A very nice review of the Fernades BT 120MM a.k.a. Mai-mai. Now, I'm interested how Hisashi Imai's other guitars (e.g. the Stabilizer and the more recent Dazzler) sound like.
I picked up a used Fernades off Ebay a while back mostly because I liked the shape. Man, what a great guitar! These guys really know how to make em and this one seems no different. It really has a nice sound. Great review!
Thanks I will. I will be looking out for one of these, but they seem to be a Japanese only release, and for the US as well of course! I think the only way is to import one into the UK, from Japan or US. Tried the UK importer and they confirmed it is a Japan-US release. I notice on the Fernandes web site they also do a custom model, not sure how different these are, (type of wood used I think and EMG pick ups), but there you go. Thanks Jon.

Just noticed that the headstock is a homage to the equally bizarre Firstman London Special from the 60's.
