Unfortunately, I think it is often the people with the highest degree of perfectionism who achieve at her level. A blessing and a curse. It's what got her there, but also what prevents her from accepting anything but perfection.

Lindsay, you are a winner in my books. You were the best and most fearless woman skier on the world circuit when you were competing and were it not for your serious injuries you would certainly have achieved your goal of being GOAT. The reality is, you had a number of serious injuries that few world-class skiers recover from and manage to achieve the same high level of performance that you had before your accidents. That's amazing in anyone's books. I don't know what you plan for the future but I hope you find it and I hope that you and PK Subban continue to be happy.

Coming back from so many serious injuries on the world cup circuit has to be one of the biggest underlying achievements for her. Many skiers would have retired years before she did.

as much of a pleasure as always. I remember when you didn't win at Beaver Creek one year and you were all tearful afterwards and said "I tried to give it my best, but my best wasn't good enough". Very touching and so misplaced since you were already outperforming by a couple orders of magnitude. Here's something you know more about than I do: what's the difference between working against the clock, vs. competing against others ? The dynamic of performing for an audience can lead me astray, while that objective measure I only have to relate to myself about. Cheers & best to you.

Do you know, how many millions of skiers, would only dream of winning just one world cup race? Not ever a gold medal.
My Idol growing up was Billy Kidd, and his best was silver in Squaw Valley. But still what a hero and great role model for so many.
You may feel you let yourself or someone down. That is because you are a great champion, in every ones eyes, but your own. America is a great country. No one should sellout to any other oppressive country, being fooled into believing that America is not Great or them self. God made you great. Modesty is a very good thing, in knowledge of your own greatness, such as yours.

Success is the distance you've traveled from where you started failure is looking back and saying it wasnt far enough. When you come to the point of accepting it being " it is what is " that you regain the self that is valuable regardless of external evaluations you may have internalized. As far as form is concerned she is completely correct in taking that coaches opinion its who she is. Shes tall long legged a little too upright not bottom gravity hugging like a cannon ball but length gives her longer leverage points for push offs . Not being top heavy it worked for her and she did everything in her power to fulfill expectations except possibly her own. Being wistful about it is surmountable wallowing in the what might have been is not. Keep moving lv life is embracing you .

What any driven athlete has inside to propel them through agony for glory is often a drive to just feel ok. Winning isn't about standing on the top ,it's about keeping your head above water by winning. It took me decades to learn this. It took more decades to begin to love myself. Her first big step is to help others who are drowning. 99% of those people don't have god given talent to help them.

yeah , we got that, now moving on and it is what she needs to do. Moving on, with gratitude but no resentment. She could have broken her back instead of legs...and she could be paralyzed....She needs to be grateful and happy she survived the challenge. She has been rewarded, so now, she needs to learn how to be a regular human being....thinking about others..

The highs can be balanced by the lows but it's important to be mindful of the fact one is never as good as ones best day or as bad as our worst day. By all measure in her niche sport shes a success even if her pinnacle was not as high as her expectations. It's also important for her to know that the down times are transitional ramp ups to something else and need to be approached with some patient non competitive endurance. So enjoy the journey lindsay as much as the result.

Lindsey Vonn is feeling something deep down inside herself saying she is a failure or not good enough. We know objectively this is not the case in so far as her ski career proves. Probably the best woman ski racer ever. But even the most accomplished people may have some deep down developmental trauma or shame that no matter her external successes is holding her back. I hope she gets the counselling she needs because she is good enough regardless of her skiing success.

  • @linanicolia1363

Hey Lindsey ! drop the ego ! look around and see the beautiful things and be grateful of what you got ! you have been blessed and now you have a problem with the competition instinct. Let it go. Your body will not tolerate your scrutiny. Learn to have empathy and sympathy towards others. You are way too much into yourself......

@@tj-kv6vr I think she is struggling with retirement and to be honest I think her body is killing her. I have had a fraction of the injuries she has and my body hurts. I have had one tibia fracture and my knee bothers me, four is insanity. She has had more injuries than any athlete I know of. Injuries stopped her from reaching her goals. If you have ever been around any high achievers they are rarely content. Give her time and I am sure she will move on and find her next calling. I too am an adrenaline junkie but after my last bad injury, broken back I needed to find another outlet. I did and who would have ever guessed it would be woodworking. For me it was time to slow down, she will get there. And yes there was a time I too was depressed. Take care
