I have a 2017 Ford Focus SEL that overheats only when the car is calling for 90% radiator fan speed. When it gets that high, it stops the fan. The thermostat, fan and fan control have been replaced and the coolant is new. What am I missing, here?
This helped me so much today. My FF was overheating and the actual heat itself hasn't been working. I hadn't thought to check if the coolant was out until watching this vid. The tank was was bone dry! Bought some coolant for $17, filled the tank while the engine was on (as recommended by the mechanic at the auto shop). Heat came back on instantaneously and my car no longer overheats. Thank you!
I just want to thank you guys so much for providing me with all these ford focus videos. They have been invaluable to save me a lot of money on maintenance and repairs.
This was very helpful. My FF got hot two time and both of the was while idling for a while. Also, the AC blows hot cold. So it has to be that the fan is not coming on fast enough.
Any update here? So my FF overheats when I. Idle for too long or when I'm in traffic for too long. I have to turn on the heater to lower the temp but want to solve the issue not put a bandaid over
This happened to my gfs vehicle it kept intermittently overheating and telling her to pullover. After wasting time doing thermostat and fan control, i figured it out. Ended up being a 5$ fuse. Its called a mega fuse, its located inside the battery wall! Take a multimeter and test the mega fuse, had to go to a ford dealership to get it but was only $5, the mega fuse was reading as working and not working when wiggling. Good luck
My 2018 Ford focus transmission overheated light came on it told me to pull over and wait 5 minutes I did that and it didn't come back on what do you think happened??
If it didn’t come back, the problem could’ve been either a false overheat, or it could have just been road and driving conditions like going up or down steep grades, having to pass a lot, or towing (that last one seems stupid but I have seen smart cars towing lawn trailers)
@KarlRawlins yeah, I think the head gasket is blown. It keeps losing antifreeze. A ford dealership told me it would be $3K just to fix it, if it's only the head gasket. Car has 124k miles on it....I'm not sure it's worth it.
The fact that he doesn't mention the cooling doors up front, which were supposed to help highway gas mileage, is unfortunate. Did see one comment here that mentions them. Should definitely be something to check. My 13 overheated un 97° yesterday, having my daughter check them today...
In my case it was oil radiator. It was broken and some small quantity of oil was getting into the coolant contaminating the system. Temperature sensor was showing overheat but almost immediately returned to normal. If your temperature sensor behaves like this that may be the case.
I have a question regarding my 2014 focus. It has been running fine, no issues. Yesterday I was driving and all of a sudden I lost power. It shuttered a little and I could not accelerate. The check engine light came on and then it completely died. I got pulled over and tried to start it and it only cranks. Check with code reader and it gave #1 cylinder misfire code. Check all plugs and replaced #1 coil pack. Still wont start. I was reading and there is a recall for the pcm. Could this be my problem? And if so, is there something i can do to fix because it is the weekend and cant get to shop right now.
2014 Ford festa ST - very hot day here in Texas, I have drove the car in a few days,. Jump in go 7 miles, get an inspection sticker drive across the street, gassed up the car. I noticed it was a little hot, so I went and bought drink and Waited for it to cool down but it never did. I pulled it away from the gas pump came back an hour later, same thing height temp warning and check engine light. Came back 3 hours later temp outside still around 90. Temp sensor still on. Coolant read was 126C after total of 5 hours setting. Decide to drive it home ~7 miles, max speed was 8mph. Heater on the whole time... coolant level looks fine, oil level looks fine.. could it be that sensor or possibly the thermostat closed. If it was the head gasket what would I be looking for?
Please I am using Ford Focus 2014 module. I am facing transmission overheating on the dashboard. I learnt it's the gearbox board. Please I need one how can you deliver it to me?? Thank you, Gideon.
Losing power can only be electrical or a fuel problem. I would check #5 in the video because you may be getting a false reading and that could throw you for a loop.

My 2018 is currently leaking antifreeze when I put antifreeze in Reservoir, I thinking it could be the Sensor. Thanks.

Mine over heated when I used the cruise control.

Hello I bought a ford focus eco boost 1.0 engine from 2013 and the turbo is overheating is that normal ?
Hey buddy I need the video on how to replace. The thermostat. Please
Ford fiesta 2012, loosing coolant but no leak anywhere, no water in oil, end run super smooth, any idea,??
Hi . I have a question , I already replace thermostat, water pump and stills overheating , any suggestion ? . I appreciated your HELP.
Maybe coolant reservoir cap

Hello did you find out what the problem was?
@@AlexBonesJones Yes I did. Someone put something in my gas tank.
How did you find out? I’m losing power and overheating, feels like I have weak throttle pedal
@@darcil99 that’s so fucked
This is stupid but I pulled my radio fuse (i think it was 79) out and it immediately stopped having problems.
Only overheats if outside temp is hot, and running 90 -100mph on freeway. Slowdown to 65mph. All good
My focus se 2012 is transmission overheating
Take a shot every time he says 'guys'. 😂
😵💫😵💫🤮
My water outlet/thermostat just fell apart and caused a full coolant leak.
What are those 2 cylinders sticking upwards on the left of the engine on top?
Camshaft position sensors. Had to replace one. Car was very low on power. Easy fix

@DazedWrld thanks! I will take a look, it doesn’t sound bad and no smoke. I am thinking it is possible.
i have ford focus 2015 .. facing reduce power low engine temperature.. whats the reason
I had the same problem going up a hill. It was a faulty thermostat.
What about oil cooler?
This was my case. But I think that engine was not really overheated, it's just the temperature sensor which was signalling fake overheat.
Please I am using Ford Focus 2014 module. I am facing transmission overheating on the dashboard.
I learnt it's the gearbox board.

Does anyone know how i could be overheating and losing power? I’ve tried e85 and regular, just did a complete deep coolant flush.
Losing power can only be electrical or a fuel problem. I would check #5 in the video because you may be getting a false reading and that could throw you for a loop.
Could be more than they two things you said @davidmaynard
I replaced my relay and my fan began to work again..two weeks later it’s off🥺
I replaced thermostat and cooling fan, still overheats.
Nos gustaría que lo pongas en español
My sisters coolant reservoir melted on the bottom side and was leaking coolant.
Same with my problem
I have a problem on overheating
My car typically overheats when im sitting at idle, i can turn the heater on full blast and it immediately brings the tenps back down.

This is the same thing for every car lol
