- One of the great blues guitarists and singers, Brownie McGhee plays "Kansas City Blues" and "Me and My Dog." From the DVD "Brownie McGhee: Born With The Blues 1966-92." More info at stefan-grossma...
I saw Brownie live in the Wellington town hall in 1987. 3 hours of him and his guitar, with a harmonica player (Brendon Powers) for about 20 mins. I still rate him as one of the best live shows I have seen..........
pretty freaking fine: there is a lot beneath the surface. I would say he's a Master of the instrument and a deep man, a whole lot of soul and spirit, definitely a great, but real humble. Nice to see such a person
The first time I saw Brownie was in the early 70s in NYC and he was playing with Sonny. I remember thinking, "THAT'S how it's done!" Never got to see any of the other acoustic blues guys from the 30s and 40s, but seeing Brownie play opened me up to that great world. Love it.
I had the opportunity to perform with Brownie. Chicago Blues i 1995, Monterey, Long Beach. What a great guy and great experience.
I always loved Brownees singing and playing.
THIS IS GREAT MUSIC....
Brownie you were the greatest
I think that I would prefer to believe the man who WROTE and PLAYED the song as to what he titled it!!! BTW Brownie is just a flawless and incredible guitar player. He truly is missed very much.
:))
and I really think you could learn a lot more musically just by watching his face!!
get a load of the wear on his fretboard...man.... some serious serious time spent playin!... Brownie, you're the best!!
gold plated!
Like Sonny Terry says :" whooooo whooo"
Actually, I am, that's why I know it's the SOUL that matters more than the technique. You can always add technique to soul if you've got both, but you can't add soul to technique if you don't have enough soul, and what's technique worth without soul?
bad ass
sure, but you can still see his hands if the face is shown. The hands are technique. The face is the soul. Which is more important in a video, really... not that it has to be exclusive
HAAHHAA HE'S THE BESST
Guitar strap
hes using a load strap with the ratchet on it. lmao
GREAT BLUES..
for focusing a wee bit too much on the hands when I'd be more grateful to see the singing face...
