@@slutbunwallah Yeah I saw when they talked about it too. But I kind of almost wonder if mr girl subconsciously treats woman differently from men, because I mr girl said in that talk with destiny he wasnt really going to change much about going with what he feels. He got way more angry at lauren for her boat thing than spencers unhinged super villain rant. & he was way less mad when he started talking about the "context" than when Lauren did. One thing I think for sure is that hes a little more aggressive in an argument when it's a girl, & I think its subconscious for him. I dont think he realizes it himself or that its intentional. I'd probably do the opposite of that, I'd probably be more softer spoken with woman & more aggressive with men if I had to guess

I get what Destiny says about the power of a historical narrative, and how it's more exciting and invigorating, but I do believe there is also a power in making people aware of historiography as a school of thought. We should imo be made aware of the normative factors that contribute to the narrative a historian tells from a selected set of historical facts. At the end of the day we probably need some kind of set narrative in order for history to actually be a tool to reach a certain goal, but being aware of how history is actually told can be a good medicine to the blind faith in one certain lense of historical analysis, which a lot of white nationalists, white identitarians, and more facsism oriented people have. (not exclusively of course. This is definitly a problem on the left aswell)

It’s a rhetorical black hole (usually) without much hard data, so it devolves into people just shouting out their own personal reading of the tea leaves.

    • @Cernunnnos
      @Cernunnnos 2 роки тому +7

Liberalism isn't influenced _heavily_ by Christianity. Western Christianity was influenced by early liberal thought. Liberalism was born out of a rejection of Christian orthodoxy. The claim that Judeo Christian morality is fundamental to our modern liberal societies is just some flabby talking point, where people attached to those religions try to square their archaic teleology with their modern sensibilities.
I'm a fan of Jung too, the idea of archetypes influencing meta narratives is very compelling. But he was a product of his upbringing, as we all are. There is no Christian exceptionalism. Christianity just happened to be there as the material conditions for the emergence of Liberalism were met. i.e. the separation of religion and government.
This is why it didn't emerge in other parts of the world where the Christian narrative was dominant.
The Christian narrative isn't special, it's barely even coherent. It born of the same order/chaos dichotomy that most religions were. And it doesn't even understand that it's trying to describe dualism as its duality collapses into a binary to prop up and simplify its bloated canon.

I can say that for myself politics is about organizing society , about creating shared directions and missions, about improving the wellbeing of people alive now and the wellbeing of future generations, ultimately seeing how far can we go in our development as a species . In my mind conflicts arise when two or more groups compete for some type of resource needed to achieve those goals for their own group, be it actual resources, territory, influence or something along those lines, but the point is not domination in itself. For spencer it seems to me that he sees domination as a metaphysical meaning of the world, its about who will "win" by getting on top of everyone else. My thought when I heard him was that maybe that difference is what the core difference is, because if I thought from that perspective that domination is the ultimate goal and value, then a lot of the values I hold would be meaningless like non violent conflict resolution, mutual respect, aid, cooperation etc. on the other hand it would make sense to fearmonger and demonize other groups, to do genocides and ethnic cleansings, to create highly obedient and hierarchical societies etc.

1:13:40 At this point Destiny is effectively saying that his major disagreement with (f.ex.) Spencer isn't ideological in nature, but methodological. The problem is that if we are to accept Destiny's methodology (he earlier called it 'post-modern', basically that things are too complex and/or fractal for there to be any possibility of overarching narratives), not just entrenched ideology but also genuinely substantial political debate becomes impossible.
Ironically it is precisely because things are complex and/or fractal that people *must* be allowed to spin large narratives and not just mix together all kinds of different localized observations, since the latter becomes an uninformative and ineffective grey goo (much like, if you have to mix together all kinds of different foods in a blender, the result is a horrible non-edible grey goo). Sure, flinging grey goo at people can be an effective argumentative tactic but it doesn't add up to anything productive.

Dude literally fought other "imperators", so from a modern, liberal democratic stance, he is in no way inherently morally worse than his contemporaries and even helped reign in the really ugly side of the French Revolution (proto-boshevik, if I may), which would make him a villain to eat-the-rich lefties, but by no stretch current/last 30 years establishment.

Society is better with a wide variety of skills and people who put their varied talents together to build something better than the individual parts.
Also, if you love the frontier so much, go there and get off the internet, you can still go hunting and fishing and build a cabin and all that shit right now. Just do it and quit whining about what other people are doing. 1:02:30 This is a really stupid argument. A small number of people who have no connection or leadership of the overall group having more nefarious plans does not mean the group holistically was acting in service of those plans. I highly doubt Destiny would ever use that same standard during situations where lefties riot and take over government buildings.
Let's say that it was found out that a number of weapons were stolen from the police station that was taken over during the CHAZ. If we arrested 5 people involved in that and it turned out that there were people who planned to use those weapons to kill the president, that doesn't mean the whole process of the CHAZ was an attempt at killing Trump. That doesn't logically follow and he's making a completely ridiculous attribution there.

Mr. Girl did an insanely bad job in this conversation, and capped it off with this quote:
    1:33:20
"There's no denying that if... we're trying to get rid of racism, that means white people end up in a worse position at the end then where they started."
I just think that's such a simple analysis that probably isn't even true. It's not like racism is still white people getting rich off of the cheap labor of slaves anymore, it's some personal bullshit that causes drama between people, and it's some systemic problems that cost ALL OF US. If minorities remain a perpetual underclass we could reasonably expect crime rates to be high, and to have to pay for that crime. That's just one aspect in which we all lose, but I think there's many more.
I think Mr. Girl's goal was to create some empathy with Richard Spencer, but we mostly just got some boring media discussion and we got to hear some waffling about Richard Spencer's ideology relatively unopposed. Mr Girl is a shitty representative for my views and it's like he's trying to look bad to the opposition 1:35:42
