Pawn owner: "It's fake!"
*Stan Lee in heaven* : "Dont make me come down there you punk!"
Why did I hear Stan Lee's voice when I read his part. 😅
@@rublanco87 I did too
@@rublanco87 I heard his voice too 😂
I also heard his voice reading that hilarious
@@rublanco87 same 😅
It’s so common for pops to have paint flaws EVEN super limited ones lol so that’s literally a terrible excuse. This pop is definitely real and honestly the guy is making a mistake by selling it at a pawn shop where he would only get half of what’s it’s actually worth lol.
This guy was an idiot to take it to a pawn shop instead of selling it somewhere else where people actually understand the figures.
He is taking it to the Pawn shop because he wants the money now. Not too many looking to spend $12,000 on a Pop Figure
he actually went to the show get attraction on his item haha
No one is going to pay 12k for a Stan Lee signature. They are extremely common and not that rare on an item you want. I have a Iron Man helmet signed by Stan and most ill get out of it is 400. Its funny how people put over 1k on listing a long with info that its rare because Lee passed.
Honestly most of the pawn stars clips with items this crazy they just put them on the show for the views and dont intend to buy them, just like the guy with the million dollar mario game. They just bring them on to show off the item then lowball them for the show. The owners know they wont buy it before hand too and probably get paid to come on the show.
Pawn Stars should have brought you onto the episode to tell if it’s real or fake! 😂
I agree
Couldn't agree more
imagine lol "let me call a buddy of mine to come check this out"
True
agreed
WOW the guy mentioned nothing about the condition of the box or any flaws in the box! we all know funko do shoddy paint jobs on the figures but 99% of the boxes are on point, and fake figures never have the same type of box.
I don't even do Funko Pops to be frank... I am not a fan, But yeah - Even I spotted that as an issue! I may not collect Funko - But I do collect other Toys... And Box Condition, Printing, Even the Various Stickers... They ALL HAVE TO BE EXAMINED!!!
You are 100% right - It is VERY RARE a Fraudster will create an absolutely 100% Carbon Copy of a Funko Box... And with Comic Con Stickers too? Yeah - That's even harder!!! If I as a Non Funko Fan can see so many flaws in that valuation - SOMETHING WAS CELARLY DODGY IN THAT EPISODE!!!
WOW!
I watched this episode the Saturday it premiered and was screaming at my TV. They need an expert just in Funko cause their toy expert is a moron. Felt bad for the seller at the end looking like someone kicked him in his jiblits just cause the expert was wrong.
Absolutely agree. All the evidence points to this being 100% legit. The poor guy, he seemed so nice!
I saw this episode When it first came out I was annoyed
Pawn stars is always pulling off crap like this 🤣😭
Right he is a horrible toy export
Yeah was definitely real! I've personally seen in person and owned 1 of 12 pops and they all had some small defect. Hard to watch!
I am 100 percent with you Tristan, tons of my pops have paint job mistakes. And I don’t think they do anything extra for the limited edition pops. And it had all the paperwork. I’d be willing to guess it’s real and the expert wasn’t actually an expert in Funko pop but more an all around expert and toys
Prob last minute rushed. You know funko
when its limited to only 12 they do.
The Pop looks real 2me, i have 2 agree with Tristan with paint flaws, just because of paint defects doesnt mean its fake, its the quality control in third world countries where the pops r made. Im not an expert tho az i could be wrong. Great vid 😀👍🏾
2
Couldn’t agree more!
I thought I was the only one thinking that. I was like whattt ?!?!? Looks good to me
I have 2 agree with you 2 it is a really good statement I totally agree 2
And the signature "expert" on pawn stars also isn't an expert
That “toy expert” is inexperienced in Funko pops. Hopefully the owner of the pop didn’t get rid of that holy grail
how is he inexperience?
@@Grimlock316 all funkos have imperfections
ALLLLLLLLLL
Honestly I'm so pissed off at all of what happened at the store and I agree with Tristan 100%
Pawn stars is f**king ridiculous
Honestly it was for the best cause if they decided it was real they would have lowballed this guy big time
There are several instances where the seller ended up dealing with the expert instead of selling it to the pawn shop. This could very well be one of those moments where the toy expert might’ve wanted the Stan Lee funko pop to himself
Con stars 😂
Makes sense lol
@@jockrockwell3947 yooo this was hilarious gotta be an episode on vice lmfao
Awesome video Tristan, as usual! I watched Pawn Stars religiously for years. The old "signature expert" was released from the show due to fraudulent credentials. And what happened to the original toy expert? I think the seller should take it to the actual Funko Shop to authenticate it, or they'd be the ones to point the guy in the right direction. Real or fake, the pawn shop would only offer 25 - 50% of the value for it.
Isn’t this the same signature expert with fraudulent credentials who Rick calls his friend and never got booted from the show?
Johny, the old toy expert, got into legal trouble for allegedly beating his girlfriend and that’s probably why he’s gone now.
Yeah, I read that about Johnny. In addition, Drew Max was the sports memorabilia and signature expert. He got into legal trouble with fraud. I read that he also passed away in 2020.
That’s one thing I never understand about the people that come in there and call themselves collectors. If you are a collector and you know the value of your item why go to a pawnshop instead of other collectors? I get someone who doesn’t know what they have and just trying to pass it off and get money. But if you know it’s $12k try to get close to that instead of $6 at the Pawnshop.
Lesson learned... when buying something like this at a Convention. Take a pic of you at the booth with it. Or at least the shipper from the store purchased from with receipt. If paint flaws are now justifying as Fakes... then EVERY Funko is Fake!
I dont own a single pop with perfect pain...... I have over 1000 pops in my collection lol
I bought a loose Wonder Woman bombshell chase from a local comic book store and it also had some paint flaws so for him to say it’s fake because of paint flaws that’s just nuts plus I sure they wouldn’t have let Stan lee sing a fake pop so to me that expert was wrong the guy even had the paper work
Saying it's fake just bc of paint flaws is ridiculous. I was selling a pop & guy told me it was fake bc it had paint flaws. But like you said sure can find a flaw with most of them. Funko isnt perfect and sometimes there will be minor imperfections
This actually disappoints me quite a bit. I'm not a HUGE Funko Pop collector, but I have some Sonic ones (Sonic running, Silver, and Shadow with a chao) and Knuckles is my favorite character so I bought two of the new Target exclusive Knuckles flocked so I could have one out and leave one in the box. Both had imperfections. I took the one that had an imperfection in the flocking out, but the other one had a minor paint imperfection. Like I said I'm not a huge collector and not looking to make money on them or anything so in a way I'm glad to hear more hardcore collectors say that minor flaws aren't uncommon, but disappointed that more people don't realize that fact.
As a Star Wars fan and one time Star Wars Collector - That would be like telling a Star Wars Fan that a figure is fake because of paint flaws... Neither Kenner nor its UK distributor Palitoy ever did PERFECT figures... I had many that had badly painted eyes and all were 100% GENUINE... I know as I was still a child and went to the Store to BUY THE BLOODY THINGS!
I don't know who this so called expert is... But they are NOT good at their job!
That's a bummer for the Guy. I saw, another episode that someone brought Funko items to the store. To be honest he should have done research about the box and other détails. Great video.
There are so many ways to tell if a figure is fake. I understand studying the figure, but in my 6 or 7 years 8f collecting this product I have NEVER heard of someone determining the legitimacy of a high value figure based on the paint job alone (that was not a clear fake). Funko is not known for their high quality paint jobs, that's why some collectors will even go out of their way to pay a premium for a more accurate paint job on figures with low print runs. Based on this guys logic, my collection might as well be bootleg!
This is one of my favorite videos you made, it had me laughing a few times when you were looking back at your pop.
Totally relatable and love your video 😂❤️😊
English?
@@joedude967 English what?
Honestly felt bad for the seller. I know other people have said this before, but the show should honestly get actual experts or even UA-camrs to authentic Funkos 🤦♂️ shame they scammed the dude, seems like he took great care of that figure
I think toy store guy was jealous he didnt have a Stan lee figure
i wouldent trust this you tuber with authenticating, just saying. Not to mention this guy has a very good idea on what hes talking about
@@Grimlock316 If your referring to the expert, then no. Secondly, not every Funko is going to be perfect, and they will have small imperfections with paint.
The paint flaw wasn't a good indicator especially with a pop that old when Funko wasn't as big as it is now or even when that video came out
This was a cool video! You should definitely do more of this style!
I contacted the toy store where Steve works from and said he was no longer with the company. That’s good because he was an idiot and know about pops 😂
I have some Funko pops myself in my almost 300+ collection that have a couple of paint job flaws on them, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that the Funko Pop is fake. Pawn stars should’ve really done more researching that guy who says he’s a toy and collectible expert
That Pop sure looks real to me. I really don’t think they got this one right. I’ve seen plenty of figures with paint flaws and I can’t believe they said this one was fake. You points are all valid also. IF they had faked this one, Stan wouldn’t have signed it later. They missed the mark on this Pop.
Loved this video Tristan!
And I agree with you that the paint job is not a good indicator of authenticity. Thanks for doing this video.
Besides their book expert I wouldn’t trust these guys to save my life! I hope this guy got a second opinion!!
I agree I love when she's on an episode. She's extremely knowledgeable and always excited to see rare books. Their autograph guy is pretty legit too. Always comes in with multiple signatures to compare too, is pretty fair with prices and always gives a valid reason for the price of an auto.
Like here $400 is fair for a Stan Lee auto. He's signed 1000's of items and it's not rare at all.
The autograph guy is a fraud.
the expert really just expected perfection and called it "fake" after seeing imperfections.
That’s funny i swear to god I knew the fake Stan lee was gonna be first I should have called it but I didn’t want you to switch it lol lmao great video
Toy expert should realize that all Funkos have imperfections. It may not be paint jobs on every single one, but all funkos have weird dust looking crap on them.
I think he needs to take it to some sort of Funko expert to have it further authorized! Hopefully this guy will watch your video so he doesn’t just let it go for nothing!! Stan Lee was such an amazing kind soul and since he loved the Dallas Comic Cons I was lucky enough to meet him I would say 6 different times and have got his autograph and photo ops with him. Sadly I was not into Funko Pops at that time so no signed Funkos.
I saw this episode with my dad and when he said it was fake my heart dropped.
Top pops is an expert at these type of things
Love your vids! Keep up the great work, you inspired me to collect funko pops myself!
It is really cool how you did this video because we never know what real or not. :-) Great video
this raised my blood pressure LMAO
I have been watching your videos for a few years now, I remember when you were just a kid starting out and my friend and I would watch every video of yours. He passed away recently and collecting Funko PoP's just kind lost my interest. Though when I see your videos I still click them, because it reminds me of the 100's he had lining his walls. Thank you Top Pops for continuing to create content for us big kid adults.
Can't wait to see the garage sale one.
this man knows as much about fake funko pops as I know about quantum physics, literally nothing
Pawn stars “experts” aren’t always right, they had a signed Dale Earnhardt tire and the authenticator said it was fake but I’m almost certain it was real.
The way Tristan just instantly grabs his vision to look at it when they say that his autograph was heavily foraged
Watching you makes me so excited and wanna buy all pops
The 2nd time top pops has watched pawn stars both vid are great
Got to admit I bought official pops from gamestop and other retailers. And some have imperfections. Box never opened. They do occur, it's mostly a QA problem that goes unchecked.
Any Stan Lee autograph is like a rare Pokemon card
Stan Lee would absolutely sign a fake figure as he'd have no idea it was fake. If someone pays for his signature at a con, he'll sign whatever. It'd be interesting to know the story.
1 minute! love you top pops! love pawn stars too
i love you tristen your content everything your such an underrated youtuber
Dude when i watched this episode i was livid! I cant believe he said it was fake!
I remember when I used watch pawn stars when I was like between 7-10 and never seen this episode thanks Tristan!
well that's cuz its a more recent episode
recent as in it just came out a couple of days ago on the 6th, plus the plexiglass barrier on the counter and the lack of background customers is a clear indication of this being recorded super recently (coronavirus type recent)
@@envious3304 thank you 😊
Tristan says “in my collection I have about 3,500...” enter in Paul Scardino 👀
Yeah I think I have seen things that people complain about the “experts” on pawn stars. Like I could swear I heard about someone taking something there and they told him it was fake. He took it to another expert who was a real expert and they told him no this is totally real.
That guy who said the funko was fake was no “expert”
The know funko pop I own is "Charisma" from Fallout. 😆 His thumbs up sold me on it.
Only way I can see it happening would be if Stan Lee was presented with it at a later date and signed it without noticing what it was at a comic con for a random fan
What do you honestly except from Rouge Toys? That interaction is Rouge Toys in a nutshell.
He must be from the same store as the nintendo expert that was on storage wars 😂 with that nes-001
Looks real to me that guy was probably told to say it was fake by the shop
Love your vids they always make my day
Pawn stars puts there reputation on the line, so I believe they would have no reason to lie.
At conventions if you pay the fee, Stan Lee would sign anything. No matter real or fake.
Well, you have to put in the fact that the crew on Pawn Stars are trying to set things up so they don't have to pay out a whole lot of money on these exchanges.
That grinds my gears!!! That pop was real!!!!!
how do you know?
yea that's real. The fact that they were All signed before they were given out proves it
The toy expert probably offered him $400 in the parking lot “for the signature”.
haven't watched the video yet but I want to say this is re-action content I can get behind
Someone who is qualified or has experience to offer worthy comments and arguments
I don't have a Stan Lee signed funko but I do have a signed Spider-Man 300 which is a cherished item in my collection.
I mean at least he gets to keep his exclusive stan lee pop
all pops are produced through machines theres gonna be imperfections
Just proves that anything can be worth a fortune to one person and 0 to someone else.
these pawn guys are trained to make you feel like your stuff isn't valuable
Man I almost bought a Stan Lee funko but was a more normal edition but passed it up
Imagine the seller threw it out afterwards 😭😭😭
You should be the toy expert there
I’m glad this video is getting out there cause when I first saw it a month ago I was the one of the only one s saying this expert doesn’t know what he’s talking about. It’s def real
i love the new mic!
Half of that 8k+ pops created are Deadpool lol
My local pawn shop is selling a fake Freddy Funko as Pennywise for $150 thinking it's real, pawn shops often have no idea what they're looking at.
This guy looks exactly like what I’d expect a crazy funko pop collector who has a funko pop lair to look like lmao
ive been collecting POPS for 4 yrs and now going into my 5th . i only trust my funko pop app to see the going price of each of my figures .
Where do you get your sodas because the Funko shop only has 3
I saw this episode when it aired and I was like what the heck?? The Pop! is real. Where's Johnny when you need him? 😊
I don't see Pops holding much value in 20 years.
Even if real it is crazy to spend over $10K on a single figure.
Tristan love the vids keep up the great work and god bless
They just didn't want to pay the money. They did that guy dirty.
Love your vids!
Cool btw kamikaze actually is the Japanese fighters that would divebomb with bombs at the front of the plane, they would divebomb into ships and/or their target. And the part where they got a close up of where the red paint was over the white paint there really was a bit of red paint on the belt
Totally amazing video and fantastic job top pops.
ToTaLlY aMaZiNg!!!!
Me and my dad were watching pawn stars and that scene were the guy was selling the funko pop came on
hi top pops! have a nice day and also, you're my favorite youtuber.
I have a Stan Lee from Iron Man with the Limited Edition Exclusive sticker from the 2020 Summer Convention
Ive never seen a Funko with flawless paint...
My Hisoka hot topic exclusive has some paint issues. I mean it isn't a super duper rare one or anything, but very evident that there is def. some minor flaws on the pops.
Kind of crazy they didn't offer him any thing at all! I probably would have gotten a second opinion lol.
the expert saying limited figures have more quality control LMAO
Stanley probably wouldn't know if the figure was real or fake he could probably tell if his signature wasn't his hand writing.
Plot twist: Outside the store, Rogue Toys man is like Since it’s fake, I’ll help u dispose it. Seller passes him the stan lee, put its online and sold it for 12000
Pawn stars has those lets say specialist in order for some stuff to be able to escape from the money they are gonna pay! Simple as that i believe, the pop was real but they managed to escape with the paint flaw excuse!
Enjoyed this one 👍
I have over three hundred pops and I’ll tell you no matter the pop there will be imperfections
I’ll never get answered but
How much is the Stan Lee normal that version
I used to watch that show but I don’t know why anyone takes anything to them. Why not just sell it on your own and actually get the price it’s worth and not at least 50% less. And yea the signature is real but the pop isn’t! What a joke! 😂
Not to mention that this figure was sold as signed. There’s literally no way for this figure to be fake since it has all the authentication. The dudes only excuse was that it had a bad paint job… that doesn’t make it fake. 🤦♂️
wow, he definitely took the advice of ppl who didnt even have the experience or expertise to even make that call
So if we take a funko pop out of there hard stacks or protectors it brings the value down? Also if we take the figure out of the box does the value go down on them? I have no idea about collecting these bobble heads.
I remember when people went mental for beanie babies and thought that they would be worth money in the future, I see these things going the same way
