Clone is still the hardest Gojira song to play for me, just because of intro riff (weak pinkie). Even Magma is easier with it's all-over-the-place harmonics. This is hell of a riff to start debut album
At least you'll train your pinky plenty while playing this song.. I'm in that boat right now, it's just a tab bit too hard to play it... even at like 60%, how are you holding out after 2 years?
This is so sick man! I had absolutely no idea what they were playing when i first heard the song, this is so helpful! Btw, you should totally do Ocean Planet next, it has one of my favorite breakdowns at the end.
Great stuff mate! Absolute beast haha. Props for that intro and verse. So hard to play lol. Made it look easy! I notice that watching this song live, Joe just taps the parts that aren't palm muted too. One of my favorite songs!
Maybe he changes it around on the tapping part you’re talking about, cuz I’ve seen him play that part live where he just pics it once and with the left hand does hammer ons and pull offs.
@@Robher85 Hmm yeah maybe! The live videos I'm talking about are back in 2007-2010 (ua-cam.com/video/y6gmNxPj9PI/v-deo.html) so maybe he stopped doing that a bit later on. Always find it interesting to see how things change over time when playing songs live
I think he tends to play the first lower part picked and then the higher part legato live. I went with extra picking as I preferred the sound to be honest, and it helped me keep time too.
@@ShadowMantraSteve Yeah picking it probably gives it a bit more power behind it!. And like you say, keeping time. So hard to play haha. You nailed it and it sounds awesome.
@@ShadowMantraSteve I got my shirts yesterday. I love them and, not that I was expecting any less than the best, but I have to say the quality of the material of the shirts is top notch. \m/
@@domanz1 Just throwing in my vote for Mouth of Kala. I love that rhythm. Also good job, I am still in the 'I don't even come close' stage. :) Keeping at it...
Ya know, I found this song about two weeks ago. Searched for good quality videos, then you drop this beautiful gem. Amazing. Just Another song I’ll learn 10 seconds of, cry from lack of practice, then never try again. 😅😂😂
Possibly, my best advice is to find songs you enjoy playing that have tremolo in. Find several so you have some variety and don't get bored of playing the same riff all the time when practising.
Excelent!!! Great play, I have that same guitar! I am already watching all your gojira covers and learn them. Can you explain how you equalize and what distortion/effects do you use for gojira songs? That would be really usefull, thank you so much for all your work in this channel
Hi, if you're interested in mixing have a look at URM Academy and the videos on their channel. There's some great knowledge there! I typically use an older amp sim called Le456 by LePou and TSE808 as a tubescreamer plugin clone. You do need an impulse loader for the LePou plugins though. Also the Ignite Amps Emissary from STL tones is another good free choice.
Sorry, I missed your comment! I use the old LePou plugins a lot as well as the Ignite Amps Emissary sim. I use GodsCab impulses, and occasionally some marshal and diezel ones.
I've been struggling for so long to get faster at the palm muted part of the intro. Whenever I try to go faster than 85ish BPM my hands just don't sync up and it sounds awful. Any tips for breaking through?
Honestly it took me practising over the course of a couple of weeks and it gradually became easier. If I don't practise it I can feel the tension creeping back in my arms. I wouldn't practise it excessively, just for a few minutes a few times a day. I use the speed trainer in guitar pro, but a metronome will do the job too.
are those really tripplets around bar 41? I thought in the context of this tab they would be 32nd notes... yeah sorry to be a downer but they should be 32nd notes...... like in the next riff. Great cover though
Small correction - the riff at 1:17 should be 32nds not 16th triplets!
Thanks Neon Black for pointing it out 🤘

It's impossible to play that breakdown riff at 3:10 without making an angry face😂
The breakdown is so fuckng hardcore man. It's so sick how you do it!! Gz!!

Well done my friend, nice work.
Thanks 🤘
Excellent as usual. Thanks for the new challenge. Another Gojira tune to learn.
Enjoy! It's a fun one
Still goes hard, brilliant cover too, loved it
Thanks 🤘
Dude this is amazing
This song is so fucking hard to play. I don't even come close at that speed. Nicely done.
BTW would love to see you play mouth of kala.
The intro is a pain to get down. Keep at it though, you'll get there 🤘

Any reason for the bad sounding high freq? UA-cam compression is shit ik but it never was as bad as this. Might be coming from me tho
Any idea what kind of range? 4k is normally an issue
@@ShadowMantraSteve no idea, I think it could be my phone during the transition between 360p and 1080p
The second part of the first riff is tapped I'm pretty sure, otherwise an amazing cover!
I believe so also - check the Clone bass cover on my channel ....I've added some slap/pop to make it more fun and dynamic, tough
Nooo not tapped just not picked. See live version from 2007
