If you guys go back, highly recommend checking out the Laguna Madre Trail near the S Padre Island Convention Center and Laguna Vista Nature Trail!

South Padre Island is probably my favorite birding place in the US ! It's great in the Winter for all kinds of cool resident species.... But in late April / early May, the neo tropical migrants are off the chain 🙂
I was there for a medium sized fallout, and got so many Colorful, lifer birds it was rediculous ! Painted And Indigo Bunting, Scarlet Tanager, multiple Warblers, etc, etc. Unforgettable life experience 👍

Cool, love the bobcat. Did you make it to South Padre Island Birding and Nature Center? The boardwalks there were very productive for us.

So fun to see you at a place I've visited -- and so glad you had such good luck! Love it when you share your travels. That Olive Sparrow is my absolute favorite!

Great spot! Also check out Sabal Palms and Resaca de la Palmas in Brownsville for solid birding of a variety of species. If you can make it to Joe & Tony Oliveria Park magic happens about 20 minutes before sunset when hundreds of parrots and parakeets fill the trees (you will see them flying in to roost but the sound is deafening).

Awe man, I SO love that place 🙂 The first time I was there a year ago, I told a worker I had driven 2000 miles to see a Green Jay, so what were my odds ? He laughed and said, about 100% 🙂👍 I sat down right where you guys were at, and within 5 minutes, about 8 or 10 of them came in 🙂
I got the Olive Sparrow on my trip there 6 weeks ago. But last April, I got all of these, plus Altamira Oriole, and Bronzed Cowbird 🙂 SO want to go back ! Especially after watching your vid 😀👍

@@BadgerlandBirding This is A great place to go for spring migration especially when I was there last time there Derek there were so many birds I put my camera away I went down to the local PetSmart I came back with three tubs of mealworms I was feeding more birds the mealworms that I was taking time to photograph them it was during the time of a North Wind and I feel very sorry for the birds they were landing on on the concrete and they were starving I decided it was more important to help the birds so I was feeding them I felt that was more important than taking photos of them .
That was back in 2015 , this is definitely one of my favorite places to go along the Texas Gulf Coast .

Love it!! How long were you guys in the Rio Grande Valley? Planning a birding trip there next year & wondering how many days would be best! Thanks for your excellent videos!!

Nice video. Going to Ecuador Friday so looking forward to seeing lots of hummers. When are you guys going to be recruited for Animal Planet?:)

These guys are way too smart and eloquent for an Animal Planet segment. When I was a little kid 20 years ago it was a great channel that shared so much footage and information, but nowadays it's all garbage that has nothing to do with actual wildlife and nature. Pitbulls and Parolees, River Monsters, Finding Bigfoot(REALLY?), North Woods Law, some other law crap, some veterinarian stuff(at least this is semi-related). I remember watching actual docu-series back in the day that kicked ass, or even the top 10 animal countdowns and whatnot.
