I just descovered music of Cape Verde on a compilation CD. It's like the best of all the Latin styles mixed with East Coast African music, subtle and sensuous and simply beautiful. Thanks for posting.
The music of Cape Verde is one of the treasures of the planet. Its various rhythms are endlessly synocapated, recreated, reinterpreted, and reinvigorated by singer after singer and musician after musician. I dream of visiting one day. I am American, of Irish Portuguese descent and speak Portuguese fluently. I will go one day. It wil be a dream realized. In the meanwhile, where is it possible to find any good Cabo Vaerdeano grupos in the States? I'm there.
whoa..BEAUTIFUL..I WANT TO GO TO CAPE VERDE AND BRAZIL SO BADLY..I am a Louisiana boy myself..so we have some things in common..but still really different...
im cape verdean cape verde is the best country in the world i came for cape verde when i was 5 years old u people should visit cape verde latter. u guys r scrobs
Let us never leave our country For so long a time Let us visit it often We’re going far away To seek a better life But living, that’s in our country. This land of fishermen and peasants Corn in the mortar, morna on the lips Sandals on the foot, the donkey carrying its firewood Three stones to support the pot. Although our country is poor We console ourselves Another’s joy doesn't deceive me We have none and we understood it Our kindness hides our poverty. -- tr. gabrielamendes c om

Peter Czukor Thank you so much! I spent years-a very long time ago-trying to track down these lyrics and understand her. I know Portuguese, but not Cape Verdean Creole. Just now, I found a video with both the original lyrics and their translation into English, written on the video.
nicely said....i'm so tired of the bull shit myself...all i can say is racism has done its job well....other wise the facts should not be left up to debate....but bravo nicely said..peace..^_^...

zaijose please tell me we where you got your sources from beacause I can asure you Cape Verde was uninhabited before the Portuguese arrived, yes some were raped, but some were consensual. Cape Verde cannot substain life there are too many droughts, which also should lead to the conclusion using logic, Cape Verde was uninhabited if it can't support life, this why the majority of the island's food is from imports. I know my facts and I'm Cape Verdean.
617212305312213 Your point being? There are many uninhabited islands in the West, does that mean anyone can land there and take it over? If you know your history you would know Cape Verde was a major Slave Port for the Portuguese empire which stretched from Asia, via Africa to the Americas and Europe.
I am from Cape Verde and I am living now in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Eternal music in my ears. Khadija Ouahmane ❤
i love the music of Cape Verde and have for over a dozen years.
Me gusta cada vez más la música caboverdiana, me parece una mezcla de ritmos que no dejan a nadie indiferente. Tenemos sucesora de Cesárea Evora
Que linda composição musical!!!! Saudades imensas do meu País Cabo-Verde.
Saludos de México

This is so beautiful.
Cape Verde is a nice country, i stayed there for 2 weeks. It's cool to know that you are on an island in the ocean.
Muy buena vocalista. Siento que es la continuadora de Cesaria Evora.
Primera vez que la escucho. Very good music & interpretation
Excelente composição de Tibau Tavares, adoroooooooo esta belíssima música

May someone translate this song for me please? I would appreciate it! :)
cabo verde all day
como se chama a canção?
@LoneCuetlachtli The "dominican look" is merely the look of mixed people of African and European descent. The look does not belong to any nationality.
Please, does anybody know what's the name of this song? I'm not portuguese native speaker, so I was really wondering if you could help me please :)
What just happened between 1:34 and 1:35(well I know what happened but still) and why?
Who's the hot guitar player?
Hernani Almeida

Zaijose, I Know that, but facts are facts and I'm just stating that. Before you speak read about the history of cape verde.
