem.
They are entitled to disagree with him but they aren't entitled to Doxx him and try to get him fired. Butker did this on HIS OWN TIME at a Catholic School...Kaepernick pushed his agenda while he was at work. Big difference Jessica

I'm a Catholic educated homemaker. It's nice to hear something positive about my choice. ❤
C.S. Lewis had a wonderful quote (don't remember the exact words) that basically said that the homemaker is the ultimate career around which all other careers revolve.
You're doing a great thing for the world and your family. I'm so glad the girl on the show stood up for the faith and cleared up what the Pope said
@@JohnDoe-ne1ni I wish they would speak about what truly happened to Pope Benedict in 2010-2011. How he was forced out, to voluntariy 'retire', becasue he was trying to enforce existing usary laws to ALL Catholica and All Christians around thd world. That would ruin the entire feudal predetory monetary system we have right now. The irony of that is if Butker and his employer practiced the Catholic Usary laws, he would only make about $30 to$40000 per year.
Exactly! The diabolical lie Harrison was talking about is that women are taught today that being a homemaker is lazy, shameful and taking the easy way out. That is certainly a diabolical lie! Right wing lunacy
Anyone who disagrees with you can’t see the forest through the trees. Raising children impacts society in so many ways. There is no more important role than mother and father.
I'm a working dad, and 100% the most important thing to me is my family and children.

What is clear is that the people who were the targeted audience enjoyed the speech, evidenced by the standing ovation he received at the end of the speech.
That is because, unlike Notre Dame, Boston College, or Georgetown, Benedictine College actually is a Catholic institution and teaches what the Church really believes.
Jessicas future is gonna consist of 10 cats and alone 😂.
Future? She's already living that way
Lol she's said she's bi, but I guarantee you she pretty much only dates guys, and if she gets married, I'm sure it will be with a guy.
And if that guy transitioned to a girl.... She'd divorce.
I went to a state school, and there were some women there who wanted to become professionals and go on and make a lot of money. There were also some women who wanted to marry rich and divorce into a lot of money.
I guess what Jessica is saying is that Men cannot comment on women. If that is the case, then I expect the nagging from women to stop immediately.
Nothing like a woman who keeps her own name, talks about being liberated and a feminist, graduates from college then finds out all she ever really wanted was to have children and determined that the best choice to provide her with this is someone she left so she goes back to him to do so then never ever really goes to work because she finds out that the world is too competitive of a place for her.
How sexist of you.
@@Webbgurl2000 I can’t tell if you’re being serious or joking, or if you’re just offended because you’re a nagging wife.

There's a difference between men "commenting on women" and a man telling women what is they "are most excited about" upon graduation.
The group who is supposedly one who champions inclusion for all is the most exclusive ever when it's something they disagree with.
The disagreement isn't with a woman wanting to be a wife and mother without working outside the home. It's about saying that wanting to work outside the home is part of a "diabolical lie" girls are told.
Thank you Amber!!!
Given his audience, he's largely right.
It's a fair point. Feminism means women can choose whatever they want. And there is nothing wrong with women who want to be a mom/wife. My mom was looked down on by many for leaving her job to raise us while my dad worked. Too many pretend that doesn't happen. Kristen bell even experienced it. And many just told her she was making it all up...
Yes women are always being put down for that. That’s what this controversy is really about. They don’t want to value getting married and raising a family. That’s why they’re mad. They consider it an insult.
