Restaurants have gotten ridiculous with their pricing, especially "fast food" places. I've become quite a decent home cook. A kitchen party is fun with friends over and it's a fraction of the cost to make. It's one thing for a high-end restaurant to have a big price tag but casual dining prices -- it's normally just a SANDWICH -- became popular because they WERE CHEAP.

Wages should have been risen this high or more for years now. The science and data prove so. If it rose along with the rise of productivity, we would all be paid $25-30+ an hour minimum. I'm really glad you didn't include Culver's as an overpriced chain in this list. Their single-patty burgers are around $5 here in Alabama and they are absolutely worth the price. I can get a full Value Basket meal (single cheeseburger/melt, large fries [mashed potatoes and coleslaw are other standard options], and drink) from there for around $10 and not feel hungry afterwards.... and it's all delicious, every time. Beats the pants off Whataburger, both in price and in quality.

Where I'm located, there are more starbucks than there are burger places to eat with the exception of fast food places like mcdonalds since there are barely any jack in the box and burger king and the super sonics was taken over the oklahoma city thunder basketball team. Mcdonalds and subway have became over price and the taste has gotten worse too. There is no quiznos and barely much jimmy johns around. Basically, washington has barely any good food places to eat at since they either shut down or relocated to crimes. At least red robins has bottom less french fries lol. Washington has only like 1 or 2 of each burger place since they are located in other states. Washington is known for being a state for its tech companies and starbucks had even overtaken all the tech companies combined.

Generally prefer places like McD and jacking in the box over these high priced places find them to be no better than the cheaper spots. All of that said the best burgers I have ever had have come from the small one or two stops than the chains, some of our local spots are Hal's, the net, or the chuck wagon.

The video is overall accurate but can't get into to details ( important to me and maybe others).
NYC I alternate between Five Guys and Shake Shack when i will pay the $20 (single cheese) or more for a burger meal.
My closest Wendy's is very 'street' . Some who come in looking for change (so I will not sit in window seat in Five Guys on West 14 St, nor on West 34 St.!)
Bk of all mainstream fast food burger here, is most likely to be dirty. Most fast food places I can go to have little or no seating, no required to have a toilet. New young employees are 'immigrants' so just get by on little English.
In n Out vs Shake Shack is interesting to me. From 3 tries of In -n- Out CA visits,
I'd say the In -n- out PLAIN burger, fires (none of you will go for that) has less taste, but is fresh good quality and is a background for all the topping 'they' go crazy for over there.
Rare for me to pay premium for Bareburger, here in NYC. When new it was a steakhouse quality large burger with fresh fries in a cone in a stand. Long changed from that. Still good, but my favorite choice from several years ago is gone. Higher prices, smaller burgers. The fries are expensive and NOT worth it at all. Bar service $ are important to Bareburger.

The ultimate cheeseburger isn’t what it was 20 years ago. It used to be 2 quarter pound burgers and now it’s 2 thin burgers which puts it on the level of a McDouble but for 2x the price. I think Jack in the Box in general has had the highest amount of shrinkflation of all the fast food places around my area. Everything got smaller and prices went up significantly.
