I think WAY more DIY videos should use this format. Going through several iterations with varied skill level is such a useful way to go about it. I've seen many tutorials that were either at absolute beginners level or full on technical expertise, when I was actually looking for something inbetween. Thank you SO MUCH for this.
this video deserves way more views. thank you so much for the many different options. im surprised polymer clay just flew over my head as an option. will be making some soon!!!!
If you'd like an alternative handle, give cabinet knobs a try. Sometimes you can find plain wooden ones in a pack of 4 or 6 for not a lot, or even a crystal glass variety. Your detailing of the clay method has solved a puzzle I've had for a while; namely, a method that would let me use the design on an existing coin as a seal. Bravo!
Wow these videos are such high quality! From the audio, to the camera angles and even just the aesthetic of the workshop. Of course the content is amazing too.
Came here cuz I just wanted to learn a good way to make a stamp to seal a one-off envelope, watched the whole thing cuz this was suprisingly high quality!
I liked the video because you were making stamps instead of using stamps from places like Amazon, like nearly every other video in this category. I subbed because you incorporated spent shell casings.
I truly admire your skills, Nick! And may I saw that it was 100% satisfying you pouring that wax. I just sat there with my mouth agape: "How does he create those PERFECT circles?!" Thanks again for a great, informative video!
I love watching you work. Your woodworking is absolutely gorgeout...I'm still trying to figure out how to make the stamp heads. I think the clay option is my best option -- your dragon casting looks fantstic. Really enjoyed this uplooad. New subscriber. Happy Thursday. Kim
👌😄 *Excellent!! For another 'beginner level' metal one, perhaps could try punching the desired seal design down into a metal bottle cap? Don't punch all the way through, but just deep enough that the wax has a proper channel to go into; enough that the design will show up. Tfs!!* ☺️👍
Absolutely awesome video. Loved the music, the editing was fresh and paced v well great lighting and clear to see even though I know it can be difficult in low light. Not sure if you used filters but at any rate the end result you can't argue with. Got an instant sub from me. Loving the making and see the process of it all. Great work on every level.
The video is great, 5⭐️. but “DIY” should have an asterisk nowadays. Maybe it should say “DIY if you have a wood turning lathe, a belt sander, a bench grinder etc…” But EXCELLENT job on that sliding lock using the shell casings. Masterful.
You'd want to use something smooth and durable, Air dry clay had a tendency to crack and is semi porous It probably could work with some work post processing like sanding and sealing Hope this helps
Yes! The reason why I prefer a stone or porcelain is for heat dissipation, baking paper takes a long time for the wax to solidify enough to stamp. If you're doing a run for wedding invites you'd want the granite and save an hour or two
Cool , my fav one is the melted solder stamp , I think I will try that , but would it be too hot to put in a wee silicone mold ? Assuming it would prob melt it.
Hi Nick - How durable are the stamps you made using the laser stamped into the epoxy clay? Someone else on UA-cam says epoxy clay stamps will only last for around 10 uses. What has been your experiencewith them? Thanks - Bob
This comment gives me an idea to try rock putty 💪, uncommonly found ? in paperboard cannister in U. S. hardware stores. Very short work time, and very rock solid product.
I really enjoyed watching this video. You have a money making channel here, make sure to use your hashtags. I think that I might just be able to make a nice stamp after this ♥
It's not silver, its solder. It's used for soldering/connecting wires together. It melts at a very low temperature, so it's not hot enough to burn the wood.
🤔 am still wondering how you were able to wing it with the tin and wood. did you have a temp gage? To keep the tin within the melt point and flash point?
I´ve been meaning to get/make a custom wax seal stamp for the specific purpose of sealing letters. How would you go about it since you make the wax seals in a way that they will be detached from the surface you stamp them on? (in your case, granite) Would you make the wax seals AND then glue them to the letters? With what kind of glue? More wax?
I have found that the wax is almost identical to hot glue. You can make your seals then attach with hot glue, the two will melt together sealing your letter. You could also use the wax as well
Halo Sir, i'm Indonesian. Can you help me to make my own wax stamp? I realy exitid and wanna have one it in my life. Im waiting for your reply Thanks you very much_
Yea I was never too good with a ruler I nptice the two fives and the six on the box thats as about important as it gets in my house. And even if it was a .50 or bigger its not like we don't have a rifle that can fire a round of that size although as someone using callipers daily I should probably learn millimeters.
If you don't mind me asking, what do you do with the wax that's left in the spoon? Do you just peel it off and reuse it? I've been wondering that because it's a little hard to get every bit to pour.
You can reuse it in addition to more wax with the next stamp if you leave it in the spoon. Alternatively, if you want to get rid of it and not mix colors, using a folded paper towel to clean out the spoon also works.
I'd Oil the stamp with olive oil if they're not completely smooth any sort of roughness will make them stick so if they have already been baked you could try sanding them with a very fine grit then oiling them You could also chill the stamp in the freezer or on ice before use...the difference in temperature should help it release Hope this helps

I'm really glad your video popped up on my radar. It was very interesting to see your various methods. I think I'll give them a whirl.
i want you to know.... that I sincerely appreciate you. This is just what I needed

Might take the wooden handle off of an old tool of mine. Also that burning technique is surprisingly good

Do you know what the aesthetic is called?

Tip for those with 3-D printers. Print the mirrored model you want as a mold, then use the clay on that mold to get a good product.
He's a creative little gremlin. That's the best way I can describe him.
The amount of dedication and skill in this video was amazing!!

I use a hand-held lightter to melt the wax since I need to be discreet to not attract attention from my family
What are stamps forbidden in your family or something? lol
I think it’s the fire
I love your whole warm cozy aesthetic setup, so glad I came across your channel! Keep up the amazing work bro, you've got a new subscriber :)

A lot of awesome ideas, and the use of sodder... brilliant! Thanks! Shall give this a try.

Im sad cuz that wood engraver machine would be so good to have dam
You are very talented. Thank you.
Can you use regular wood for the seal? Or is it like too porous or something? Maybe some polyurethane on it so the wax can come off easy?
Great video!

Instead of granite or tiles, baking paper works just as well~

I am loving the deathly hallows symbol
Such a great video dude, nice
That was a laser cutter right?
Not sure if you're aware of this but heating a neodymium magnet can cause it to demagnetize.
awesome video very relaxing thank you
Use 3D printer and dip your stamps in water before you make a seal to prevent them from melting. Works flawlessly.
Thankyou great video
Thank you very much for this
I will try it 💜
Great learning! Question: At minute 14, for WHY reason does the wood not burn when pouring the boiling silver? Do you have any treatment?
It's not silver, its solder. It's used for soldering/connecting wires together. It melts at a very low temperature, so it's not hot enough to burn the wood.
Wait for the first stamp, is the clay piece baked before using? Is there a hardening process before use?
🤔 am still wondering how you were able to wing it with the tin and wood. did you have a temp gage? To keep the tin within the melt point and flash point?
Aaj yes, a box full of bullet shell caseing, ofcourse i would have that just laying about!!
Hi! Would ceramic also work as a surface to place olive oil and stamps on, or does it have to be granite or marble? Thank you!
Ceramic will work great as long as it is smooth!
The lighting was too dark in places but loved the ideas. The handles are beautiful
Out of curiosity, for the solder stamps about how long do you have to wait after pouring the solder before it's safe to handle?
Around 10 mins

is there a way u could make a Alliance and Horde seal stamp from the game world of warcraft?
The .556 NATO and the modern .22 caliber cartridge are the same round ones just has a larger charge for more speed and penetration.
5.56*
When the dot is before the first number, it's in inches. .556 caliber would be bigger than .50 BMG
Im almost 100 percent sure that's false but I focus more on using the round not reading it.
@@sammidwood404
Do 2 minutes of googling. Nato uses millimeters, 5.56mm is about a quarter inch, or about 0.25 inches. Pretty close, innit?
Yea I was never too good with a ruler I nptice the two fives and the six on the box thats as about important as it gets in my house. Can I use resin for wax seals?

Awesome video! To you by chance take commissions for custom stamps?
Do you sell your handmade things?
Potterheads are so incredible.
My daughter made several stamps with oven bake clay but the wax sticks to them and won't come out. What are we missing?
I'd Oil the stamp with olive oil
if they're not completely smooth any sort of roughness will make them stick
so if they have already been baked you could try sanding them with a very fine grit then oiling them
You could also chill the stamp in the freezer or on ice before use...the difference in temperature should help it release
Hope this helps
You legend
what's your laser machine?
its a k40, I made a video about them ua-cam.com/video/fdYGFcrokfk/v-deo.html
What are these seals used for these days? I know my brother had this around 45 years ago but that was when people still wrote letters. He thought it was funny to seal letters to our grandparents and such. But what do people use them for today?
I'd use it for scrapbooking
I write letters to my friends from time to time. I'm 28. Companies also use them in fancy packaging
Are these wax coins now applicable to something or do they just lie around decoratively?
I guess they can be reused, melt again
You can buy circles of double stick tape to make them usable.
Add a small drop of molten wax to adhere or just add a little heat to the back to adhere.
