"Star Wars Jedi: Survivor takes what Fallen Order did and wall-runs with it, then double-jumps and air-dashes straight into an epic lightsaber battle. Rather than taking us back to square one to begin Cal’s journey as a Padawan again, we’re trusted with control of a full-fledged Jedi Knight who we can grow into a master of superhuman mobility and fantastic and challenging combat. With a new set of larger, more diverse, and densely packed worlds to explore and a memorable cast of returning characters, Survivor tells a story that may be predictable at times but is still fun and emotional to watch play out. Launch performance issues aside, it’s a sequel that does virtually everything better than the original - which was already an exceptional Star Wars game. The fact that this is a sequel that isn't a "start from level 0" is already a big W for me. Never played a sequel like that before.

We really don't need more games like this. You can skin any big franchise onto the basic mechanics of this game and you would still be playing the same game.

Ghost of Tsushima is like my favorite game ever.
But in Ghost of Tsushima we had 4 stances and a 5th “ghost stance” unlocked through executions and combos. Having only 2 available during gameplay in Jedi Survivor is a let down, would’ve liked to be able to switch between them on the go.
(No spoiler). There's one sequence mid-way through the story where you feel like you're in a 4D roller coaster ride. An absolute genius idea.

The most impressive part of this game was that it didn't decrease any of your powers from the end of the previous game, but somehow made you feel as though you were still a young Jedi who was learning and discovering new abilities. It was a tremendously well done game.

Blaster stance, blasphemy. In the words of General Kenobi in The Clone Wars "Jedi do not use blasters" Irritated me when Ray used one in the new movies. Blasters are for everyone else, not Jedi.

The customisations and details look very intriguing, just a little over a day and we can all enjoy this masterpiece
20 hours in on ps5 and can confirm. Not only is it an amazing sequel, its fully fixed. Superb game
This looks so fast and fluid, a huge improvement, shame they didn’t show much of this stuff in the trailers as they clearly didn’t do the game justice
Usually the trailer shows what the game can’t do so this is a rare treat nowadays in gaming!
I'll take this over the trailers looking better than the game any day of the week.

It would be nice if this review addressed what appear to be yet another AAA UE4 based game with a broken PC port. It would be nice to know why this cross platform engine that's supposed to make things easy has been responsible for so many bad ports.

On top of being a great game, this will be a lot of people’s first introduction to High Republic lore. Love that era so much.
I’ve wanted to learn high republic lore so much but was to lazy to, I’m happy to have survivor introduce me to it
What do you like about High Republic era? The premise of "the Jedi are at the height of their game and the galaxy is as peaceful as it can be" seemed very boring to me. But I'm open to change my mind.
@@wZem If you know anything of Star Wars, it's that the 'relative peace' need not be synonymous with 'boring'. There can still be large threats that a powerful Jedi order can struggle with.
Now, let's just ignore the poorly written stuff (sequel trilogy, some High Republic content, etc.). If it's written and executed *well*, you can have great stories in any medium.

@@wZem why would seeing lots of powerful and unique jedi fight lots of crazy sith with more rare abilities be boring? This is also the most colorful Era of jedi. This Era is the one where you see pictures of Jedi with all kinds of colored lightsabers. That's just so cool. And they also looked different than other jedi.
Companion fighters puts me in mind of Guardians of the Galaxy video game. That worked so well because of the banter between and during fights.

The first 1/2 of survivor is a slog. But it picks up really well.

Why the hell was the 1st one not like this? And why dont we have a star wars game like the witcher or somethin comparable? Open world, do your own thing, build your own sabre, turn dark if you want. Why??

bode sounds like hes voiced by the same vc as Charles in rdr2. Hes been in a bunch of stuff recently im glad hes getting roles, its just hard to separate him from Charles.
Imagine going to see a film and half the CGI/practical effects are missing; the colours randomly shift around; the audio is largely out of sync; extras walk into shot out of costume, then halfway through the projector shuts off and catches fire. The staff come in and announce that whilst keeping everyone's attendence fees, they're welcome to come back in three months when they might have a working presentation.
But all the critics present at the screening give it 9/10 and say 'well, the underlying ideas and themes were interesting'.
That's Jedi Survivor.
Im currently on the first planet you travel to and it feels huge with alot to do.

I'm glad they start you off with your already earned abilities. That would worry me. They did the same thing with Miles Morales and I'm glad they were able to freshen up the combat to make it different.

This game is in no way a 9 with all the performance issues and reviewers should start taking that into account when deciding on a score.
You voice as well as the way you speak is virtually idential to Michael Aranda from SciShow.
Its quite soothing.

This game took a while to grow on me, but after getting the hang of it, it’s my favorite game.
starting off with most of your abilities from the first game just made this a pre-order for me
Frustrating that NG+ doesn't let you keep your abilities yet again - that was my biggest issue with the last game. Arkham City had a perfect NG+ years ago that solved the problem of gamebreaking by letting you keep all your abilities but locking off key story areas until you acquired the ability in the story. Why can't modern games do that?
Arkham City is simply the best superhero game of all time, and one of the best in general.
Must buy for me, loved the first game so much.

Another game where you running in circles trying to get back to the mantis ,getting stuck in some lag spot where you can't jump high enough or can't climb ...so all that extra stuff dosent matter if you can't go further in the game
