I’m working on one right now using 3 weight bamboo & rayon with a 6mm hook. Also an extended double crochet because I’m so hot natured I wanted it light & lose. It’s looking pretty good
GREAT JOB! I'm an old gal that has been loving this dress and all it's caused in the younger generation... especially inspiring the crochet craft... I am a professional "finisher" of knit and crochet.... ** it's a hit or miss thing with edging"... as well changing hook size to adjust... my favorite is using the "rick rack" or crab stitch as an edging.. just wanted to share... keep up the great work.. Love watching! Hugs, GrammaBabs
It’s cute! You can go another row of sc around neckline and decrease evenly around every few stitches til you get it smaller like you like it. I’m with you in the cotton bamboo yarn. It’s buttery soft. I hate acrylic!
So Tashi, this has inspired me to do my first wearable. I mostly make accessories (hats, bags, blankets etc). But I can totally crochet rectangles! I can do hard things. Yours came out dope, I like that it falls off the shoulder a little, it’ll give it character as a beach cover up.
You look so stylish in your dress. I think it's great you figured it out from a photo. You could go from the beach to dinner in it. Again, you did great!
Really cute! It's fun to see you try and learn during the process! For summer yarn you really should try something like a cotton blend with bamboo or silk or something like that. it's clearly more expensive but! It add a really nice flow to your garment and is super breathable and lighter than just cotton!
You did a beautiful job on the Taylor Swift dress. We are always our worst critic. People who ask for a crochet job does not realize how much work is involved on each projet. They think that since you are watching t.v. and working on the project, so what!? Who wants to work for $4.25 a hour. Your work was a chef d'oeuvre.
Hi, nice video ❤️. I did Miss Swift dress too but only with two colours. Dark purple and violet. I did not put a scoop neckline but looks ok and I put more edging. I will try again with 4ply yard and with 3 mm hook for lighter garment because this one is heavy.
4.5mm is my fave size hook as well. I will go out of my way to use it. I thought maybe it was because that was my very first clover amour hook and that’s why I’d use it when I shouldn’t, but now I have all the hooks, I still prefer the 4.5 -It’s weird, right.
I like the way you made yours and I am not a Swifty either. I can see it as a nice sweater with a tank underneath and pants. It also appears to be an easy pattern. Yarn tingling that's why I pull from the outside of the yarn it's not so frustrating. I agree with you about the price of the original dress severely undercharged. The tutorial for the sweater dress sounds good to me.
Ok so this is my first time watching you and omgosh, I loved your pre cro stretch. I’m gonna add this to my day. Great fun tutorial. I’m now subscribed. Looking forward to future videos. 🥰🥰
I ordered cotton yarn DK weight, hope it’s on the thinner side, making it for a friend. Size small. Will update when yarn arrives. You made it very fast, it take me years to complete projects.
Very cute finished product! I agree with your final thoughts about yarn weight and space between stitches. Also, going up a hook size would help. Another suggestion- decrease the final round of sc in the collar to round it out and pull it in a bit. Also, NEVER tie knots! Especially when you are creating a garment and spending as much time as you did, take the time to join properly to honor the time you have spent even if its "just for you" You deserve it!
I appreciate your channel a lot, and I recently subscribed. Currently, I'm creating a Taylor Swift-inspired dress using 100% acrylic yarn. I'm considering using light weight DK yarn for my next dress. 🧶

When I saw taylor swift wearing it I was amazing because shes very rich so if shes wearing a crochet dress its probably sold at at least a couple hundred dollars... im very surprised

Good job! Looks so cute on you. I love your honesty and love that you took us through your process of how to figure out how to make it. I do want to make one and that was so helpful for this and other projects I want to make. Think I will make the black and white version. Suits my aesthetic better. I do knitting and those stitches on the VrgGrl are crochet. You can't do knit like that. I mostly crochet afghans so might make an afghan with the colors and stitch pattern. Might be fun.
Keep in mind if they’re selling the dress for $120 retail that means they paid around $60. So that’s where you should be calculating a labor wage from. Cuz they’re not selling it for zero profit & when I was in college yrs ago the norm was a double markup price at keast on clothes. Prb worse now.
