  • In this stenciling tutorial, Greg Swisher from Cutting Edge Stencils explains the in's and outs of using spray adhesive on your next stenciling project. Spray adhesive works great when stenciling. Just mist the back of the stencil with spray adhesive, let it dry for a few minutes and you're ready to start stenciling. Spray adhesive helps to hold the edges of the stencil down which gives you tighter, crisper stencil prints. So don't you think it's time to try spray adhesive on your next stenciling project? Head on over to Cutting Edge Stencils and start planning your stencil project today!

    Can I use oil paint for an exterior project on aged galvanized metal?

      You could but it just takes forever to dry and they're difficult to work with. Acrylic paints are so good these days that I would could certainly use them.

      Hi, I don't see why not but I always do a test in an inconspicuous area to make sure there are issues.
      Good luck!

    How do we remove adhesive glue from a wood wall without damaging the airbrushing design underneath? Thank you.

    • @CuttingEdgeStencils
      @CuttingEdgeStencils  11 місяців тому +1

      Hi,
      Sounds tricky but what you'll need to figure out is what solvent will work to soften the adhesive but not the airbrushing.
      I would try paint thinner. Don't use alcohol or lacquer thinner.
      Good Luck!

    Any issues with pulling paint off the wall when removing the stencil?

    • @CuttingEdgeStencils
      @CuttingEdgeStencils  2 місяці тому +2

      Hi,
      That would only happen if the wall wasn't properly prepared. But I would still go easy with the spray adhesive and make sure it dries to "knuckle tack" before using the stencil.
      Good Luck!

    When you wash your stencil to get the paint off, the adhesive doesn’t come off? Oh I love the idea about the wax paper too. I never heard about that before.

      Hi,
      No, in most cases spray adhesive is solvent based so it's not soluble in water. To me, it's not worth it to try to clean off the adhesive. Hope this helps!

    Great, what type of paper are you using?

    • @CuttingEdgeStencils
      @CuttingEdgeStencils  7 місяців тому +1

      Hi,
      If you are referring to the paper on the back of the stencil for storage it's just wax paper. If you are referring to the stencil, it's made out of Mylar.

    Do you think it will stick to to thick rubber?

    • @CuttingEdgeStencils
      @CuttingEdgeStencils  Рік тому +1

      Hi, The spray adhesive will definitely stick to the rubber. Don't know if it would hold the rubber on the wall though.

    So I tried stenciling for the first time. I use a basking spray because it said it was temporary and repositionable. I let it dry for about 3 minutes before I put on my piece of furniture to stencil, but it ended up leaving a little bit of a sticky residue. My question is do you have any tips on how to remove it without affecting the stain or is it okay to spray polyurethane over it anyways

    • @CuttingEdgeStencils
      @CuttingEdgeStencils  2 місяці тому +1

      Hi,
      You could try paint thinner on a rag and very lightly see if that removes it. Don't use alcohol. Test the paint thinner in an inconspicuous area to make sure it doesn't remove your artwork.
      Good luck!

    • @CuttingEdgeStencils
      @CuttingEdgeStencils  3 місяці тому +1

      Yes, as long as you don't use too much. And you should let it dry a bit first.
      Good luck!
