- On this episode we feature one of the cleanest and meanest Honda Civic EG Coupe street cars we've had the pleasure of filming! Rob Courtney bought this car 20 years ago as a roller and has been restoring it ever since. It's running a built K-series engine(Manley Performance Rods) and Precision 6466 turbo on 40+PSI. He originally built the car FWD but with major traction issues he converted it to AWD using mostly factory Honda parts and never looked back. The car is an absolute beast on the street and the strip, blasting down the 1/4 mile almost knocking on the door to 8's!
Can we just take moment that this guy is shifting like blink of an eye, what a true driver. Even k swapped it in 04 🤯 real real OG much respect!

This is my kind of jam. The upper limit of what you can do in a street civic setup without crazy expensive custom parts. Fantastic!
This would be crazy expensive for most unfortunately. I'm in the middle of doing an all motor k20/24 frank EG hatch and I'm in it almost 15k atm and the car is still at paint and the engine is still at the machine shop 🥲
And mine isn't boosted or AWD. Granted I could make a lot more HP for the money with a snail on it, but wanted to max the FWD all motor set up first.
I'm taking about billet block, custom manifold, p and p head, high end engine management etc. People put 40+k into these projects just under the hood. I like the basic(ish) garage type builds. It will take some cash and some time but its attainable if you hang in there.
Ahh gotcha. I shoulda just went boost but I've had nothing but boosted projects in the past and wanted a change, but we all know you can't stay away from boost once the bug bites you 😂

Seen this car in person rob comes to our local meetups almost every weekend he brings this car down almost every night he’s honestly one of the coolest dudes I’ve met that actually builds Hondas
All go, no show. Just a clean straight body. My fav Honda i've ever seen.

Eg coupe H2b Darton sleeved with all the goodies been building since March 2017. 📈 it will be done eventually. Saving for a built trans now. Engine is done and ready for 1200.

Randy Ledford reason you see a lot of fwd civic bouncing off limiter is because the wheels are spinning faster (no traction) than what the car is actually moving.so if they didn’t bounce off limiter the rpm will drop drastically when shifting into a taller gear. For most boosted civics would probably fall out of boost if it was not bouncing off limiter..just a FYI so you won’t get flamed by Honda og’s 🙌🏻
@@ThatGuyinAnotherHatch They do that because fwd is gay, so the tires slip excessively and with a 4cylinder its hard to keep a single big turbo in boost without revving the piss out of it.

I had a 92 hatch with a full H22a swap IDENTICAL to this car , same wheels , same exact paint code , went to a meet in lavale Maryland after a local car meet and met boob about 10-12 years ago and he is a kick ass dude. The few and far between quirks my car had he helped me solve all of them effortlessly. A real OG in the Honda game , this car is stupid fast on the street too. Had the luxury of a ride one time.

That was a great race from the driver seat. I got a good hole shot on the camaro and then he passed me somewhere around the 330’ and then I came reeling him in at the 1000’ and passsed it on the stripe. I lost by 5 hundredths of a second but had an absolute blast.

Dump the parachute mount, the stickers and switch the tires/wheels out, and you talk about a sleeper! This guy would catch so many snoozing it wouldn't be funny.
Oh, and maybe bolt the exhaust that fell off back on! LOL!
The parachute is on a quick release in the trunk and it usually doesn’t have stickers but I support the people who help me when the car is at an event.

Hasport motor mounts are supposed to be the way to go but I guess it depends on the owner of the project or build I had hasport motor mounts in each of my. Hatchbacks
