at a friends wedding, the bride´s brother on the organ played the Charge before he startet Mendelssohn´s wedding march. needles to say, we all burst out laughing - including the bride.
How do I nail this on a proper bugle? I’m in desperate need of help. I’ve got a Derby party this weekend and it’s on me. I’ve been practicing and can’t quite nail it.
Pretty weird to think that there were people at, e.g., the Battle of Gettysburg playing trumpets as large groups of other people *literally* tried to kill them. I mean, imagine playing the flute at the risk of your life. It’s wild that people are willing to do that. Shows the real power of the social structures we live in but generally don’t think about. Some people say warfare’s part of human nature. I don't agree. It is not human nature to stand around playing a euphonium while people are shooting guns at you. Guns! Loud ones that spit out a ten-foot cloud of smoke when fired. Fired in volleys! Often at people who stand in the most exposed position of all holding big flags! That’s not human nature; it’s human discipline. Discipline forged, mainly, with nothing but words. Violence is a part of human nature, sure. But not violence like *that*. That… Had to be invented.
I can't wait until You Tube is repaced by some platform that is like "the old you tube" where there isn't a 21 second commercial before you can watch the 27 second video you want. Yes, I know you can 'skip ad' after 10 seconds and then it takes another 5 seconds for the desired video to return.
I’ve only learned trumpet a few weeks ago and I almost died trying to play this 😂 my primary instrument is a flute
Keep trying, Haley- You'll make it!
Just used this for a Robin Hood read along. Thank you!
Glad to hear it! Thank you!!
This is probably not what a charge would have sounded like in 13th century England! :p

fl68- practice tonguing and slurring through the harmonics. Slurring is important for strength and facility. Give it your best shot and good luck!!
