I bought this model about 2 weeks back after watching this video. The car drives like a dream. Your videos are the best Barrie. Thank you for this. Much respect from South Africa.
I had the titanium version of this a few years ago. Such good value and cheap to run. I once managed to achieve 83mpg from Cheltenham to Birmingham on mostly motorways. Incredible fuel economy and comfortable. I’m in the market for a back up car as my daily drive is a van. Might get one of these again.
Thank you for uploading this video, I'm just after buying this exact car this morning , I knew everything I needed to know before I purchased thanks to your video 🙏👍🇨🇮
i know its years old now but i just got one of these models and i am happy with it so many hidden features CD changer under pass seat, Steering settings, sport comfort standard and they do make a difference to the drive heated front window is Big in winter they warm up very fast inside within 2 mins or less its blowing warm air on a cold day and over all drive is nice I found the clutch is very very high i was concerned at first but it seems to be common and its fine changing gear etc a little low power in lower end especially up hills etc but if you give it 1500rpm drop a gear its fine very economical i can't believe how cheap it is to run and the tax is £30 a year so its great affordability wise plus all this for like 700 quid in 2024 is better than i expected as i come from a VW Jetta 2.0 tdi sport i expected worse
I had the exact model company car where I worked, an 08 year new. I tried it out on the A50 just for fun and I managed to get over 70 mpg, very reliable the only fault I had was as it was new the stitching on the steering wheel was scratching my hand. I'm looking to buy another now.
I came across this model recently at one of my local dealers. I noticed it had the upgraded seats that are usually found in the titanium versions. I'm guessing they are quite rare in any Zetec model. I am actually torn between the Zetec s and the Titanium because the latter has all the extra toys in the cabin. Have to decide what's important to me.
Barry I owned a 1.8 Zetec back in 2010 with the same seats as the one in your video. In my experience they seem to be the standard in Zetecs and the S model- in this particular shape anyway. However I had not come across one with titanium seats before. I'm guessing there are more around but I'm sure they are not as prevalent as the tic tock grey and black seats that seem to be the standard ones in this model.
just get the best looked after vehicle for your budget, you won't go far wrong with one of these, and even if you do they are pretty reasonable to repair
Fantastic video Barrie. Quick question: I'm thinking of purchasing this model Ford Focus but an automatic version. What are your thoughts on the automatic version and is it much less economical than the manual?
Barrie Crampton Thank you so much. Appreciate your advice. I recommend your videos to my friends who also thoroughly enjoy these test drives. Not many garages would make such an effort, especially in inclement weather conditions. It is very commendable. :)
xHayes try compare the market but make sure you put one of your parents down as a named driver as this usually decreases your premium, also there are a few insurance companies that you have a black box fitted in the car, these can be even cheaper
My grandad has just bought one of these. What's the sound proofing like in them??? He used to have a mark 1 focus and the noise coming from the engine near on deafened you!!!
@@colmfoley5583 how reliable is Ford Focus titanium 2008 1.6 tdci? Wonder if they’re safe to drive as well? And what are the major problems to look at exactly? Thanks
@Colm what kind of money did it cost for the timing belt to be fitted? I'm just looking at buying one and for piece of mind it will be one of the first things I do. Cheers.
Looking to buy a 09 plate 1.6 tdci with 89k miles on clock. Would I have any issues with DPF filters and turbo? Apparently really common fault and very expensive to repair. Just wondering what red flags to look out for on this. I do about 8-10k miles a year by the way. Mostly town driving with occasional carriageway/motorway.
you need to be doing at least 1 journey of 25 to 50 miles every 14 days and shouldn't think you would have dpf problems, you can also buy additives which help keep the system clean. We have had 1 turbo problem and we have sold a lot of Fords so its like anything else people only complain about the bad things so you think they are more common than they actually are, also parts for Fords are very reasonable so won't cost a fortune to repair
@Barrie Crampton Thats great info, thanks for quick response. Very helpful 👍 Update: The year of car is actually a 08 plate not 09. Has 89k miles on clock. Is that good? The garage is asking for £1850 and will accept part exchange also. The car looks very clean immaculate.
I have sold plenty but I don't think I have videoed a road test in one, but they are really good cars and i am sure you would be pleased if you bought one
any that dont get driven a journey of between 25 to 50 miles a week, but to be fair a clogged DPF can often be a symptom of something else, ie another malfunction/running problem but it eventually manifests as a blocked DPF
Barrie i've watched your Focus videos and I just cannot get over your seat position. :D:D:D You cannot operate wheel in it's topmost point without leaning forward. Get a bit closer to the wheel man.
@@BarrieCrampton Fair enough, you learned to drive that way, and it suits you now, but it is really unsafe and difficult. Why should you have to use tips of your fingertips to change gear in first (or fifth in continental setting) instead of using core of fingers or even base of your palm? Not to mention that you have so less control over steering wheel as you are further from it...
Sorry it looks like a brick drives like a brick and automatics are for lazy people I had one the engine was always losing power and go round the roundabout really slow in the wet traction is rubbish

this car is a dream to drive and great on fuel and 30 pounds road tax
Great Value For Money, Very Economical and you won't get anything better to drive
You Brits have road tax so cheap, in Ireland it's 200 euro a year on this car

Great video, very thorough. Better than most who only review. Wish I had a dealer like you close to me.
Thank you and thanks for watching
just bought this model weeks back a little slow but a great drive and very good on gas happy days plus 30 pound road tax

I would get this instead of the vw golf. Cheap to maintain.
I’m looking too buy a 2007 1.6 Ford Focus I want to know your thoughts on the fuel consumption
get a diesel
I don't know what it is about this car that appeals to me so much, I'm looking to get an 09 model automatic, any tips?? Great video by the way :)

i have one it is so good to run 30 pound road tax and very good on the m4 just the best car. on a full tank it will do over 550 to a tank .
pretty good isnt it?
I’m looking for one of these or an older version would you recommend their automatic gearboxes as I hate usin manuals in London?
Ford manual gearboxes are brilliant but i much prefer automatics to drive myself these days
Fantastic video Barrie. Quick question: I'm thinking of purchasing this model Ford Focus but an automatic version. What are your thoughts on the automatic version and is it much less economical than the manual?
Personally I would go for an automatic, but i am very lazy :-) Autos are great these days, think the fuel economy will be about the same,
Oh, and thanks for the kind comment, glad you liked the video

Do you think this would be good for a first car? Thank you!
xHayes it would be a very good car, but make sure you get an insurance quote first
Barrie Crampton do you recommend anywhere? Thank for for the fast reply

Barrie Crampton just got several quotes of £1,300 to £1,400 with a black box, that’s ideal👍🏽
xHayes brilliant, take it easy!
Great review thanks
Thanks for watching

Adam Woodward they are ok, nice cars and drive well, no noisier than the equivalent versions of other makes
@@BarrieCrampton oh right, that's good to know!!!
I own this type of car and the steering seems sightly stiff. Is that because of age?
Gerard Doherty Probably
What year
Hydraulic power steering is usually a bit heavier than electric power steering
What you think about the 2007 model?
good car
Can someone tell me, is the 1.6 tdci reliable? I've heard they suffer from the turbo failing quite alot

ALNERO sounds ok, just look at the service and mot history, also if it has any invoices with it, have a look whats been reported

If you were to choose an astra H 1.6 or a Ford Focus MK2 1.6 which would you choose and why?
Focus 100% much better to drive

Fords manual gearboxes are a excellent , but these days everywhere you go you are stuck in traffic jams, so i prefer automatics
