Share House in Japan for $740/month - Tokyo Apartment Tour

- You've probably heard that renting as a foreigner in Japan is hard - and that's definitely not wrong. On the flip side, if you rent in a share house, it's usually English-friendly, rooms are furnished and the price is all-inclusive.

Hey guys! We're going to be doing our first live stream this weekend! We'll be sharing some exciting plans for the next month (a new *cold* adventure) and just chatting. It will be at 14:00 Japan time on Saturday - we'd love if you could join us!
You may have seen apartment tours from Japan before - what do you think about a share house? Would you be up for sharing your space with others?
Extremely underrated video. I didn't know a shared house like this exists in Japan. Now I gotta look into it. Thank you!!
Wow thanks for saying so! Glad we could give you some info on it. It’s definitely an option worth looking into it 😉
Dude your video quality is really good. Wtf - don't stop making these
Wow man thanks for the high praise!
Japanese share house seems nicer than I thought!
Yeah they're really great! I could definitely imagine you living in one being a super social person with the foreigners 😂
You deserve a million subs man, like fr.
Wow thanks man! That's really nice of you to say.
Idk why I haven't seen this before! It's really a great video! ❤
We’re glad you enjoyed it 😊
Thank youuu this video was very helpful 😊😊😊
Glad you found it helpful! Thanks heaps for watching! 😊
It’s so clean!
Haha yeah I think we filmed on a day when the cleaners had just come so it was especially clean.
are u able to renovate your own room? like hang up posters, put up shelfs?
Hey thanks for the video ! Is it far from the city ? If you want to visit tokyo you should always pay the subway for many stations ?
Hello! Thanks for watching! This specific sharehouse is a 40 minute train ride from Shibuya on just on one train. There are lots of other sharehouses closer to the city though, but they get more expensive the closer they are.
Thanks for your answer 😊
is a sharehouse kindoff the same as just living with your parents and siblings? we all share the same kitchen, living room, bathroom etc... but we own our own room. right??
Yeah that's right 😊 Also, to answer your other question - you can put up posters etc. but you just need to make sure that when you're moving out, everything looks the same as when you moved in. Thanks for watching!
If the WiFi is bad, could you upgrade it yourself at your own expense? Do they usually ask to see a visa for shared houses? Or can a foreigner just plan to stay there for 90 days, leave, and then come back?
If the WiFi is bad, it's hard to diagnose the problem and then determine if it's fixable without tampering with Oakhouse infrastructure. So essentially no, you can't upgrade at your own expense. One option is to use a wireless hotspot, which could possibly cost a fortune. On the otherhand, we've never had problems with wired connections in Oakhouses so I'd definitely recommend going for a share house that provides a wired connection and provide your own wifi by bringing your own router. We've stayed in 2 share houses with a wired connection and the connection has been reliable and fast (Roy plays a lot of online PC games, so is very picky about the internet).
Regarding the visa, their website says "There are no move-in restrictions related to your visa type." and says "Photo Identification required (driver's license, passport, etc.) (If you do not have a photo ID, present 2 forms of ID)", so by the looks of it, I believe you can do exactly what you wish.

Can you share its exact location ?
Yeah sure - it's called Social Residence Ichigao North.
Is there an age limit ?
I don't think so. We have people of all ages staying at our sharehouse. Maybe if you're under 18, you would need a guardian to sign the contract as well.
Where’s the location of your sharehouse? I’m looking for one around my school in Chiba but I can hardly find one on the internet
We’re just outside Tokyo, in Kanagawa. Yeah unfortunately it seems there’s not as many share houses in Chiba. Depending on how far you want to commute, you could maybe try to find something on the eastern side of Tokyo? Good luck!
What! You got some separate draws in your room!?!
Oh yeah we did! Yours didn't come with them? Maybe the last person in our room left them there 😅
