hello!♡
today i'll be sharing something a little different! i don't usually share the contents of my sketchbooks publicly here, but since i had this collection of books that have rested unfinished for awhile, so i figured i'd give them their chance to shine and combine them all to share with you all as a little end-of-the-year treat. ✨
consider it a HUGE thank you for all your support this year as i made my official return to youtube and took some big steps in reviving and continuing my art journey. 🫶
sorry about the lack of a proper intro. i was devastated to find out i somehow missed that file when i was transporting the footage to my computer, and i really didn't want to put off this video for too much longer!

These sketchbooks are the type that I would genuinely buy just to feel the satisfaction of flipping the pages and looking at the art. I wish that someday I could be as creative as this

i'm late to this video, but thank you for posting anyways! i love your art! 💜unfinished sketchbooks haunt me every day of my life hahaha 😂 i've tried different tactics to try to use them up, but they still collect somehow... anyways if you are interested here's two solutions I've tried that work best for me:
if i have a sketchbook thats like 95% done or something, but i just CAN'T finish those last 10 pages or whatever, sometimes i take those pages out (i usually use a spiral-bound sketchbook - and the Strathmore-style spirals are easiest to do this with), and rebind them to make a tiny sketchbook. if its a large size paper, you could even cut the pages in half to double the pages and make a mini one. usually i only do this as a last resort, or when i use a sketchbook for a specific purpose - like for a class or trip- that's now over, so i literally cannot progress in it.
When i can't do that, like with a sewn-binding where it would ruin the sketchbook's integrity, you can instead skip a page after your last drawing, then do a new intro page - Part II ! with a new start date, new goals, etc., and you can even make a little divider tabs that stick out to separate Part I, Part II, etc. With this method, you can even 'restart' multiple times if you frequently have long periods of art block or had switched to a different sketchbook for a while or something, and have the tabs keeping it separate.

omg thank you ;__;💕💕 i think i most commonly would get sketchbooks from michael's bc of the good coupons they offer (i'm from the states, idk if that store is abroad too !) i also would get from amazon too. i mostly find out about good quality sketchbooks from watching other artists. another one i heard good things about that i wanna try one day is from nina cosford!

I’m only one third of the way done with my current sketchbook I started last fall and I’m becoming kind of sick of it, I realized now I like really tiny sketchbooks because i can’t seem to fill up big pages. It’s also a book bound sketchbook and I liked it at first but now I wish I was using a spiral. It feels wrong to start my new tiny sketchbook when I’m only a third finished with my current one so you have any tips?
sorry to reply to this so late!! i feel like if it were me and it was really inhibiting me from moving forward, i would be able to justify a fresh start in a new sketchbook, and ofc i'd still keep the old one and consider returning to it one day or just letting it serve a different purpose like for the paper, like big standalone illustrations to tear out or something! i hope you can find the best solution for you✨✨

it's a mossery brand sketchbook in collaboration with the artist liliuhms! i had bought this one directly from the artist at a con, but i'm not sure if they're available anymore.. i checked the website and couldn't find it >
I have one of the strathmore sketchbooks my friend gave me a few years ago and I’m afraid to drawing it cus the pages are so nice and I want it to be perfect. But it probably won’t be… Andy way I loved the video
i totally get that feeling, those are nice quality books🥲 but if you eventually do work in it, i can vouch that you'll really enjoy it✨ i know it's easier said than done but try not to focus too much on perfection, it'll only hold back your creative process!

i think a few of them are mixed media so i'll just list them out xD strathmore 500 series softcover, canson xl in size 5.5 x 8.5, and the liliuhms sketchbook is from the brand mossery. hope that helps!
