Agreed, DSC is amazing, and also agreed that it's definitely saved a hell of a lot of people - especially in the wet. Most people do not know how to handle a rear wheel drive car when the back-end slides out quickly, and I would say this is when DSC is most valuable. Understeer is a lot easier to fix. You just come off the throttle.
Happened to me too. I was driving my E39 540i 200km/h at night . A stupid driver in front of me was driving without lights on . I paniced and turned the car to bypass him at that speed . I thougt I lost control when the car returned to the road safely . DSC in BMW is a real thing.
Didn't know about this when I first had my 3 series and tried to drift but I couldn't drift at all, the car just make a way to stay straight until I figure out that I still have to turn dsc and dtc off. Very useful in a real driving condition though.
@@bonlob23 its drifting and drifting. most people want just to slide occasionally or do some donut in rainy or snow road which can be done without locked or lsd. for serious drifting of course you need something else but you wouldn't your expensive bmw for drifting and destroy it.
@@Feroxing12 im saying the 3 series with an open diff just one wheel peels in the snow so its hard to drift. I had an e90 325 that would do it but it was tough.
This happened to me sometime ago and I was wondering how I managed not to hit an object in front of me when I was driving my 550I on the free way. Now I know why. So cool
DSC doesn't help with hydroplaning. When you hydroplane, there is a layer of water formed between your tires and the road. As a result, you have no steering control nor any braking. The DSC's braking won't impact yaw. The DSC probably worked for you because you regained or you had some amount of traction in between. Both DSC and anti-lock brakes have any use only when there is non-zero traction.
I am about to move from Florida to a snowy part in the south of Germany. I have never driven in snow before. I am being offered by a German used car dealer either a BMW 316i with DSC (rear wheel drive) or an Audi A3 (front wheel drive) without DSC but with the advantage of a front wheel drive platform. Which is more useful for a driver with no snow or ice experience?
isnt this all the Electronic Stability Control for all the companies, but everyone has different names for sake of having company's own name thing? I just got a CR-V and while I was car shopping, everyone pretty much had different acronyms :/
I knew that DTC ain't for drifting....When it is raining heavily I turned on the DTC and my brother responded "Are you fucking crazy" Me: Dude it will safe our life My brother: its for drifting you idiot Me: slaps forehead
The irony off all this is while cars are becoming more safer, drivers on the other hand are becoming less aware on the road and more dependent on the cars safety features to do the work for them.

It feels amazing in corners. Like, eery grip.

It doesn't help that you most likely have an open differential which is terrible for drifting lol

@@skate5930 No
understeer.. off the throttle? i go more on the throttle to bring the rear around, while straightening the wheel up a tad. Drift on
I recovered after spinning out on the freeway. Dash cam video is posted on my channel

I can give you answer, but i feel I'm 12 years late😅
Thanks for the upload
the should assemble the DSC with giving more speed on the inner lines ... but i guess thats only a feature of racing cars
@Transane no it isnt, its fun to drift and have control
when the yellow light is on an flashing thats when its on an working ?
It's a PID, look up balancing robot or Segway.

Difference between DSC and DTC
I need help.
Yash Setehull dynamic stability control
Dynamic traction control
whats the difference between DSC and ASC+T on a E46
no it stops burnouts
BmW iS the best👌

2023
can't drift with DSC on huh?
Yes..u need to diactivate it first
i can burn out because of this thing?
Yeah you can hold the button for 5sec and it will turn off... Then just tap it to restore it
me too, I love that new X6 cuz i'm not a family man
This Systems it's save my life
Not really. You can turn it off also
BMW Dynamic Stability control, by applying pressure to the wheel that is spinning, we have taken the fun out of driving.
can't drift on that ride!! lol
Unless you know the way to disable it :)
hahaha ESP = DSG just that BMW call it other way
That's why I keep a 42 year old VW beetle as a backup car. No safety there. Keeps you sharp
que BMWs mas feos avia en esa época...
