lp.constantcon... One has to be curious about singers who leave bands. Do they still listen to their old com-padres? Do they dare listen to their replacements? When it comes to former Toto singer Bobby Kimball the answer is yes. After his forced departure from the band at the high point of their career - following the multi-winning Grammy album “Toto IV,” Kimball says he still listened to Toto.
In our exclusive interview with Kimball he tells us how he felt about that next album “Isolation” and his replacement Fergie Frederiksen.
Kimball is set to release his new solo album in the U.S. on April 21 on Cleopatra records. As a tip of the hat and a sign of moving forward from Toto it's called, “We're Not In Kansas Anymore.”

I am so saddened that Bobby Kimball is suffering from dementia. My mom had this illness before dying on Jan 2017. She also had cancer. My heart goes out to the family of Bobby Kimball as he’s such a talented singer. I was just listening to Isolation, one of ToTo’s greatest hits and he was singing Mr. Friendly and the many others. My goodness, his voice. Such an amazing singer. I never saw him in concert.😢😭. I think he should be in the singers hall of fame as well in the Rock n Roll’s hall of fame as well.

Ann ? Kimball didn't lead sing on ISOLATION but his voice is in 4 or 5 songs carrying the background vocals on that album. There is a demo on UA-cam with Kimball singing LION. Sorry for the loss of your mother. ❤️ ✝️

I opened with my band for Bobby on a couple of occasions in Europe in the 90’s. What a gem of a guy. So nice, funny, open. Brilliant.

Caviar! Nice! Bobby Kimball such a sweet guy. Love all Toto singers and losing Fergie freaks me out still. It's really good that Bobby is open about Toto and loves the music he's not on. I look forward to hearing everything Toto and former band members play and sing and do. Best band ever formed!

I didn't know Bobby and Fergie were good friends and Bobby likes Isolation album.
I love both Bobby and Fergie. Joseph respects and carries on their traditions.

Still have Isolation on vinyl, and a solid album, but does sound differnt without Bobby.

I wish that we could hear once and for all HOW MANY songs that Bobby actually recorded for Isolation, and WHICH ONES. This issue or question always seems to be dodged, as it was once again here by Bobby. Maybe he's not allowed to talk about it? We know he recorded "Right Part Of Me" which was left off the album, we hear him distinctly on the chorus of "Stranger In Town", every bit as much as on Africa's chorus. I have heard rumors that he also recorded "Isolation" and "Lion", but my gosh, why can't we just get a straight answer, once and for all.

Sorry, John Boudin but BK doesn't bring it and hasn't for a long long long time. He has been milking the Toto legacy for way too long and when Jeff Porcaro RIP told him to man up he responded "No one tells me what to do!". Which BK stated himself. No wonder Joseph Williams was called in 2010 for the restart of the band.

Exactly half as Bobby said, his vocals were kept as backimg vocals on three tracks…Luke diminishes his involvement which is not fair and we know they were all on coke and alcohol but in Bobbys case it was more obvious, pity he did not do the album fully and with all songs ommited especially the best song he ever did and maybe the best ballad toto did, right part of me that Luke does not like as he did not do the vocals but Marty P amazingly brought in the orchestration w powerhouse vocals and one of Lukes best solos…Isolation should have been a Toto V record but too many things went wrong and also, the fact Toto IV never got a US tour…

i, like alot of toto fans waited 10 years for their toto 14 album. i was disappointed but i started thinking about all the things that they were going through. mike porcaro had passed, they were breaking from simon phillips and nathan east was also parting ways with them. it was a strange time for toto. i hope the new project has a little more to offer, i am sorry that i was so harsh on them but toto 14 really did not seem like a true toto album and the retro sound of some of the songs did'nt do much for me. i would've loved for them to do something simular to the tambu album but it was'nt in the cards. i do however think that it would be good for them to grab simon and nathan and bring them back into the fold.

Im not the biggest fan of the toto 14 album but im a pretty big fan of orphan, china town and a few other songs from it but there isn't really much of the classic toto in that album china town is the only one that has that classic sound that's because it was wrote thirty years before but yeah it really has the hydra album sound to that song

I'm sorry I was so harsh on them - but here let me whinge YET AGAIN about what I think of Toto XIV. Give it a rest John. If you were a true fan, you would not be repeatedly getting on youtube - and facebook - to bag Toto out! And there's plenty of fans who love their last album. You're in the minority, accept it.

bobby was there from 77 to 84 then was thrown out for drug issues then fergie was brought into the band form 84 to 85 and then they got rid of him because he really didn't match that toto style and the in 86 joe was brought in and them thrown out in 89 for the same reason as bobby but a different drug

he was only on auto-tune once and that was on the falling in between live 2007 and they where all on it a bad decision by the producers.

He has rebuilt his voice. He only used autotune for one tour in the 2000’s.
