Customers always right. I go to the same pro shop because they educate beginners why the latest racket is not the best for them at this time. They tell them about potential arm injuries, being frustrated not being able to hit the shuttle cleanly, & will want to come back to buy something more user friendly. If they insist on buying it then they will sell it.
some people just don't want help and they will believe the marketing.
Very useful video so thanks to the both of you. I string a little, mainly personal use only and have always added 10% (or 2lbs) extra on the crosses but have never reduced it back to mains tension on the last 5 crosses so that was an interesting suggestion and something I will be trying out! One thing I have always wondered though is where roughly would you recommend the side clamps rest against/support the racquet? E.g. is their a specific area on the racquet or grommet you like to have them positioned?
John Taylor I prefer to get a good balance along the head of the racket, ensuring I have access at all times
Great video Paul, mark is my stringer and a very good knowledgeable guy.
For those in London or near mark is based in high Wycombe
He’s also a very nice guy
@@TheBadmintonCoach he certainly is
Hi Paul, I wonder...from your experience, does applying special ink to create Logo (ie. Victor or Yonex) like so many professionals do, have any performance gain? For instance, minimizing string movement after every rally. Or on the contrary, after some session the string looses its repulsion. If so, do players do it bcoz of their contract obligation?
Yan-Yan Popon the ink doesn’t have an effect on string although say it wears faster. As Alan said, professional players must have the logo on strings as part of their sponsorship contract.
If you have string movement then this is a completely different issue
Hey coach, One question, My ex favourite racket was the Zspeed. It's now time to change Rackets. What would you recommend ?
I'm more of a doubles player, playing back court and smashes and drops are my Favourite shots. I have a fast swing speed unfortunately not so much wrist action.
Thank a lot.
Test as many rackets as you can
I educate my friends; they don't listen. They feel testing rackets, strings & shuttles is a waste of money & time. (I'll use 2 shuttles, them 4-6 each person). I mention when there is an arm injury they may need to pay for physiotherapy. This can be avoided by testing. "I'm not going to use that benefit for my badminton injury." They don't want to change their habits even after an injury. Then they'll buy third party braces that will last 3-6 months & re-injure that arm.
It's a common problem and all I do is continue being honest. The final decision always remains with the player and they have to live with the consequences of those decisions
Paul, which Victor racket is the most even-balance racket & which stands close to Arcsaber 11 in terms of control?
Bravesword 12
29:10 - inter-stringer variation could also be down to how the stringer interprets the tension you ask for.
What does "26 lb" mean? 26/26? 25/27? 25/26? 26/27? I've seen all four across all the stringers I've known.
JMUDoc yes there are differences between stringers. Good point. Thank you
You see a lot of non-Yonex players still using Yonex strings? For example, Ginting seems to still use Aerobite on his Li-ning racket. When non-Yonex players come to you to string their rackets, how much are you charging them?
Regarding tension. If you do 26lbs mains and 28.6 crosses, the mains will be stretched further after the crosses are woven. Why not do 25lbs mains and 27.5lbs crosses?
Hey Paul, i've got a sale in my local shop. And they offer voltric 80 for a very low price. I've read your old review, it was very complimentary. I don't have a chance to test this old racket on court but the swing in a shop was pretty good. Do you think this racket is still relevant in 2020? The price is a really tempting offer.
It’s a great racket. The question is whether you want to restring it at ridiculously high tensions. This racket has maximum recommended tension of 24 from memory but I reckon it will take a lot higher. But it’s your choice
Is the yonex ld force 2019 stiff? Or medium? Or slightly stiff?
I dont have the racket any more but it’s probably somewhere between medium and medium stiff from memory although I have a detailed review on my website which should be more accurate
Sir, my dad and I have been playing with yonex nanospeed sigma rackets. I feel smethng is wrong with the tension.Pls suggest the best string tension for plastic shuttles-for both intermediate and advanced level players. Pls also suggest the best string model for plastic shuttles.
There are differences of opinion depending where in the world you live. I recommend tensions from 18-22 lbs in the U.K. because I am keen to protect players from injury.
Some players will not be happy with these tensions because they believe tighter stringers means more power. This is incorrect.
I believe too high tension when playing with plastic shuttles can damage a players elbow or shoulder.
@@TheBadmintonCoach Sir,I m from India
@@TheBadmintonCoach Tq for the valuable advice sir.i got my racquets strung at 22lbs.
43:55 fair play! I don't see the problem with that at all.
I would have offered to pay £25 out of courtesy. 🤔 There are some very selfish people about and it often shows in their play 😶😏.
£15 for a string job by Tim Willis is very cheap. Tim has been stringing for donkeys years. Even for 15mins work, it took him years to get that good.
That’s a fair price. That’s what I charge and £18 for more expensive strings
@@TheBadmintonCoach yeh that's right Paul 👍🏼😊 just hope that people can be more educated and that badminton can be more affordable for all
@@mdperformancepsychology the difficulty here is that there are far too many bedroom stringers setting up a little business and charging ridiculous rates to undercut the professional. They do not value the service they provide
The pro shop I go to finally increased their stringing labor fee (bring your own string) to match all retailers after they were able to reopen (pandemic). They didn't increase the prices for stringing packages (strings & labor).
